We all have a different reading style. Found this and thought it would be fun to share. You all are terrific poll takers:

1. How many books do you generally have ready to read at one time. How do you pick which one(s) you
want to read at the moment.

2. What is your favorite reading style. Audio books, kindles, mp3's, cd's, good old books, other, or some combination of each.

3. Do you read multiple books at one time.

4. Does the genre of book determine the priority of what you read.

5. Do you switch off from one book to another in the same day, (how many)?

6. When is your favorite time of day to read? and/or favorite day?

7. What is one or more motivations for you to read?

8. Do you have a special/favorite place you like to read? home, back yard, park, coffee shop, etc.

9. Do you like to read with people around you, or by yourself.

1. How many books do you generally have ready to read at one time. How do you pick which one(s) you

I currently have about 45-50 books in my house in my to read stash. One's that have been there the longest, ones recommended by friends, something out of the blue, not planned.

2. What is your favorite reading style. Audio books, kindles, mp3's, cd's, good old books, other, or some combination of each.
I do kindles, regular books, and CD's.

3. Do you read multiple books at one time.
YES, currently have 3 going on.

4. Does the genre of book determine the priority of what you read.
Sometimes. Depends what I've just finished, or if I have a deadline to get something done. Example: When we finished Skippy, I needed something a lot lighter and shorter to get me back on track, by the way, like your post about Ruprecht. He was my favorite character.

5. Do you switch off from one book to another in the same day, (how many)? I usually have a book going in my car, and one going at home, so usually 2 or 3.

6. When is your favorite time of day to read? and/or favorite day? At meal time. Love to read and eat. I also am very productive on Sundays. Other time too, but these are my favorites.

7. What is one or more motivations for you to read? A certain series I've been reading, a new thread that I want to learn about, bookclubs, recommendations from friends.

8. Do you have a special/favorite place you like to read? home, back yard, park, coffee shop, etc. Home, backyard with my cat.

9. Do you like to read with people around you, or by yourself.
By myself.

I am usually in the midst of like 10 books.

2. What is your favorite reading style. Audio books, kindles, mp3's, cd's, good old books, other, or some combination of each.
I prefer regular ole books- haven't yet tried the e-reader.

3. Do you read multiple books at one time.
Oh yes.

4. Does the genre of book determine the priority of what you read.
Not specifically- just whatever I feel like doing.

5. Do you switch off from one book to another in the same day, (how many)?
Sure why not! :)

6. When is your favorite time of day to read? and/or favorite day?
I love reading midday- feels indulgent.

7. What is one or more motivations for you to read?
Pleasure, or sometimes motivation- like the triathlon/running books I have been reading.

8. Do you have a special/favorite place you like to read? home, back yard, park, coffee shop, etc.
Mostly home

9. Do you like to read with people around you, or by yourself.
Usually alone, but I can definitely read around others, like on an airplane

I can’t pass up a survey.

1. How many books do you generally have ready to read at one time? How do you pick which one(s) you want to read at the moment?

I try not to go above 4, but I usually have something extra going off-the-record, like a parenting book or something.

2. What is your favorite reading style? Audio books, kindles, mp3s, CDs, good old books, other, or some combination of each?

I heart my Kindle. The only thing not worth reading via Kindle is children’s books! I hate holding up heavy hardcover books, or keeping pages open, or having Charlotte rip out my bookmark and then hand it to me, trying to be helpful. Also, when reading in public, I like that people can’t see what I’m reading. Sometimes you want to read Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants without any judgment.

3. Do you read multiple books at one time.
Yep.

4. Does the genre of book determine the priority of what you read.

Priority, not really. But I try not to have two of the same type of book going at once.

5. Do you switch off from one book to another in the same day, (how many)?

If I’m spending more than 25 seconds reading that day, yes.

6. When is your favorite time of day to read? and/or favorite day?

Early morning, in bed with a cup of coffee.

7. What is one or more motivations for you to read?

Mainly, pleasure. Old-fashioned escapist pleasure. I try to pick books to match a mood I’m trying to conjure. For example, in Fall/October, I like spookier books and prep school dramas. In spring/summer, I prefer coastal-set books. In the dead of winter, I prefer historical books.

8. Do you have a special/favorite place you like to read? home, back yard, park, coffee shop, etc.?

Home.

9. Do you like to read with people around you, or by yourself?
BY. MY. SELF. I can’t read with Charlotte around. Charlotte is too active and busy, and Chris interrupts me all the time. And if I’m someplace public, I lose my concentration and people watch too easily.

Alisha Rivera | 145 comments Still haven't finished Pettigrew, so I can't jump into that conversation yet. In the mean time, I'll answer these questions!

1. How many books do you generally have ready to read at one time?

Depends on what else is going on in my life, and how busy I am! Usually 2-4 though.

2. What is your favorite reading style. Audio books, kindles, mp3's, cd's, good old books, other, or some combination of each.

I pretty much just read good old books. I don't own a Kindle or Nook (my husband has suggested getting me an ipad, but I'm not sure I want one...) I can download books through Overdrive on my iphone, and I've tried it a few times, but on a screen that small, its mostly just annoying.

3. Do you read multiple books at one time.

Yes, usually. Isn't this the same as question 1? or am I missing something?

4. Does the genre of book determine the priority of what you read.

Not really. More how hooked I am by it, how soon its due at the library (or whether or not I can renew it), or if there's another sort of deadline. If none of those things are any sort of factor, then I suppose I'd go back to being hooked- the books I'm more interested in will get read first.

5. Do you switch off from one book to another in the same day, (how many)?

Yes, especially when I am not working much and have plenty of reading time. When I'm working though, I'll usually only read on work breaks, and I'll only keep one book with me throughout the day.

6. When is your favorite time of day to read? and/or favorite day?

Mmmm, lazy mornings when I don't feel I need to get up and do something right away. This is rare!

7. What is one or more motivations for you to read?

Escaping into another place, era, situation, lifestyle....being able to leave my own life behind for a little while and immerse myself in another.

8. Do you have a special/favorite place you like to read? home, back yard, park, coffee shop, etc.

I read in my car a lot (while its parked!). Also enjoy reading in my bed with lots of pillows around me.

9. Do you like to read with people around you, or by yourself.

While at work, I will read on my lunch break. I started doing this to avoid the workplace gossip and complaints that I used to always hear in the break room. My job is strange in that my work sites are not the same people who employ me- I'm basically a contracted employee. I don't always feel like I "fit" or "belong", and it feels most comfortable for me to isolate myself and immerse myself in a book when I can! Maybe that's more about my introverted personality than my job though.
