I don't think anyone should have died, either. Prim's death didn't make sense to me when I first read that part, I had to reread it to understand what happened.
I don't like that Prim died at all. That part kind of ruined the book for me. I also teared up when Rue died, but when Prim died, it just didn't make sense. Mocking Jay was my least favorite book in the series.

if they had to kill an important character, I think maybe it should've been haymitch, since he was never gonna be happy anyway...

i also didn't get Prim's death and i think she shouldn't have died. finnick shouldn't have died as well, especially that he was already happily married to Annie. mockingjay really didn't make that much sense unlike the other two books which i loved!!

I agree that Haymitch should have died. Honestly, I think that anyone other than Finnick should have died. His story was the most heartbreaking to me. I really felt like he deserved a happy ending especially after everything he'd been through.
I also agree that Mockingjay didn't really make much sense in the grand scheme of the story. It felt very far removed from the first 2 books which I felt were wonderful.
Yeah I was confused through the Mockingjay :( Finnick dies right after he got married and everything....I have to admit I really didnt pay much attention to Finnick in the story...only in Catching Fire. So I wasnt really heartbroken but I was confused about the pary of Prim dying so I reread it.
Finnick first appeared in the series in Catching Fire... that's why you dont remember him from the Hunger Games

I wish he didn't, but if he did die, I knew he would put others before himself, just like he did in Mockingjay.
I didn't WANT him to die- I liked him. it's just that IF a major character had to die, I would've rather it been him than finnick. I could sorta see prim's death as necessary, but not finnick's.
When Prim died I really didnt notice Katniss that mad or upset besides killing President Snow and when she was back in Victors village...i dont know :)
I don't think anyone "should have" died. But it was sort of necessary for the people to die. It's not like the book's going to have a fairytale ending. Katniss had to suffer to get her old life back. Although it wasn't really her old life anymore, without all the people she loved. But she tried. And so did Peeta.
