Cheryl (cherylllr) | 363 comments I'm holding ISBN 9780142402443 in my hands. It's a trade paperback, not a hardcover. But the image on the cover is the associated with the ebook and the hardcover, with the merman holding something like a crystal ball. It is not the all blue cover.

Should it be fixed? Or is this a case of re-using ISBNs? And, since I'm a new librarian myself, should I be figuring how to fix it myself? Or how could I find out that I don't want to fix it, but rather do something else maybe like add another edition?

The edition already listed on GR is a paperback, not hardcover.

Probably.

Correct. We call those alternate-cover editions.

Cheryl (cherylllr) | 363 comments Yes, the cover I want is on a hardcover.

Thank you for explaining alternate cover editions.

Ok, I personally don't care enough to go to that much work (mainly because of the risk I'll mess something up; I am cursed by an ability to make errors in any project requiring more than two or three details).

But if someone does want to make the catolog more completely accurate, the ISBN that I reviewed is a paperback with the merman cover.

Cheryl (cherylllr) | 363 comments Actually, we've got another problem. Some of the descriptions say that there are seven stories in the collection. My copy, and several other editions, has only six stories. I don't want to change the editions that say 'seven' because I imagine that it's possible that another story was added later, maybe for the digital editions.

Is there a good way to find out whether some editions do indeed have seven stories? Or should I change the descriptions that say seven to say six?

I would not change any existing data without substantial proof. It in unfortunately all too possible that there were some editions with a bonus story, and some without.

Cheryl (cherylllr) | 363 comments Okay, thank you. I will make sure my review does give the info. on all these issues, then. Appreciate the advice!
