Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9510 comments I just got an email from B&N saying they had bought Borders customer list. They let you opt out from further emails, which was a smart move. Wonder if they would have honored my Borders' gift card? They didn't say so. Moot point anyway.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments It sounds like a good thing that B&N bought the Borders customer list and are actively reaching out.
With all of the electronic options for reading growing, and the interface expanding beyond the print versions and changing the way we even think about novels and books, we still need bookstores or perhaps just stores that sell and share and provide books for browsing.

i got that email, too. opted out since the closest b&n is about an hour away. don't you have to pay for a b&n discount card? the email said it would honor cards for premium- or whatever they are called- border's members. our border's is going to be a BAMM- expected to open around november, i think. i've only been in one BAMM- it was down south and they had a HUGE religious section. is that typical of a BAMM? or was it just the location?

BarryP (barrypz) | 3502 comments I was Border's plus, it seems b&n will be offering me something. I am also a BAMM member, and they are the ones opening the store a mile or so away.

it sounded like your borders plus would just transition into a b&n card. at least that's what it sounded like to me, but not sure. have you heard when BAMM is opening?

Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments Sherry: The BAMM website has a noticeable focus on religious titles. The location near me is constantly changing their front displays to more and more shelves of gifts and pick-up items the last few times I have been in there, and often doesn't have a book I might be looking for, so even though it is only about 4 miles away from me I don't go in that often. (especially after my Kindle) - I used to use it like a card shop for greeting cards and drop in all the time, but they have a lesser offering of cards so I have skipped that type of trip.

BarryP (barrypz) | 3502 comments I asked about BAMM on the last day of Borders. They said the target was first of November.
