How exciting to have PLEASANT GOODLOE OBERNEIER, the heroine from FAMILY BLESSINGS, an October release from Love Inspired Historical with us today.
1. Tell me the most interesting thing about you. Oh my--well, I married a man with four children from his first marriage and he died about a year later leaving me pretty much destitute if it weren't for the bakery I run with my father.
2. What do you do for fun? Four children? Running a business? managing what's left of my late husband's farm? Fun? That would be for people like Jeremiah Troyer who opened the ice cream parlor next door to the bakery as if opening such a frivolous business in the middle of a depression were a good idea.
3. What do you put off doing because you dread it? [Sigh.] I put off allowing myself to think about some day---some day I might not have to worry about my step children (not to mention my half sisters); some day someone might come along and fall madly in love with me the way Levi Harnisher fell in love with my friend, Hannah. Some day I might be able to rust that a man as good-looking and charming as Jeremiah Troyer could actually look at me without seeing just the woman who makes the cones for him to serve up his ice cream.
4. What are you afraid of most in life? LIFE.
5. What do you want out of life? Security for my stepchildren, love (but twice I've had to face the fact that this is a pipedream) and peace for all of us.
6. What is the most important thing to you? My family--they may not be of my body but they are my children and I love them dearly.
7. Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book? I read the Bible--King James version.
8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Just one thing? All right then I would want to present myself to the world in a way that my name--Pleasant_ is not an oxymoron!
9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet? We have a horse for our wagon, chickens, a cow--we do not have pets.
10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why? In our Amish faith we believe that there is a purpose in God placing us in this time and place. I only hope to fulfill God's plan for my life to the best of my ability.
