For me, it started earlier this year (2011). I'd pretty much read everything in my library's teen section, and had contemplated on taking out the series a few trips to the library. The covers didn't particularly excite me, but I took the KoNLG and checked it out.When I got home, I was unreachable. I had gone into the state that my family call "hibernation." I finished it that night, and nearly had palpitations when I received the email that my reservation for the Ask and the Answer had arrived. Same went for Monsters of Men, and I nearly had a fit at how the series ended.
A few months later, I joined Goodreads, and my first group - CRAZY FOR CHAOS WALKING!

Ahhh I know right?! It's so horrible... :'( Thankgoodness we have imaginations - we can then imagine a better ending!

I think it could've been better, I mean it could've been worse: Todd and Viola not together... It could've had a better ending, but that's just me! I nearly screamed when Todd got shot though...

i saw a someone's recommendation about it (it was this year 2011) and it sounded really good, so i decided that i have to read it. day later i bought KoNLG and couldn't stop reading it...
My middle school librarian - who is always 'in' on new books - recommended The Knife of Never Letting Go during a book talk. I found it interesting - the idea that everyone can hear your thoughts. Although, I got the idea that it was a horror novel... which I am not really into, excluding Darren Shan, which does not really count as a "pure horror novel", IMHO.Later, my high school library had The Knife of Never Letting Go on display. Back then, I usually hung around outside the library to finish my lunch, and kept looking at the interesting cover, wondering what it was about (I had forgotten my ex-librarian's sales pitch by then).
A few months later, with nothing to read in my out-of-date high school library, I decided to take out The Knife of Never Letting Go. (My middle school librarian used to pre-order many, many books... we got at least 100 new books/year, IIRC. I'm not used to a library which doesn't get new books until at least an year later.)
I checked it out.
Oh Mmmh Geez.
The book was a masterpiece, a work of art, so, so breathtakingly, strikingly beautiful. I loved the scene at the waterfall - the hope, the elation.

Yeah I loved that scene too. It was soooooo suspenseful and I had absolutely no idea what was going to happen and then Viola came in like a boss and saved Todd. Again. And then he saved her when she felt horrible about killing someone.
You know I'm just now thinking that with a book/series where the two main characters are constantly saving each other in many different ways, it has the potential to get real old and repetitive real quickly. But it definitly doe not in CW. In fact it adds to the story <3
Looking on Amazon as a little youngster (way back in 2008...8th grade...13...gross) I bought The Hunger Games and The Knife of Never Letting Go on a whim so to speak. They seemed interesting and weird not unlike myself and it turns out they are THE BEST BOOKS ON THE PLANET. Or at least some of the best I must say.
Hm, well I saw it at my school library and it seemed awesome, even from the cover, but I didn't borrow it. Few days later, KA BAM! My favourite book reviewer says she LOVES that books, and I pick it up! :) So glad I did!
This series was one of those series I went into a bookstore each time and said "next time I will have enough money to buy it". The cover appealed to me, captivated me and had me sufficating to buy it! It was only after I had done work experience at a local bookstore and was offered the selection of a book in graditude to my assistance that week that I chose The Knife of Never Letting Go. Another attraction - the title. So unique, so unexpected. Anyways to sum of this ever-ending story - I read the book, and I mean truly read my heart out and the moment I finished I screamed "I WANT MORE!", racing downstairs asking if we could buy The Ask and the Answer the next day. This is the best series I have ever read, and whenever anyone asks me for my review I can barely speak. You can just see from my jaw-to-the-floor expression and big eyes that this series is one to read...=)
This has nothing to do with the discussion, but I got a freaking AMAZING rug, that (irrationally) reminds me of chaos walking so INCREDIBLY MUCH that I want to burst into tears whenever I see it because *spoiler alert* It reminds me of I AM THE CIRCLE AND THE CIRCLE IS ME, which, to an extent, is the cause of Davy's, his father's, Todd's (temporarily), the Spackle's, hundreds of women's, and pretty much a whole legion of my dearest character's deaths and injuries.

A circle within a circle within a circle within a circle....I love it. :) Sadly, unlike the picture, about 1/3 of the circle is cut off at th corner, But it's still cool.

