those title provide education of a different sort. :) An Education with Carrie Mulligan was good.

Honestly, the best part of the whole thing was seeing people dress up as the characters. The movie was just kinda bad and really disappointing. The cartoon was much better.

Waiting anxiously for "Inception" and "Salt""
me too!

Why can't they make movies about real people as real and moving as these movies about plastic toys?

We went to the non-IMAX version. Please, IMAX for Eclipse? It's not like they spent a lot on the fancy special effects. Hee!
The audience was all very happy to be there. They clapped at the BEGINNING of the movie! They awwwed at Edward and Bella's true love forever. And they whistled at Jake's first appearance, sans shirt. I love crowds like that, there just to have a good time. Pure mass appeal.
I enjoyed myself thoroughly. I'm still laughing over the wonderful goofiness that is Eclipse style. What is it about being a vampire that makes most of them decide to do their hair and makeup like department store mannequins? Hee! Bleached blonde hair and black eyebrows is not a good look for anyone. I especially loved when the Cullen clan are arraying themselves pre-battle in their cool designer clothes. I guess if you don't look good, you're not giving it your best effort.
I also enjoyed the evil vampires rising out of the water after walking from Seattle to the peninsula along the bottom of Puget Sound. I guess vampires don't like ferry boat rides?
I guess if I have to declare, I'd be Team Edward. Jake is just SO full of himself. Plus, he has weird slopey shoulders I don't care for. However, I have decided I like the werewolves, despite their obvious fakeness. At least they look like WOLVES, not some weird wolfman thing with slavering jaws and crazy ears like you see on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Raina, one of my library friends, thought they should green screen in real trained wolves, but I disagree. If you have sparkling vampires with fake hair, you've got to have equally cheesy looking werewolves.
By the way, there is no need to wait through all the credits. There's nothing extra at the end.
I watched Invictus last night too Larry, I thought it was a pretty good movie, and well done.

Pirate Radio (kick ass music soundtrack, I'm sure)
The Foot Fist Way
The Blind Side
Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant
I'll bring them all back except The Foot Fist Way because that one had me in tears from laughing so hard... and I could stand for a bit more of that.

We watched the A Team last week, can't remember if I said that. The editing is blinding - I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with seizures. Other than that, it was a confusing and overlong but fun romp.
Yesterday in some heat-wave induced madness we watched an awful teen comedy called It's A Boy Girl Thing or possibly It's a Girl Boy Thing in which an ancient Aztec statue curses two teenagers who hate each other to switch bodies. The highest recommendation I can give is that after the gross out slapstick stuff it actually allowed the nerdy girl to be smart, confident, and pretty, and the jock to have some layers as well. That said, don't see it.
Also watched Taking Woodstock, which I thought was sweet and smart and understated, though the soundtrack was surprisingly weak and somewhat sitar-heavy.

OK, so I just watched American Crime.... it was interesting and a little creepy. It is thundering and lightning and the house is all dark, so that contributed to the atmosphere. I should receive AN American Crime in the next few days and hopefully it is better. Remember the Alfred Hitchcock movies? Now those were disturbing in a let's make some popcorn and scare ourselves silly sort of way.

OH, yes, Rat Race is hilarious.
I watched two movies with my daughter on the weekend
1. Strictly Ballroom - I love this movie. For those who don't mind an ugly duckling tale.

2. Ratatouille - It was pretty good too, I haven't watched a pixar movie for a while, oh the break has been nice.

I like the parts Heidi and Bun mentioned, and I love where they show the horror of getting boxed in on the dance floor, which led to the debacle of making up steps. Aaaaah! :D

It was fun enough. There were some absolutely gorgeous settings, and they did give Jackie Chan one scene to show his stuff. I don't know how it was such a long movie when they basically scrapped all of the wax-on wax-off type stuff for a single silly "put the jacket on" move.
Also, all of the kung fu looked pretty awesome until the very very very last move (their variation on the one everybody knows), which looked fake.
"Toy Story 3." Cried my eyes out at the end, thinking of that day in the not-too-distant future when my three kids will all leave the fold. The twins are wild as all get out, but it's hard to imagine our house without them loosening plaster and drywall with their screaming and bickering.
"Grown Ups." Well, the kids loved it. I thought Rob Schneider stole the show. Some hit, but mostly miss.

It's not? Shit, you learn something every day around here.

have you watched a real one ?"
Hells yeah. Most of the east coast leagues are flat track, not curved, though. All the rules are still the same, but two different governing bodies.

Barb: I assume you've seen JUNO? Have you see HARD CANDY? I have WHIP IT on my to-watch list.

I'd love to see a movie this week. I could go, my family are out of town, but there's nothing I want to see in the theaters.

I watched Eclipse with my daughter on the weekend. I wonder if I can get her to go with a friend to the next one? She enjoyed it. :)
