Madison sat down and reclined to stare at the sky. Rumors about the class' first mission were circulating, though he wasn't that excited for it. His power was a bit more circumstantial, and he had no desire to be the Aquaman of the team. So for now he was content to think and appreciate the freedom while he had it.
Madison's eyes flicked to the shadow and Tyson's playing with it. A year ago, he would have jumped. But after being at Next Gen for a while, he got used to it. "Shadow Manipulator?"
"Nice." Okay, if he ended up on a team with this guy, he would almost assuredly develop an Aquaman complex. "How long have you been here?"
"As have I." This kid gave him the creeps. Madison had to get out of here, and fast. "But anyway. I have a class in a few minutes. I should probably get going."
((Hey, Erio's reaction was legitimate. And I wouldn't say that Septimus was scared of Tyson :p))
Madison walked off, back to the mansion. He didn't bother portalling.
((Fadez....))

Alpine sat in the long grass, enjoying the indian summer day. She let the sun shine on her blonde hair, her pale skin soaking it up like a sponge. She giggled as the rays warmed her up.

"AAHH!" Alpine jumped when she heard Jessie. She put her hands out and encased herself in a golden orb of light, looking out fearfully at the boy.

Alpine shrunk away, more light erupting from her outstretched palms. "I did it again!" She squeaked, tears welling up in her eyes. "Not again!" She started to cry. The light fell away as she curled up in a ball, sobbing. "I-I didn't mean t-to!"

She had him worried now. Jessie knelt down, frowning in a kind concerned way as he reached out a hand to help the stranger up. "What's wrong?" he asked. "What didn't you mean to do? Don't worry, you didn't do anything bad." The phrases came tumbling out at random, but at the moment he didn't care. What mattered now was comforting the strange sobbing girl curled up on the ground.
((I know...I'll write one soon, perhaps Friday, as I'm gonna be really busy Tues.-Thurs.))
"I did! I did do something bad! I made the lights come out again!" She bawled, small frame racked with the sobs. "And Mommy and Daddy will say I--" She paused for a second, then realized that they were no longer on this earth and able to say any thing. She started crying again at that morbid thought. "It's all my fault...it's all my fault...."

She sobbed into him. "It's my fault the light came and t-took Mommy and D-daddy....And it's not natural!" She rocked back and forth, hiccuping as the tears streamed down.

The tears dried, and Alpine was quiet for a minute. "It was my fault. If the light didn't come then Mommy and Daddy would still be here and they'd still love me...and they wouldn't be afraid." She said bitterly, thinking of the years when her parents had feared her.

"I'm Alpine." She said softly, still clutching her knees. The little girl looked utterly helpless, with the silvery paths of tears on her face.