I discovered this Trilogy because when i started using Goodreads i had one single friend and looked at her read shelf and there I saw the books she had recently read so i came to her review of the Ask and the Answer and there i got intrigued so i requested from the library the knife of never letting go... I had to start from the beginning, right? and when i started reading it got hooked immediately! I love this trilogy!!And yeah sometimes i find myself thinking I AM THE CIRCLE AND THE CIRCLE IS ME, but also "feeling nothing, taking nothing in", it works :P
i just went to my recommendations on goodreads andBANG there my obsession for CW started.
i just really liked the story line and the next day (not even looking for the book) i saw it on the shelf in our library and decided to try it.
For me, it started only last summer (2o11). I read it out in a week and loved it sooo much I HAD to get the other ones as well. I'm so glad my mum's friend recommended it to me!!!

I found Knife of Never Letting go on the shortlist for the Carnegie book award in 2009 and have been obsessed ever since :)
It was shortlisted for the UK's Carnegie book award. It wasn't the first one I picked up though - I think there were 8 that year. It looked like horror so I put it off & had never heard of Patrick Ness. Loved the way that Ness gradually revealed the world and the absence of women so you got drawn into the sci fi setting gradually. We all agreed it should have won that year! Each of the sequels has been on the CArnegie shortlist since and we all fought to be the first to read them. So glad it won last year. One of the best series out there for YA. We won't have one this year :(. Will hopefully have to make do with A monster Calls. Shortlist is announced next week:)
Ohhh... It wasn't long ago. I kinda first found the book in internet and when I read all the great reviews I just got the urge to read it. But for a while I couldn't find it. And one day when I was in the library I kinda saw the name of the book from corner of my eyes and that was pretty much it.But aafter that I couldn't put the book down It was AMAZING.

I got it from my school libry, started reading it, and like most people, found it hard to get into. so i only read the first 2 chapters, then got bored. I found A monster calls in a book shop and after reading it and enjoying it, i realised it was by patrick ness too, so i gave The knife of never letting go another try, and now im obbsesed.
I found it on a Hunger Games read-alike list at my school library, and the description on amazon sounded really good, plus that's pretty much the most awesome title ever. That was back in like February though, and though I checked pretty much every time I went into the library, they didn't have it. So in May, since I graduated and can't use the school library anymore, I paid off my fines to the public library and that was one of the first books I checked out. And then, I randomly chose it of the other books I got to read on the plane to orientation in Alabama (which was funny, because it was very good preparation for being the only kid without an accent.) And it was awesome! I remember having to bite my thumb while I was reading the end to keep from screaming in the airport while reading the waterfall scene!And anyways, now I'm obsessed and I couldn't get the second and third books until recently, and I read them in 2 days.
And they're honestly the best series I've ever read!
The lady at the book shop said it was supposed to be really good. I had vouchers, and got about a hundred and seventeen dollars worth of books. I read all the other ones first, thinking that these would be alright, but nothing more. Needless to say, they are now my favourite books. Ever.
I can't believe it isn't more well known. All the people I lend my copies to (with strict instructions not to bend or mark them) have loved them. They're definatley better than most of the mass marketed books around now.
it was on my shelf, and my sister had read it a while ago. she told me not to read it because it was gory and a dog dies. but i generally have a horrible lack of books, so i decided to give it a try. i didnt notice the gore, although in a movie it would have been horrific. but i always notice the animals dying. but i fell in love, and desperately tried to find the ask and the answer.
I luckily found monsters of men second hand in a charity shop for four euro. i mean, what? but my sister had told me she saw it, so we walked all the way across the south side of dublin to get there. it was so, so worth it, and i finished it that night. i generally tried not to read it in the day, because i knew i would start crying. i dont know why. but it was the best book i ever read.
I had just read the hunger games (which I recommend to anyone who hasn't read it yet!)and I was in Waterstones and it said if you like the hunger games you will like the knife of never letting go and I'm so glad I bought it!
For me it began in April of 2010. I came across it from a friend off Goodreads. Her name is Cissi. I love the books so much. They are the sort of books you stay up way too late to read.
It was the summer of 2011, I think :). I was going to a summerhouse for about a week so I really needed a couple of books to entertain myself with. I was at the library, just wandering around and picking out random books that looked interesting. Then I came to KoNLG. First I was going to put it back, since the swedish title (something like "silence in the noise" if you translate it to english)seemed a bit silly. But I read the summary anyway and from that moment I was kind of stuck :). I took it with me, finnished it in a day, burrowed the other two when I got home and finnished them in about three days. Then it was over :(

It was interesting how i found this book. I was at this bookstore after closing (my friend owns it) and i was looking at books. Right when i was about to leave a book fell out of the shelf and it was "The Knife of Never Letting Go"
So how did you come about CW? Did someone reccomend it to you, or did you happen upon it at random like I did? How did you're deep love with Chaos Walking start?!
