I think it was a good enough book for a movie, but maybe the whole series into a few movies. i understand Sohpie and Josh thought it all a movie and that might add to the quality of the movie. THere is a lot that can be done. I don't think it would be compared to Harry Potter because I seen nothing that was equivalent to Harry Potter other than Flamel being mentioned in the first Potter books.

They might, but only if enough people follow the books. Right now, they're more of a cult classic. If they become more of a hit, it'll probably be a standalone movie, then maybe a trilogy or something.
I've only read the first book and am half way through the second but I love this series. I think that it would make a great movie but it would be really hard to get the special effect right. Lets face it, if they don't get them right then the movie would stink.
Let me confirm that there is a movie inching forward. I am writing the script right now, and right now it looks like it will be shot using the stunning New Zealand scenery (for the Shadowrealms.) Special FX are so sophisticated now that I believe it will be possible to capture all the magical scenes. I've already seen some early art work and it is stunning!
Whoo! Cool! If its really that good then I look forward to seeing it. How do you think the timeline of the film will play out? Will it be like in the book and only last a couple of days or will it be longer?
I think it would be interesting to see as a movie, but it would kind-of ruin all the cool images in my head.
I really think this would make a great TV series. They could put a Game of Thrones HBO treatment on it (without the nudity). I think it would be spectacular.
I would watch the movies...maybe. The movie special effects would probably be disappointing. Plus, if each book is a 3 hour movie (and they would all have to be, with how long they are), that's nearly 18 hours for all six movies. I would just read the books. I think a TV series would be a good idea, though. The plot works really well with that.

Oh my god, Michal Scott himself commented!!

Are they making a movie?
Are they making a movie?
I, too, am very excited Meg! I can rest assured there will be something good in cinemas as I hate looking forward to seeing a movie only to be disappointed.I am especially anticipating seeing Flamel and Dee.
OMG. It would be so spectacular if Nicolas Cage played Nicholas Flamel. THAT WOULD BE SO GOOD. HE was the man i was picturing when reading the series. SO excited!!! I am also so curious to know who will act out Perenelle and Scathach. (IMO i think Keira Knightley should play Perenelle :3) I hope the actors/actoresses are well known so people who don't know the series would still watch it.
yes please!!!! i love it!!! scriptore
I think it would be great as a film because of the awesome characters namely the Elders. They would be super cool on screen!
Yes they should make a movie. I love the whole series. It would be very interesting to see how the movie turned out
It wasn't my favorite, but I think this would be a good action movie, but people might compare this to other movies because of the magical aspect, which honestly makes me think this is better off staying just as a book series.
I've only read the 1st book, and I'm on the 2nd one now, and I think these books are very good. They are a bit too much like the Harry Potter series to be a good movie or TV show, though.
Ever since I read the series (2 years ago) I have thought that they should turn it into a movie! If I do though, I worried about being disappointed; they always change things!!!
No spoilers intended, but wouldn't those scenes in the last two books where Shakespeare, Scatty and the Black Knight are in the past lookgood on film?
I think it would be awesome, and I would definitely watch it, but I'd be scared that they would mess it up.
yes. its a different book so I think people will say it is similar to Harry Potter, but will hopefully realize that it is not the same thing.
Yes. I am rereading for the first time in years, and I said over and over to myself, "Why isn't this a movie?" It certainly has enough action (and lots of opportunities for the actors to look all philosophical and stare troubled-ly at the camera). I think the only thing that might not make it a good movie would be all of the funny names and world-building (because like with LotR and Eragon and so, it's sometimes hard to correctly express the world and the type of magic and the backstory of everyone).
I think it would be interesting to see the idea movie-ized. (That's right. I made up a word.) I think it would be super cool, even if they just made the first book into a movie and none of the others.

Fans of this book can actually submit ideas for actors if it is adapted. Take a look - http://www.thebookcaster.com/the-alch...
