How exciting to have Zach Drake, the hero from Rocky Mountain Homecoming, a September release from Love Inspired Historical, with us today.
1. Tell me the most interesting thing about you. I find the greatest amount of joy from working my hands raw on the ranch. Although I wasn’t raised on a ranch, I’ve acquired a real knack for dealing with the day to day operations. 2. What do you do for fun? I enjoy getting together with my brothers and their families, when I have time. And when I feel like being alone, I love to write. Poetry and the like…but I don’t go around sharing my penned words with others, so I’d rather if you kept that between me and you. Deal? 3. What do you put off doing because you dread it? The only thing I dread doing is going into a cave. I have often thought about facing this fear headlong and heading into a dark cave, but somehow the idea never makes it past the point of forming in my head. 4. What are you afraid of most in life? Caves. And being ridiculed. Due to a traumatic experience in a cave when I was 12, I developed a stutter that made me a bit of a laughing stock with some of the kids at school. After overcoming the stutter a few years ago, I have avoided any similar situations. 5. What do you want out of life? Like my three brothers, I’d like to be a help to those around me. I’d also love to have a ranch of my own someday. I’d love to marry someday, too, but I get a little tongue-tied when it comes to women…besides, I don’t think my heart has ever fully gotten over Ivy Harris, the rancher’s daughter. 6. What is the most important thing to you? The most important thing to me is to be a good, honest, and hard-working man. I want to do right by my boss, Mr. Harris. He entrusted a whole lot to me when he brought me on as foreman of this ranch. 7. Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book? Actually, I am fairly partial to reading Shakespeare. When I decided to do what I could to overcome my stutter, I would read aloud from Shakespeare’s writings. After many long and arduous months, my hard work finally paid off. 8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I would permanently remove the fear I have of stuttering again. I haven’t stuttered in at least two years now, but the fear is always there. 9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet? My owl…Buddy. I found him when he was just a wee little thing and raised him to the fine owl he is today. He took to me like I was his daddy, following me around the barnyard and perching on my shoulder when I’d come out in the mornings… He’s been a real friend, of sorts. 10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why? I would travel back to the time when I was 12…and when I was foolishly trying to save Ivy Harris, the love of my life. My gallantry got me ridiculed then shoved into a hole in the cave by one of the other kids. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t let my heart get so taken.
This was a great book! Loved Buddy the owl. Anyone who has not read Pamela's books yet I would strongly advise to start with the first book Rocky Mountain Match and read them in order. Each brother revisits the other books and they are all so unique and worth getting to know! Here is my blog with the book order and reviews. Such an awesome series!
