KyleB | 4 comments Currently read First Night of Summer by Landon Parham An emotional thriller.
I almost didn’t buy this book from a poor review I read on Amazon that didn’t finish the book, but something inside me asked, how could so many other people absolutely rave about it? So I gave this new author a chance and am so thankful I did. You can’t judge this book if you don’t finish it till the end. I think this is such a misunderstood read by mediocre minded people who lack to see the depth in this book. Yes, there are some disturbing scenes, but they should be! The author deftly navigated the horrifying sequences without being too graphic in detail. Isn’t that the reason we all read thrillers because it scares us and we like to despise the bad guy? These things happen in the world we live in...why should we stick our heads in the sand and act like it’s not out there. It doesn’t make it go away. It has opened my eyes to being more aware of my children and not taking the life I have for granted. I can’t imagine what these unfortunate families must go through when these tragedies strike. It could happen to anyone. How do they ever pick up the pieces and live a normal life again? First Night of Summer is a gritty, yet emotional and pulse-pounding read that will stick to your thoughts long after you finish it. This is not a surface level thriller, it digs deep into the psyche of a darkened mind and pulls your heartstrings into the abyss of one family’s despair. To my surprise, it has become one of my favorite reads of all time.

message 6025: by Belkis (new)

Belkis (bminaya) | 603 comments Okay finished If Forever Comes (Take This Regret, #2) by A.L. Jackson and of course I LOVED IT LOL! I love this story, this author's writing, and the characters in the story so much. Then I also finished Sterling (Mageri, #1) by Dannika Dark and really enjoyed it a lot. Then Third Grave Dead Ahead (Charley Davidson, #3) by Darynda Jones and it was another great one for this hilarious series. Will be reading the next one really soon for sure. Then I jumped into Seraphina (Seraphina, #1) by Rachel Hartman and sadly this one was a total disappointment for me. Super slow and too many boring info sections. Very hard one for me to get through. And to think I looked forward to this book for so long and then when I finally got to it, total bust! Argh! Hate when that happens. But then I read Close Obsession (The Krinar Chronicles, #2) by Anna Zaires and it was so good!! Yay! Made up for the previous disappointing read thank goodness. Will be reading book three to the Krinar Chronicles very soon :D

Currently reading Dark Light (Dark Light, #1) by S.L. Jennings and enjoying it very much. Next up for me The Apollo Academy (Apollo Academy, #1) by Kimberly P. Chase The Mighty Storm (The Storm, #1) by Samantha Towle The Siren (The Original Sinners, #1) by Tiffany Reisz Gio (5th Street, #2) by Elizabeth Reyes Beyond Shame (Beyond, #1) by Kit Rocha Close Remembrance (The Krinar Chronicles, #3) by Anna Zaires Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet (Charley Davidson, #4) by Darynda Jones Hopefully I can stick to them before jumping into these highly anticipated releases Endless Knight (The Arcana Chronicles, #2) by Kresley Cole The Scribe (Irin Chronicles, #1) by Elizabeth Hunter Allegiant (Divergent, #3) by Veronica Roth Time After Time (Time Between Us, #2) by Tamara Ireland Stone October is going to be SPECTACULAR!!

Robin (robinpickell) | 1298 comments Finished Dragon Actually (Dragon Kin, #1) by G.A. Aiken , which is actually two novellas together. It's a light read & since G.A. Aiken is also Shelly Laurenston, so fans of her work that haven't checked out her other series, might appreciate it. Started A Mermaid's Kiss (Daughters of Arianne, #1) by Joey W. Hill earlier, which took me a while to get into. Fans of "The Little Mermaid" will enjoy it I think. I am getting into the plot of the story & it makes me want to continue the series, but my only hang up is it did take me a few chapters to get into THIS book. So far, I am leaning toward 3 STARS.
