Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore this book. But has anyone else noticed that in the book Will is Will HERONDALE? Which is Jace's official last name. So we kind of already know that Jem isn't the ancestor, right? I don't know, it was just something I noticed.

I thought that was the point of the books though, to learn all about their ancestors?
Or am I wrong?
I haven't read it yet because I heard it ended on a cliffhanger so I was waiting until the next book.
I thought I had heard someone mentioning that before though.

That is the point of the books - to know more about ancestors but also the history of the families we have met in TMI. We don't know for sure that Jace is actually descended from Will - there have to be other Herondales. We don't know that any of these characters are Jace's direct ancestors.

I read somewhere that by the end of the ID series Cassie would do a family tree to link it all up for everyone
