Mike Rentas (mikerentas) | 65 comments Be honest: did you notice the misspelling in the title before it was pointed out in the book? I missed it :)

Poly (xenphilos) I noticed it but only because the cover has the different shades of grey.

I haven't started reading yet, so I guess not! Is it supposed to be ReadMe?

Also, we've been pronouncing it wrong on the podcast... Neal Stephenson says it "Ream De."

Ryan (sweeneyowns) | 43 comments I think it is ReamDe but I also think its no coincident that its shaded so that it looks like read me. I mean how cool is that!! A little play on words is always fun.

Mike Rentas (mikerentas) | 65 comments Interesting - I was mentally pronouncing it "reamed", which seemed to make sense given its meaning. But then, I should know better than to trust my gut when it comes to Neal Stephenson words (it took me a few minutes to translate "both-haviors" into "bot-haviors"). I'm reading on my iPad, so I didn't notice the shading of the letters on the cover.

Extremely minor spoiler (~100 pages in, revealed as soon as the title comes up in the book):

(view spoiler)

Aaron (scruffynerfer) Well I have read it as 'Ream De'. I know you guys over the pond have a different cover to us in the UK and that the letters are faded which made me originally think it was 'Read Me' but with the artwork we have here we don't have any faded letters so I'm reading it as it looks

Suzanne | 50 comments I have a difficult time not reading the title as "Read me"! So apparantly I'm in the maker's target demographic =)

message 8: by Colin (new)

Colin | 278 comments yeah, i agree Suzanne. Even before i saw the cover with the colouring change, brainpan makes the words go read me. I was thinking it was Stephenson's desperation as an author for people to pick up his books. Something that i wholeheartedly endorse.

Nick (cykoduck) | 26 comments At least it's not called SteaMle , otherwise you might not have bought it :)

Poly (xenphilos) Speaking of subliminal messaging, current (10/05/11) XKCD:

Philip (heard03) | 383 comments Gotta love that when I searched Reamde on Goodreads it asked me this:

Did you mean: reamed

message 12: by Mark (new) - rated it 3 stars

Mark Miller (mercutiom) | 28 comments According to the audiobook's reading, it's pronounced Re-Ám-De. I'm only about 10% through, and I really hope this is explained further on. I too was reading it as readme with I first saw the title.

Brian A. | 47 comments I noticed the misspelling immediately but thought it was reMADE misspelled and not reADME....so there's that....

It's funny because about halfway through the book, the actor starts pronouncing it "reem-dee" like everyone else.

Of course, he also says "submarine gun" a couple of times.
