casting for the movie!

Am I the only one who can't picture Saoirse Ronan for Melanie? I mean, she's a good actress and will probably end up doing fine, but intitially, she's not at all how i pictured Melanie!!
What do you guys think? Who would be your dream cast?

I didn't know they had gone as far as casting already. When do they expect to release it?

I'm pretty sure Melanie is the only person who has been cast so far... or at least the only one they've released the details on. As far as I know it's supposed to be out March 23, 2013 but release dates always seem to get changed...especially when they're that far away.

I totally agree on this one! Saoirse Ronan is a NO-NO for Melanie Stryder. Ugh! I mean, the hair, age, skin color and everything doesn't match. She doesn't look aggresive/ tough as what Melanie portrays but Wanda was inside the body so something soft I guess. Anyway, it doesn't fit.

I can't even remember... how old is Melanie supposed to be? :S I mean they could dye her hair.. that wouldn't be a problem.. but everything else doesn't go :(

It's not how I pictured Melanie either. I pictured her more like Eliza Dushku. Tough with dark hair.

Her casting makes me skeptic about the movie. I have no love for Saoirse after watching Hannah and the Lovely Bones. And, like Jackie and Marielle, I pictured her tough. She's trying to keep herself and her little brother alive so it's kind of a requirement.

I don't mind Saorise. I think she's a good enough actress, just not for this role. I can 100% see Melanie being played by Sophia Bush. It seems like that's a lot of people's ideal actress for this role. Sophia is extremely gorgeous (MAJOR girl crush on her if you can't tell haha) but she can also be really badass! Perfect combination for Melanie in my opinion.

I really really wanted Caitlin Stasey to play Melanie (and if you see 'Tomorrow, When the War Began' you'll be convinced too), but I'm sure Saorise Ronan will do a fantastic job. Plus I'm so sure she'll look more the part after her hair is dyed and stuff. Just look at Jennifer Lawrence's transformation :)

I like jackie's suggestion of eliza dushku, I think she would make a really good melanie...

I know Saorise is a very impressive actress and will do an excellent job. I just didn't picture her for Melanie though. I thought someone with softer facial features, kindda long, lank and willowly, athletic but more of a curvy body. She's supposed to have this beautiful face. I could almost picture Jennifer Lawrence for this, but I can't think of anyone else who would bit the role.
