You're welcome, Cris.Another book I would recommend is The Book Thief. Very poignant with a real interesting narrator.
I'm just about to finish up A Real Piece of Work by Chris Orcutt. It is the first book in his Dakota Stevens Mystery series. I've enjoyed this detective's detective brought to life by a writer's writer.

I haven't read a Grisham in ages (I think the last one was The Summons which was published in 2002!) but I may have to add this one to my tbr pile. Enjoy the Hunger Games, they're great!

as well as
. Both of them are pretty good, but I think I prefer the tone of Changeless.

Okay, it's been a while since I updated. I finished Fool Moon, Bill, your right, Butcher's got a great style. Loved the book. I've read Bubba Snoddy #3 Bubba and the Missing Woman by C.L. Bevill and it was good (all three bubba books are fun, light enjoyable reads). I'm sure I fogot one or two books, but they'll come to me.I'm currently listenign to Declare by Tim Powers Narrated by Simon Prebble. It is a great way to start off the new year. Good book! more later (I'm only half way through).
I am almost halfway through
. I was expecting something else, IDK what exactly, a more magical experience maybe? It just has such wonderful reviews I wanted to be blown away by the book and want to not put it down. I am not getting that at all from this book.

I'm reading Alan Moore's graphic novel "From Hell". I was also trying to read "The Diary of a Young Girl" but had to put that aside for now. It's extremely well written for a 13 year old kid, but it just wasn't moving along well enough for me.
Started Heartless, so will soon have finished the Parasol Protectorate (or at least what has been released so far).

Ooh I read that a few years ago. Brutal but gripping as I remember it. How are you enjoying it?

Just started

I am currently reading The Laundry Man by Jake Needham - it's great so far, and think I'll be finished by tomorrow, it's difficult to put down!!
I've got two biographies that I'm tackling: Catherine The Great: Portrait Of A Woman and Cleopatra. Both are excellent and engaging but will take me a while since I'm also mixing in some fiction.
I'm reading The Winds of Khalakovo by Bradley P. Beaulieu. It's an Easturn Europe/Russian themed epic fantasy story. Very interesting so far.
Gemma wrote: "I am currently reading The Laundry Man by Jake Needham - it's great so far, and think I'll be finished by tomorrow, it's difficult to put down!!"Finished Laundry Man today, it was great! I have now Started a true story called - The Monster of Florence

Reading/Loving The Cat's Table, an engaging coming-of-age that also sneaks in a mystery. Great writing.

The Temple of My Familiar-Alice WalkerThe Electric Kool Aid Acid Test
and just also started Go Ask Alice, which I actually bought for my 18 1/2 year old daughter for Christmas, she finished, & told me I had to read too. That book came out the year I was born, & I've never read it. Finding it utterly captivating, & realistic, & sad...

Lisa, I swear to you that Go Ask Alice scared me straigt as a teenager. It scared me so much that I never walked down that road at all. An excellent choice.

Go Ask Alice is a very good book, I hope you think so too.
I finished Kill Alex Cross and expect to finish my current read, After the Auction today. I will be starting The Dream by Harry Bernstein, his 3 book memoir trilogy and 11/22/63 by Stephen King. I look forward to both of these books.
Finished The Dry Grass of August which I thought was good, not great. But I can hardly put down Rules of Civility which is well on its way to a 5 star rating from me. So smart and interesting.

I finished The Dream by Harry Bernstein today on the way to see War Horse at Lincoln Theater. I also began listening to 11/22/63 today. Tomorrow I plan on beginning War Horse, the book, the movie and show was based on and The Willow Tree, the last book in the trilogy written by Harry Bernstein. I am really on a reading roll at this time. Only hope it continues.

How was War horse? I've heard so many different opinions that I don't know whether I want to see it or not.
