There are several books in this series. There are at least 3 girls who are friends, and they discover angels in the woods beyond over a bridge. The angels are there to help them. I believe one book was about a snow angel that ended up being a hoax.

The series is called Forever Angel by Suzanne Weyn. The particular book I was looking for is called Snow Angel. Go figure.
