School is weh. An eighth grader died the on Wednesday and there was this memorial at school on Friday and it was really touching, but it frustrates me that over half of the people there probably didn't even know the kid but pretended like they did.

Me: And there were all of the facebook posts about how tragic it was and how they wished they could have known him and whatever, but none of them would have been able to meet him, considering he's two years younger than us.

So I used my manipulative skill to convince this kid Nathan to do the rest if the work, and baby I am the queen of manipulation. :D He said thank you TO ME. Ha.

Me: "Funerals, I had decided, are for the living." I mean, that's what the entire thing on Friday was. It was incredibly moving. Everyone wore white, either out of respect or just not wanting to seem like a dick, or both.

My mother has a very close friend whose daughter went missing in September 2009. You might have heard of her, it was a really huge deal, and her dad's in jail now because his daughter disappearing like that drove him kind of crazy :( They found her body by an overpass in 2012. This girl had been living apart from her family with her brother for /years/. Her parents were working in the States to support them. Finally they were reunited, and literally two months afterwards she disappeared. I adore her mother. She is without a doubt the strongest person I know. But at her highschool, they had an assembly, and they asked the students how many people knew she existed. 10 people raised their hand. And how many people had talked to her? 3.

They still don't know who did it. Well - they're saying it was a suicide, but it doesn't look like a suicide to anyone.

Me: literal hundreds of people supported him. I mean, he had an aneurysm at school the Friday before it happened, but he died before they could perform a surgery because his blood pressure was too high. They set up tables where my friends and I usually sit for lunch for people to sign what I think was a poster with messages for him.

That's horrible. >_<

That reminds me of this girl in school. She's just extremely shy and self-conscious for some reasons I can relate to, and everybody sort of ignores her or barely acknowledges her. So I started befriending her, and she literally just blossomed. She's so nice and creative but it's like she's scared to be that person. Literally all I do is say hi and sit with her during lunch and listen, and it's as if that simple act of being there makes all the difference in the world.

Me: How I think of it is, how would that person have liked the attention? If I didn't have any friends at school, but I died, and lots of people spent their time making a poster with messages for me and stuff... I'd be happy :) That would be nice.

Awww, Van. That's actually me at university hahaha waiting for someone to befriend me! :((( Good on you for seeing the potential she has, there are an embarrassingly small amount of people who do that.

Nobody did it for me, and what I wouldn't have given to have a friend that first year of high school. She's great, though, she just needs encouragement. I feel like John. xD An excellent conductor of light.

Me: XD I'm horrible with feedback. My old math teacher used to have this thing where she'd ask us to give her feedback at how the unit went, what she did well, what we had trouble with, etc. Mine was always so negative. Like, I got an A in her class, but it was always like, "Your teaching was unclear and the notes were incomprehensible, and the textbook did nothing help me."

Me: XD I try to be honest without being mean, or else I feel bad. I'm not letting that happen here, though. The only thing I'm not doing is naming names, but I'm pretty sure my teacher will be able to tell who was who.

Maybe. The thing about school is that my mom doesn't want me to leave the state, and she makes the excuse that I don't have any money.

Me: XD My English teacher gave me a B literally because of one essay, and it was the first one of the year. If you look at my progress report from that quarter, it's AAAAAAACAAAAA and that summed up to a B for the entire quarter. I don't even know.
