Muphyn As Chrissie nicely pointed out, assuming I could put my list together in a weekend was a little too ambitious. So it's just some ideas at the moment and I will refine and add as I go along (and as I decide on my rules, none so far other than 52 countries, which is hugely ambitious for me).

Look forward to getting more suggestions and ideas so feel free to comment etc. I like to keep my TBR-shelf out of control... :)

message 4: by Muphyn (new)

Muphyn That is correct! :D I thought I may as well include it here!! You should too. ;)

message 5: by Marieke (new)

Marieke | 209 comments yes, of course!
what other countries do we have coming up in 2012? also Asmah's World Lit group will be reading in Asia, i think. Asmah picks fantastic books.

Chrissie Muphym, thanks for reminding me about Fieldwork. When it was first published I douldn't get one. Then I forgot... What has always intrigued me about this book is that although it is a novel, the author and the main character in the book have the same name! Is it all fiction? Will this become clear? Do you know?

Hi, Marieke!

Janice (jamasc) Another idea for Sudan is Tears of the Desert: A Memoir of Survival in Darfur. It's quite a disturbing memoir of the atrocities in Darfur, so not for light readers.

message 9: by Chrissie (new)

Chrissie Janice, that is my only book for Sudan.

Uh, I have no idea! I bought it really cheap at some bargain sale and just picked it up because it sounded somewhat interesting. This challenge is the perfect fit for getting through all these unread books I own! (I actually thought "Fieldwork" took place in Cambodia and then discovered that is was Thailand, oh well, that's next door I guess.)

Thanks Janice! I'll have a look at it. (At the moment, I'm just trawling through my unread books piles and am discovering all these books set in different countries... I may not even need to buy or borrow a single book for this challenge!)

Betty Muphyn, the aroma from "The Sicilian Kitchen" is divine. I'm shelving it in TBR.

message 14: by Chrissie (new)

Chrissie Muphyn; I do believe Fieldworks is pure fiction. Please let me know when you readit. I can read you review if you have one. :0)

I caught a whiff of it and added it, too. Smells a little spicy but with a hint of sweet. :-)"

I KNOW!! And I got it as such a bargain! :D It's quite a nice edition too, a big book though, not something you'd want to carry around with you for commuting or whatever.

I think I've got Fieldwork around here somewhere.... We just remodeled and moved a bunch of furniture so it's a little like the Collyer brothers in here.

Visited Countries Map from TravelBlog

message 18: by Betty (new)

Betty Ha-ha. The list of countries from Jenny transformed into a map of countries by Muphyn. That's how it works. Thanks for showing how it's done!!

message 19: by Muphyn (new)

Muphyn Hehe - yes, that and I also wanted something for Ukraine. :) The map came out looking a bit weird though, all squashed together.

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 253 comments The map looks amazing, Murphyn. I want one too :)

You can easily get it from TravelBlog! All you have to do is tick the countries you want to 'travel' to and then generate a map. The website generates some lovely html code that you can then paste into the comment box - and voila, you have a map! :D

I love this, thank you for the link. I haven't travelled that much as you have, but it's nice to follow my own progress.
