Are these books a work of art or just some classic tale of the vampire and human?

I enjoyed the series but is it just me its too played out the classic tale of a human and vampire! There will defiantly not be classics.

I think they're a light read. Not a work of art, not a classic, not garbage, just some light fluffy books.
I definitely do not they are a work of art by any means. But I don't think they are terrible either. I enjoyed them but I don't think they are the "greatest books ever."
I agree with all of the above, but I think this series is popular not because of its story-line (which is cliche to say the least) but because of Meyer's uncanny ability to capture the teenage female psyche on paper.
