Kiwidude | 6 comments Hi folks,

Never done this before so hopefully in the right place. I thought I would try the graph of my shelves showing dates of publication, but the scaling was all wrong due to some really "bad" data as "outliers". These are the books on my shelves that seem to have a problem with first published date:

Free Fall
The Grapes of Wrath
The 5th Horseman
Tales from Earthsea

I am guessing someone has the power to do something about books that appear to allegedly have been first published in the years of 200, 480, 1111 and 1386 respectively? ;-)

David Prochnow (nevid) | 3 comments this one needs to be corected too: 'Der Besuch der alten Dame' .
year of first publication is 1956, not 1388 ;)

I corrected the date. ملاقات بانوی سالخورده was the one causing problems, can someone who knows Arabic(?) look into it to make sure it's the same book? I find it odd that someone added it manually and put such a wrong publication date there.

Noah (cardboardsphen) | 2 comments I noticed a bunch of these too. There's no record of anyone changing the original publication date in the librarian change log, so I don't have any idea where this information is coming from (nor why it's changing user-entered data). I'm happy to manually fix them, but it would be nice to know how they got changed in the first place and that they wouldn't arbitrarily change in the future again.

For example, A Wizard of Earthsea shows that it was changed from to "1968" from "1386" in Dec 2009, from "1883" in Aug 2011, and then again from "1386" today (by me); but there is not record of it being changed to any of those dates. If the data is being imported from somewhere, why doesn't that show up in the logs, and why is it incorrect?

Tom Dale | 1 comments me too - working my way through those in #11 (some of which I'd seen myself). The dates don't seem to correspond to anything logical though but look more like a bad import of data from a badly labelled field.

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 316 comments It probably has to do with all the database stuff going on with getting rid of Amazon. Lovely, eh?

David Prochnow (nevid) | 3 comments Here is another one Sherlock Holmes und sein erster Fall. - As this is the »Gloria Scott«, year of first publication should be 1893. Thank you.

Btw.: Is there any way to gain the rights to edit book-data?

Marilyn (txblaize) | 9 comments Hi David

The oldest date will automatically replace the previous incorrectly listing of the first publication for all listings.

This is an easy fix.

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments I have changed the date and rescued the book
