Clockwork Angel

Stop saying Will is like Jace.
I see where the people who say that are coming from, but I didn't really think they were that much alike either. Will gave off more of this dark and brooding vibe like you said, but he's not BAD. Unless you mean bad as in bad boy, 'cuz he is that.
I like Jace but I think Will has something extra going for him. He does have the bad boy vibe that Jace lacked. Overall I think the characters from the Infernal Devices have more depth than the characters from MI.
Will is Jace's great grate ancestor so you can definitly tell were all of Jaces weird humour comes from.Though both are difenitly not alike.
Will and Jace both have the same sense of humour and sarcasm. Will experienced something terrible in the past that made him so bad. He pushed everyone away to protect himself. I do not believe that Will was all bad. He could not be loyal to Jem if he was that bad. A bad person would never care for anyone else.I love both Jace♥ and Will♥.
i think there simmiler in some ways but have there oun kind of personality and are two diffrent people. but i still love them both. but need to have a better ending to explainCOFA, and need need to know why Will gose to magnus at the end of the book.

Im reading Clockwork Prince.

how are you reading Clockwork Prince???
*jealous*
lol i agree as well i really need o read the second book of infernal devices series! Will and Jace are alike and very different. You'll easily know which is which if it came into a test of characters. Though i still think Will is holding a lot back especailly since we know pretty much nothing about him and everything about Jace. It saids that in clockwork prince that Will opens up a little more to Tessa. We can't really say if they are or aren't alike until we know more about him. Does anyone get what i'm sayin?

i did too and i get a hardcover, but i still have to wait until December witch is totally unfair.
Jace and Will both fell in love deeply. Jace with Clary and Will with Tessa...:) And the girls loved them always despite their rejection.

i didn't even know a library could do that!
heh, i'm gonna go do that right now!

true that jace and wil are a different, but if you compare the books and characters you would think that tessa is clary, jem is simon, jasamine is isabelle which leaves will as jace. they both are kind of arrogant, witty and good-looking but i agree that jace would be a way better bf.
Nora wrote: "true that jace and wil are a different, but if you compare the books and characters you would think that tessa is clary, jem is simon, jasamine is isabelle which leaves will as jace. they both are ..."I never thought that but you are 100 percent true! :)
Yes! Very true!Proccess of elimination.
wait, but does that mean that Tessa will end up with Will, like Clary ended up with Jace?
I don't think they are like a 100% alike. But you can defiantly see some of the characteristics they share. Like the humor and sarcasm (looks like it runs in the family:). But Will seems to have a lot of sadness. And it looks like he had a bad childhood as well. I agree that Will has a more in depth character than Jace. But i still love them both...and Jem too!!
I think they are both huge softies on the outside of all the cockiness and sarcastic comebacks. But Will seems to be tortured by something, and doesn't want to tell anyone about it. Jace is a little bit more open to Clary about things, where as Will is silent and trying not to fall in love with her.But the only thing that they have in common is that Will is like a really distant relative of Jace, they are both cocky and annoyingly sarcastic and they are both really hot...
Samantha wrote: "I think they are both huge softies on the outside of all the cockiness and sarcastic comebacks. But Will seems to be tortured by something, and doesn't want to tell anyone about it. Jace is a littl..."More like really REALLY hot....
;D
Melissa wrote: "...Will also tells lies where Jace tells the truth, even if it hurts. Will keeps secrets and hides his pain, unable to talk with Tessa about it but Jace shares his problems with Clary."Jace also tell lies, when it comes to protecting Clary. Remember City of Glass. And Will had already terrible secret when he met Tessa. He tried his best to get rid of her although sometimes he was not as powerful as he wanted to. Jace started it with sort of happiness with Clary. His lies began when they have to be separated by 'sibling' cause.
Whereas Will felt unhappy and miserable by his relationship with Tessa, Jace was less miserable in love. And Clary loved Jace to death, while Tessa's love was tested by Will's rejection.
And speaking about being hot. It was Will whom Magnus considered as beauty.
I love both Jace and Will. I do not want to choose one against another. They are both awesome and good looking.
Melissa wrote: "Thanks, Erin! =o)"No Problem :) :) Jace seems way more open and eaiser to get along with even if he is still difficult....
Melissa wrote: "Oh yeah, Jace did lie to Clary about the departure time, I forgot about that, but I can't remember any other time he lied. Is there? "Jace lied to Clary about what he felt about Clary being in City of Glass.
And Will had dark past that no one even knew what. And the series had gone as far as book 1 to actually determine everything about Will. I believe that Will was not as bad as he 'advertised' himself.
Loving Jace did not mean that we should love Will less. But hey...that's my idea. You surely have every right to judge Will by comparing him to Jace.
Melissa wrote: "He loved her enough to know that she was better off without him." "
Doesn't that mean that Will valued himself low, not that he actually was low. Jem would not have been his friend if that was the case. And Will liked Jem for Jem would not break his heart. Will was scared of something, so horrified he had to chaste anyone away.
I feel it is way boring to compare Will to his descendant (Jace). Love them both.
I hate that Jace had to face another bad fortune in City of Fallen Angels. It was like coming back to square one, when he found out he was Clary's
brother. I think the problem will remain the same until City of Heavenly Fire. Ms Clare should not add more problems to my poor beloved Jace...

