Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 49 comments I'm looking for a new serie to start but I'm not sure of the genre it falls into.

I read and really loved Nightfall (Dark Age Dawning, #1) by Ellen Connor by Ellen Connor. It takes place during a change from technology to magic age. You get the drift, nothing works anymore and evils beast crop out of the woodwork by the millions...here is a small group of people trying to survive and find shelter. I liked that it was a paranormal romance with a backdrop movies like 28 days and the Walking Dead.

Anyone has a suggestion like this serie and not YA? Living through the 'apocalypse' and not trying to prevent it.

P.A. Lupton (palupton) | 909 comments The only one I've heard of is Amanda hockings Hollowland (The Hollows, #1) by Amanda Hocking I've heard it's excellent but I think it might be YA--her other books are.

I think the genre is called dystopian.

Gaynell (gaynellk) | 20 comments I really enjoyed the Hunger Games trilogy. First book The Hunger Games - It might be considered YA, but the books are really interesting.

Also, your description about changing from technology to magic would fit the Kate Daniels' books. First book Magic Bites - not YA

Shelly (mashbay) Yes, I was going to say Kate Daniels, too. Magic Bites Great series. UF.

P.A. Lupton (palupton) | 909 comments This is old but one of my favorite dystopian novel The Chrysalids by John Wyndham It's a classic and definitely worth a read if you've never read it.

I totally agree that the Kate Daniels series is great..even her Edge series is good. I read a novella in Angels of Darkness by Ilona Andrews about the Alphas. Anyone know if a series is coming?

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 21 comments Kate Daniels is fabulous! Also - Rhiannon Frater has a stupendous zombie series. The First Days (As The World Dies A Zombie Trilogy, #1) by Rhiannon Frater is the first one. These are originally self-pubbed, but being re-released by Tor.

Rot & Ruin (Benny Imura, #1) by Jonathan Maberry & Birthmarked (Birthmarked, #1) by Caragh M. O'Brien were both good, but both are YA.

The Three by Meghan O'Brien was awesome too! There is some F/F interaction in the story, so if you don't like that probably not for you.

Vi There are actually two shelves:

Apocalyse Shelf

Post-Apocalyptic Books

Since no non-YA books come into my mind except for the Kate Daniels Series (which I highly third it), I gave you the links to shelves. Hope you find something awesome to read :)

Ashley (ashleycw) Eve by Anna Carey is the first in a series. I loved it.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan is after a Zombie apocalypse and its the first in a series.

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi comes out in November and its a man made end of the world, and the group that's trying to stop it.

I finally found a trilogy that I thought might be enjoyed by you Val. Its technically UF rather than PNR, but is definately post apocalyptic. Faith Hunter's Rogue Mage series, of which Bloodring is the first book. this is set after the return of Seriphs, angels, demons etc. Interesting idea and take on what will Come Afterwards.

Oh yes...I read the first 2 books of the series already. Greatly recommend it....her Jane Yellowrock series is really good too.

I know Val--I too enjoy the Jane Yellowrock series. lol, I really liked in the last book where she casually mentions that the LITERAL English translation of her name would have been GOLD rather than yellow rock.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 49 comments And Ann, the dialogues of Jane and Beast are hilarious too.
