I'd say it would be like authors pages, etc. in which the most popular edition is the one that shows. This should probably go in the feedback forum as a request rather than in the Librarian forum.
Thank you, schoolmarm. However, the Librarians group is a place where we "discuss policies." (It's true: read the group description.) I would like to open a discussion on this policy.
It would be nice if the series displays would display the edition that the active user has shelved... if not shelved by that user, it could then resort to the default "most shelved/most reviewed" edition. ~shrug~ Might make for another nicety for the programmers to add to the never-ending list of fixits...
The most popular edition of a book shows up on the series page. If which edition that is changes, then the edition on the series page changes as well.
I had a question about this too. I was adding some books to a series and noticed it did the thing where a different edition comes up for an isbn #. The problem is that the series is for a 2 in 1 series. So I kind of don't want to put the reg. edition in the series since it's only one story in the book. Would it be better to leave the book out of the series or add both the books (the ones in the 2 in 1) to the series (they would end up having the same book # for the series). I hope some one can understand what I'm saying. Plz let me know. Thanks
I would add both books using the same book #. If I was reading a series it would give me more options. I have seen this in my travels through series world and it seems to work just fine.

Thanks Sandra. I didn't really know what the best thing to do would be.
Oh, by the way, I also noticed that when you search to add a book to a series, sometimes it will show two books that are the same just different editions. When it does this does that mean those two books aren't connected/combined? Thanks

Probably.
Probably.
ThanksDo they need to be combined since they are the same book just different editions? I've always wondered why there are some books that aren't combined and some are when they are all the same, just different editions. Does someone just forget to combine them or are they adding new books and not 'another edition'.

Yes. It usually just means no one has happened to combine them yet.

When I type the book name into the search box, sometimes the edition with the cover I want pops up, sometimes it's another edition. Sometimes even if I enter the ISBN for the cover I want, another edition pops up. (I really don't understand why that would happen.) This issue could be resolved with an "other editions" link.
