The emptiness

Beyond the ornate door he stood
The stance of a boy
Who had yet to discover
Who he was
Weighed down by expectation
No colour but his eyes
Warm brown eyes full of unknown knowledge
You saw everything and nothing in those eyes
I never found out why
Our breaths rose as one
Our hearts beat as one
Him, me and darkness
Together
But, why was he there?
I don’t know.

But he was there.
And that’s all that matters.
