One of the hardest parts about waiting for Book 8 to come out is knowing I will blow through it and be mourning book 9! I got sooooo spoid by comming to this series so late and being able to read one right after the other.

The "snippets" we've been getting have been great, but the next book can't come out too soon.

Can't wait for book 8 either!

There are no more men like Jamie any more...

Do we REALLY KNOW that any actually talked that way in other centuries? If so, I think we all need a trip to the standing stones.

Like we need anymore reasons to love the man! Lol

You're so right Fawn! Now he's just killing us softly! Haha

There are no ..."
Replying to your last sentence that this cut off and ended with "no more men like Jamie any more". There are. This is a true story about a real living man and I could not put it down (& I never read non fiction).

I'm first in line!!!!!

I'm first in line!!!!!"
Can I get in line for that trip? I wish people spoke that way!

One of the hardest parts about waiting for Book 8 to come out is knowing I will blow through..."
I agree with you completely Diane! I have just started this series in the past few months and am already anticipating book 8(I am currently on The Fiery Cross). I think I may die of anticipation and haven't even had to wait between books yet.

If Not I highly recommended reading them before Echo.
I read half of Echo & stopped @ a friends advice read the Lord John Series, then started Echo over again & I am SO glad I did! (The Lord John Series are real fast reads btw.)
I love the matter of fact way Jamie tells Claire of their love. sniff sniff.

TY for the rec. I will check this book out... My oldest son is in the military USMC so I am sure this book will tie my emotions in knots (love a book that does that)

My point is that we come from a complicated world, now more than ever where people have lost touch, literally with each other. I think Claire said it best in "Outlander" after Jaime beats her, and she realized it still seemed like a stage to her sometimes. She was a nurse during WWII, and saw a lot of bad things, but it is different when killing a man is done face to face, and small actions, can have dire consequences, like they had the Redcoats on their tail, is different than mortar shelling, dropping bombs where you do not always see the enemies face. I think she meant war was less personal in many ways, and shelling or bombing a city, provokes a different reaction than in Jaiime's world .
Another excellent point she made was that although there were many inconveniences, this time was quiter, slower, and people behaved differently. Love was free to exist in ways people do not have time for anymore. Their relationship was not normal as she never left his side, and they were also BFFs....women normally were not so available like Claire was because J & C had no kids . Well at least as far as I know.. They were adults or in another place.
Jaime seems wonderful and kind and loyal, but he was a handful, too much for me. I could never have those fights they had....
Jaime was also a unique man, but he was always feeling guilty or responsible for everyone. I think that the fact he believed that he killed his father who dropped dead while watching him get beaten and unconscious in round #2., was something he never recovered from and why he let himself hold so much responsibility for everyone all the time. Now we know that he had an aneurysm, and he could have dropped dead at any moment. I was surprised Claire did not tell him that, but maybe in the 40's-60's aneurysms were not "discovered" yet so to speak.

I am not a Dr., but from what I have read and know they are like ticking time bombs....he could have dropped dead eating dinner. Even today you are lucky if it is found, as there are really no symptoms except a blinding headache and Dougal said he put his hand to his head and fell. Do you remember that NBC reporter who was embedded in the beginning of the Iraq war who literally hung up the phone with his wife took like 2steps and dropped dead. But that may have been a blood clot to the brain, so I could be wrong on that one.

I'm not a doctor either, lmao, though, so I really have no idea.
I googled though, it does sit in your brain like a dormant bomb, but by watching and monitoring your blood pressure you can kind of control it. So basically, the things that make a blood clot in your aorta get loose and travel to your brain causing a stroke are 'weakness in your artery wall', 'plaques of cholesterol', or 'hypertension' or high blood pressure. I'm thinking probably with Brian it was the last, which could have spiked because of what happened with Jamie.
Not that I'm saying at all that it was Jamie's fault, lol. It totally wasn't. He could only choose to do what he could with what was presented with him. He had no idea that his father would die, or that his father had this 'bomb' in his brain just waiting to be triggered.
“Ye lost your parents young, and wandered about the world, rootless. Ye loved Frank—“ his mouth compressed for an instant, but I thought he was unconscious of it. “—and of course ye love Brianna, and Roger Mac and the weans…but Sassenach—I am the true home of your heart, and I know that.”
He lifted my hands to his mouth and kissed my upturned palms, one and then the other, his breath warm and his beard-stubble soft on my fingers.
“I have loved other folk, and I do love many, Sassenach—but you alone hold all my heart, whole in your hands,” he said softly. “And you know that.”
