Review blogs/web sites
http://emilija-thesweetestsin.blogspo... This is my blog. I just started and yeah, I would be honored to review a book. I read YA, fantasy, horror, chick-lit and pretty much a little bit of everything as long as it holds my interest. :)
I wanted to invite the members of this group to submit a story for my website's recurring feature called "Fiction Friday" My blog is at http://www.scifisaturdaynight.com
Despite the name we would love submissions of any niche genre including but not limited to fantasy, horror, steampunk or comics.
To submit a story, please message me on Goodreads or email scifico@scifico.org.
Does anyone do reviews of indie literary novels? The amount of genre titles in indie is disheartening to authors who take the quality of their writing seriously. We desperately need discriminating reviewers who expect boldness, originality and high standards.
You don't need a blog. Anyone can post reviews on amazon.
I would be happy to send Smashwords coupons so you can get my books free. Click my name, send me a message, and I will send you a coupon.

I can understand you feel a bit swamped in the indie genre influx, but to imply that because a book is genre the quality of the writing is somehow not up to standard seems a bit counter-productive if you're seeking reviews. Many genre authors like me also review books, all types of books.

Seems I've shot myself in the foot. I hope it won't prove to be fatal. Of course genre writing can be fantastic. But your word "swamped" pretty well nails how I feel as a "literary" indie author. I even find myself avoiding that word, "literary", to describe what I do. "Mainstream" might do, but I've never considered myself very mainstream. Anyway, my apologies to all genre writers and reviewers. I think I just needed my lunch. If I haven't offended every potential reviewer, I'd still be happy to give you a coupon code for one or more of my books, hoping you will be more even-handed than I have been.

Lack of lunch explains everything. You should see me before my morning coffee.
I'm a little backed up for reviews at the moment, but I'll take a peek at them over at Smashwords. Since Tomorrow looks especially interesting.
I have a book review blog. http://notwhileimreading.blogspot.com. I read a lot of fantasy but will review anything from horror to true crime to historical romance and more!

Morgan, and A.F., I don't think you two are on opposite sides of a midpoint so much as engaging in semantics. Literary works are by their very nature, genre. Perhaps the difference,if there is one,is the connotation of literary. In its simplest terms literary means "concerning books." Perhaps the misalignment is a generational one? Contemporary writers, with the possible exception of academics, are all genre writers. In the field, one might jump to the conclusion that a more erudite piece, more sophisticated piece would be more literary. My theory is that that concept is only inflating the term literary. Writing falls into two broad categories, fiction and non-fiction. That's enough until we get to the actual genre. And like denominations of Christianity, there are at least 400 or more! So we are all on the same side. :)

Took a look and thought it was great. If you don't mind waiting a few weeks until I clear away some of my back log, I'd be happy to review, Since Tomorrow.

Tara -- if you're interested in reviewing my science fiction novel, Twin-Bred, please tell me what information or files you want submittted and how. You could email me at kawyle@kiva.net. Thanks!Tara wrote: "I have a book review blog. http://notwhileimreading.blogspot.com. I read a lot of fantasy but will review anything from horror to true crime to historical romance and more!"
GLBT BOOKS: I publish a weekly book review blog featuring GLBT fiction and non-fiction, especially Canadian books (when I can find them). Drop around and check it out, at: http://gerrycan.wordpress.com .
Tara wrote: "I have a book review blog. http://notwhileimreading.blogspot.com. I read a lot of fantasy but will review anything from horror to true crime to historical romance and more!"Hi Tara. Do you review children's books at all? If so, do take a look at The Secret Lake and get in touch if it looks of interest. It a time-slip mystery adventure aimed at 8-10 year-olds (rather than fantasy) so I'm not sure if it will appeal as it may be too tame! (in which case no problem at all!)

I just noticed that there are two (at least) Karen's in this group. I'd be happy to add my last name to avoid confusion -- does anyone know how I'd do that?Karen wrote: "Tara wrote: "I have a book review blog. http://notwhileimreading.blogspot.com. Next week I'm releasing THE MAN CLOTHED IN LINEN, an historical novel that explores the life and times of Jesus within the premise that he was the illegitimate son of Herod the Great. I'm publishing it on all the ebook sites (Kindle, Nook, Smashwords, iBook). Previously I've published a novel, The Way Home, and a memoir of a year in Iraq, Nights in The Pink Motel. Both were hardbound. Good reviews, so-so sales, minimal financial pay-off. So now I'm going to ask for reviews of THE MAN CLOTHED IN LINEN, and see what I can make happen within the blog reviewing community. I'll let everyone know how things develop. Robert Earle

Whitebeard, Literary is a legitimate term for a type of fiction that features imagery, often a poetic, flowing style, attention to traditional conventions like figurative language. Rudyard Kipling is a really good example, since, even when he writes about the mundane lives of British imperialists he throws in the most wonderful imagery and figures. A.F. is trying to distinguish his writing from that which focuses on character, setting, or a particular niche, like Sci Fi or Romance. Many reviewers describe their tastes by genre, and he was only trying to say, "Help! I write great stuff, but I don't fit your genres!" We genre writers shouldn't be insulted either, and he made a very pretty apology.
I invite you to join me in my Remembrance Day tribute.I have prepared a special review of "Coming Out Under Fire" by Allan Bérubé
"Story blurb: This major study chronicles the struggle of homosexuals in the U.S. military during WW II who found themselves fighting on two fronts: against the Axis and against their own authorities who took extreme measures to stigmatize them as unfit to serve their country. From 1941 to 1945, more than 9000 gay servicemen and women purportedly were diagnosed as sexual psychopaths and given “undesirable” discharges. Based on documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, augmented by 75 interviews with gay male and female veterans, social historian Berube recounts the purges in the military into the Cold War era when homosexuality was officially equated with sin, crime and sickness. The book reveals that the first public challenge to the military’s policy came not from the gay-rights movement but from military psychiatrists who studied gay servicemen and women during World War II. This evenhanded study brings into sharp focus an important chapter in American social history."

Not sure if anyone is would be interested but being ther reader bargain hunter that I am I found that http://www.womensliterarycafe.com/ has announced FREE Fridays begining I think in Jan. But they are also looking for book reviewers and of course I know many of you are of course bloggers etc.
I have begun a new book blog - The Virtual Muser eBook Review - in which I will review eBooks only. I have done this mainly because I feel that eBooks have still not been awarded their proper place. While I personally prefer Literary Fiction, which I consider my own novel - As I Died Laughing - to be, I am interested in reviewing books from many different genres - Indie authors included. My interest, in creating this book blog review, is in relating to the quality of writing: how the characters are crafted, how much the plot excites our interest and makes us feel involved, and the play with words. And we may find a master of the written word in any genre.

HiI review for the Kindle Book Review, but I also review other books and post the reviews here at Goodreads, on Amazon (UK and US) and on my own blog.
http://rachelabbottwriter.wordpress.com/
I've only posted a couple up to now, but I have another 6 in the pipeline.
I review thrillers, mystery, suspense and, bizarrely, chick lit!
I only review indie authors, and I need to have a mobi version (Kindle). Contact me via Goodreads or the blog if I can help.
Would you consider reviewing a memoir I wrote about the life and death of my severely brain-damaged sister Annie? It's called Dancing in Heaven.I requested a review at the Kindle Book Review by Java Davis. I think she is going to do one later. Can more than one person on the KBR do a review on the same book?
I couldn't find your review policy (is it in your profile?). How should authors submit requests for reviews?Mark wrote: "Hi,
