Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Discerningly picky? :)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Got mine, it looks good, as soon as I've finished Life of Pi, I'll start it.

Chookgate | 74 comments I've had this in my tbr collection for ages ... better get around to reading it then! (When I've finished with this tree book I'm wrestling)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Ich. Tree book wrestling. I so don't miss that!

Calm Lorraine. Calm. Deep cleansing breath. Now private message Ingnite, ask her to tell you what she thought of it then plagiarise her words. ;)

What are you thinking of Life of Pi, Lynne?

Patti ! Are you suggesting that I somehow cheat?

message 14: by Sue (new)

Sue | 15 comments Hmm, I've got this in my TBR list, wonder how quick I can finish the book I started last night?!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments No, not at all. Consider it as paying homage to our Ingnite. ;)

Gee, shucks, Geoff!

message 19: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments 27% in and enjoying the characters and the plot.I am also enjoying learning about a religion I was not familiar with, the book is obviously well researched.

message 20: by Freddiesmum (new)

Freddiesmum | 137 comments Downloaded ready to read, looks like my kind of thing and looking forward to starting it! hmmm...which do I start with?? hows a girl to choose.....

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Life of Pi, Patti, I loved it, I like Indian characters, I didn't enjoy eating the zebra though, there was a lot of talk of it being spiritual etc, but I didnt see the message, he had faith but it didn't convert me to anything. I love tigers though, I thought it was just a very unusual story well told.

message 22: by Angela (new)

Angela (bubblyfish) | 53 comments This one sounds good - I've downloaded it but I'm currently only 5% through A Game of Thrones so have to finish that first. I also downloaded The Moonstone as that's oen I've been meaning to read.

Good choices for October.

message 23: by Linda (new)

Linda | 33 comments I'm about 60% through and enjoying it so far. It's well written; as well as having a good story and engaging characters, it is also very informative about a religion that I know very little about. Good choice, Lorraine :)

Linda, I didn't really choose, it's a bit like a group choice really :)

Sorry Lorraine - I was just going by what Simon said in the op - but it's a great read so take the credit for it :).

edited to say that I finished this book last night and enjoyed it so much that I've already downloaded a sample of the second one.

message 29: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I'm only a short way into it and it's my second reading of the book in just a few months but like all good books it stands more than one reading.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I've just opened The Righteous as I've decided to read it next. I hit go-to cover as I do like to start a book from the very beginning. I didn't find the cover. I found something even better!

Michael, I'm really pleased with how you've made sure there is a blurb and explanation of added material at the end of the book, right on the first page.

Other authors please take note. This is the way to do it!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments About 15% in and quite gripped. I'm glad I'm reading this!

message 32: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Just finished it. Can't find the words to say anything about it at the moment, I think I need to process my thoughts first. Bit emotional about it I think... not in a bad way though !

I really like the group questions at the end, maybe Michael will host a "group discussion" when all of us have read the book, I'd love to know more :)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I'm struggling a bit to get the feel of the surroundings, as its a totally new world to me. I keep getting Amish type images but I know they aren't appropriate, perhaps because the whole culture is different that I'm not empathising very much.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I'm at 76% now and still enjoying it very much. I find the religious aspect quite fascinating.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Just finished it. Sort of drifted off for a while too. No fault of the book. It's just so hot in here I'm a bit dopey.
I enjoyed it. The ending didn't disappoint me.

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

Just started it this morning!

message 37: by Dan (new)

Dan | 10 comments I'm 28% through, only just started it at 11pm last night! I'm really enjoying it - just bought the other 2 books in the series, before they shoot up in price in February!

message 38: by Dan (new)

Dan | 10 comments 89% through, should finish it on my lunch break!

message 39: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I still have to start this, i should do it after i finish the one i'm on now.

message 40: by Dan (new)

Dan | 10 comments Finished! Time to get back to The Moonstone now

message 41: by Fiona (new)

Fiona (hernextdoor) | 2 comments Also finished! I found it quite hard going at times but wanted to see how it ended. Definitely worth the read but won't be going on to read the sequel.

message 42: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I started it tonight. It was a toss up between this and Killers but since this one was shorter I picked it. I am 26% of the way through already :o) Quite enjoying it. I lived with 2 Mormons at uni for a year and I keep coming across things they mentioned which reminds me of the good old days back in first year halls...
