Hi! My name is Kristen and I'm new to the group! Looking forward to being an active member! Thank you! :)

With only 2 ebooks to your name, I'm thinking the best thing initially for you to do is start checking out other members' lists. The best place for this IMHO (in my humble opinion) is the Pick It For Me (PIFM) Challenge. You can't join in on this one as it is already in progress for February - but you CAN read all the suggested books that people have chosen for another member to read. All the suggestions are based off 8 themes. This is a great place to start trolling for ideas - see what appeals. You'll see all sorts of genre in these lists, but the one thing in common is that they are all (or nearly all ;) romance.
Here is the link to go and have a look: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Best Paranormal Romance Series: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/3...
Favourite Historical Romance Novels: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...
Also, don't be afraid to go check out our members booklists. Just click on their avatar/picture, and see what books they have read and rated. You'll soon find members with similar tastes :)

I started with the Monthly challenge which allowed me to work out which of my many books to read next, but you might be better to try the March Pick It For Me Challenge, so long as you are comfortable having a go at recommending books that you probably haven't read to another member! (Could be a bit awkward - but the mods and the host of the challenge would be very happy to help if you ask nicely ;)

I'm Martin, retired history of art teacher and lover of art, classics and romance (especially gay)."
Welcome Martin! I hope you enjoy the group!

Hi Meira~Blue! Love your story, my grandmother was a librarian so books have been a part of my life as long as I can remember. But I think it is wonderful for everyone to discover reading whatever it takes to get them there!! Jane has given you some wonderful advice and a bit of a warning, you will find more books here than you can imagine! My TBR just grows and grows!!

LOL! While the rest of us are trying whittle down our TBR list, you can go at it full-throttle, Meira~Blue :)
It can be really hard to work out where to start, so maybe the Monthly challenge can help you decide - here is the link: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/......

That's how I started, then upped it to 5, then I hung out at 8 for a few months even when I was getting all 10. That's when I threw in the towel and just went for 10 every month! I love fitting my books into the challenge month after month!

That and spending time with our families instead of our books and dirty houses! =P

Oh yeah!! But I think I can blame my husband for some of the dirty house ;) esp when he pulls me off bookwork/housework to help put up a fence... (But I'd much rather be reading!!!)

I hope to see some of you around in the group activities. :)

I'm new and have no idea how this thing works (figuring it out but slowly), but am a devoted historical romance lover and always have been. Can anyone suggest any good groups to join related to this genre?
Question: how does one make friends? I have not been successful at this at all. Do you have to really know the person? Do they have to be your Facebook friend? I don't have a profile on Facebook so that's sorta out for me for now.
I have to say goodreads is like crack for the book lover! I spent more time updating my collection of books, checking out what I want to read next, and updating what I am reading than I have actually read this week, all due to goodreads. I love this site and am dying to get into some of the challenges and other stuff going on that I don't even know about yet!
Cheers and lovely Monday to everyone, Kate

Hi Kate. You will meet friends while participating in challenges and group activities. Feel free to add me as your friend if you'd like!

I just joined and I am feeling slightly overwhelmed by all the activity in this group!! But, that's a good thing :)
My name is Margaret and I enjoy reading all kinds of Romance novels. My favourite go-to genre is romantic suspense, with historical romance a close second.
I can't wait to get started on some of the challenges and discover some new authors.

Feel free to send me a friend request (you can check out my profile if you want to see more about me and my reading preferences).
I love historical romance too, but have only found out about Groups on here so haven't discovered any historical romance onces yet. But I am sure they are out there!

Hey Allie,
Jane Austen was my gateway drug into romance novels; Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite books of all time. Welcome and enjoy the challenges!