I am wondering about this."No, there is nothing about the star shape on Will' shoulder, or one that saw him without his shirt.
Unlike you, I hate comparing my beloved characters. Jace, Will, Daniel, Prince Ash and Eric.
I doubt that anyone will heal Jem. Someone would have done it long time ago. I think he would sacrifice himself for Tessa or Will although I doubt that Ms Clare would kill any of her main characters. What is left is for Jem to fall for Sophie. Maybe Sophie would die for him and he owned his life to her.
I love comparing my beloved characters with my less beloved characters...:) Jace and Simon or Will and Jem...:)
I can't stand it. I know I should have this written under another subject....:)
I still think Jace and Will are similar. They may have their differences but the way they act and the things they say....too similar.
Jace and Will are indeed different people but they share some similar stuff come on theyre relatives, but Will isn't that bad. Cassie does make her main boy characters have tortured pasts, but Will isn't a bad person. He just does different ways to express himself Jace is bad too ya know.
SamanthaJ wrote: "...but Will isn't a bad person. He just does different ways to express himself Jace is bad too ya know. "IKR! I wonder why some readers consider Will a bad person.
Thank the LORD someone made this group. I cannot express how much it's annoyed me that everyone is forever saying 'when I first read about Will, I immediately thought, 'Jace'. I would like to launch into an essay about this but alas I don't have the time.
When I first started reading Clockwork Angel, I did automatically think "Will is exactly like Jace" but as I read on the similarities started to fade. Jace may try and act tough and cool but he is truly a good and kind-hearted person. I don't get that same impression with Will. He seems like he's not just acting like a jerk, he really is a jerk and Jace is most certainly not a jerk.

Personally I find that I have a better chance of finding a guy that looks like Will, rather than a guy who looks like Jace. Where the heck am I supposed to find a guy with golden hair, and tawny eyes, with the right face?
Honestly, I like Will better than Jace. That wasn't the question though was it? Oh well, thought I'd just throw that itty bit of information in there :)
First, I will say that Will is not bad. He just has a lot of issues going on that we don't know about yet. One of them is probably about that Cecile chick. I'd say that they are somewhat similar. They both have issues that they need to deal with, and they are definitely both charming. xDWe can't really compare them yet, because we have only read one book about Will, and that was mainly his outside appearance. I'm assuming that Cassandra Clare put a few things in there to make them parallel characters.
~A girl they love, but can't have.
~A best friend/parabati
~A good looking female frined who is close enough to be a sister.
~An Villain who want to hurt the girl they love
~ A bunch of issues they don't want to tell anybody about
~And the most obvious, they are related.
OH YEAH! don't forget about love triangles!
Don't get me wrong, there are differences too, but we can't have the same exact character. lol

Come on, Jace is good, Will is bad.
I don't find that much similarity.
Sure, they both don't want to be with Clary/Tessa, but it's for different reasons.
Jace had a pure heart, despite his trying to hide it.
Will is the bad-boy, he has the dark charm Jace lacked of.
While Jace always sounds like deep in his heart is a sweetie, but is afraid to show that, because he has always been told love is a weakness, Will seems to be like he really is a jerk. But not totally in a bad way. In fact, if I have to tell you the truth, I'd rather have him that Jace.
I admit that at first I thought they sounded alike, but you can clearly see the differences going on with the book.
I can't stand reading of people who declare 'Will and Jace are the same'. There's a thin but strong difference between the two, and if they can't grasp it then they probably haven't fully understood one or both of the characters.
P.S. (afterthought) After reading Clockwork Prince, I still think the same. I mean, Will was bad in the first book. Because he had to, but he still was that. So I think I got that right.
However, in CP we got to know why he behaved like that, and I think that differentiated him even more from Jace.
What do you think?
