TBR Toppler Dec 3 - Dec 4, 2011
I think this would be fun and a great way to tackle some of the books on my TBR shelf. We could maybe do this periodically if there is enough interest.
In order of preference for me - Dec 3, 10, Nov 12. I'm afraid Nov 19 is out. I'll be getting ready to travel to Vegas. Mind you, I could sleep on the plane.
I don't mind either of the December dates or the 19, could do the 12 but will be MIA for 3/4 hours as I'll be in the salon getting my hair done (tend to have a lot of colour put in which takes a while...)
My time zone may just work to my advantage here, 10am EST is 4pm for me, and nothing happens on Sundays in countryside Netherlands. Count me in!

I think that this would be fun. Sundays are better days for me, however I will make the time for any chosen day. Reading will always out weigh Chores on my home scale!
The day after boxing day, or the day after new years could be good quiet days to do this if families have disappeared by then and work isn't happening
Judy wrote: "In the meantime, I hope you will take a look at the challenges and that we will see you often on the boards"Attacking the October challenge as we speak!
I am crossing Dec 3 off my calendar and nothing shall interfere. If they do, there will be a new Star Wars movie out called, "The Wrath of Jan".
Thanks Judy. I'm going to try really hard to. I read some of the above posts but wasn't quite sure if a date has been set yet. Is is set for Dec 4th? And what kind of rules are there going to be?
Aww I have to work that day.. Saturdays are usually my slow days and thus i end up reading a lot that day.. Plus its my sons 8th birthday yayy!! so i wont be reading with yall but ill be reading along side you.. when i can haha..
This is an exciting idea. I honestly don't know if I'll be able to do it though because that is close to end of the semester and I might be too overwhelmed by end of the semester stuff for my grad school classes, will have to decide later...closer to the date
I'm still game but may miss a couple of hours on the 3rd (hoping to go to the Wales v Australia test match) and a few hours on the 4th (entered into the Cardiff Santa Jog). Also I've converted the EST times to GMT so for all those in the UK is it 3pm on the 3rd to 3pm on the 4th or do we stick with the 10ams in our own time zone?
Judy wrote: "Sam, 3 pm to 3 pm is perfect! Thanks for converting it to your time zone. No problem, pop in and out as you are available. We're a pretty easy to deal with lot around here. :-) I'm glad you could ..."Not a problem but I can't take all the credit, the father did help a little too (actually he did it all but I did come up with the plan to ask him so that counts for something in my book).
I could always try reading while jogging just to keep things ticking over...I'm sure my brother wont mind navigating me around the route...

Good grief! I dreamt about this challenge last night. I even dreamt the story I was reading. It was something about a man and his two daughters who get caught in a fire. They could have escaped, but the father went back into the building and the daughters went back in with him. When they went to leave, their escape route was cut off.I think I should write it all down and it could become the next great Canadian novel. (Not)
I have decided that I simply have to join this challenge. I just know however that I will be drowning myself in coffee. :)
I'd love to join in but don't know how much I can manage - Im working till 5pm GMT, so would miss the first few hours.
Not sure whether I have my two year old that day(s) or not. Not much reading can be done, except his books which I've read a ga-zillion times.
Thanks Judy. I'm trying to line up some of the books that I want to read now. I really hoping that I can get a lot done and I know that it will be a blast. :)
Judy, that may be what I end up doing also. I have about 4 books that I'm reading now that I want to finish before our challenge so that I can read something really new for the challenge. :)
News Just In...my partner will be away that night in the east of the country so I've nothing else to do except read. Perfect timing!
I'm in. I'm an insomniac, so I'm no stranger to long, sleepless nights spent reading. ;) Sadly, I have to work Saturday night, but I'll be reading before and after.

Hi Lucy! Welcome to You'll Love This One. It's super that you're going to join in on the TBR topler. :)

Of course, if you're going to be passionate about something, might as well go the whole hog!
Not this time (family commitments), but maybe the next round.
Ooops. didn't realize I needed to actually join this part of the group---this was why I joined the group! I'm in.

Judy, could you give us a bit more information about a read-a-thon?
