What Kind of Reader Are You?

I can't say I fit into any exactly, just as most of us would say...maybe Slow Reader, who likes to have more than one book going at a time, underlining and annotating non-fiction.
I'm more of a book "borrower" than a book thief - although it can take me a long while to read and return them. Also, I'm all for lending and recommending but I like to get them back....... eventually!
Read quickly. Usually more than one book going at a time. Reading @ bedtime, in waiting rooms, hanging out w/horse. Use libraries, also support Indie bookstores, some new, often used books. Share books too. Some I want back, mostly pass along. The Skye in June
Hmmm, I used to be the did-not-finish but I stopped that because I had too many unfinished books and I wanted to start finishing them. Now I don't fit in that list, I just read :)
Hmm..don't think I fit any one particular group. I will read just about anyhing - and I don't necessarily get the so called allegories ( I loved Pullmans Dark Materials just for being a fantasy book - nothing more nothing less)

That's me too!
I like finding quotes but I hate defacing actual books, which is why I now love my eReader. I can highlight to my hearts content and then use the go-to function to flip through them afterwards.
I have been known to accidentally forget to give a book back when I have loved it a lot (but if someone asks for it back I do return it). Rather than be a Serendipity Screamer, I will actually buy another copy of a book I have loved and pass it on to friends/family that I think will enjoy it. I like the idea of setting them free, I just get too attached.

Ick - none of those sound appealing to me. I loan books, but expect to get them back. I give away titles I'm not likely to read again. I like to keep books nice and never fold pages or write in them. So instead of highlighting the naughty bits like Lynne, I insert a piece of paper saying "Sex scene here".
I've got to go with Melki here, I don't think I fit in with any of those categories.I hate turned back corners, and never write in books, I do give books away sometimes, and sometimes actually feel sad that I no longer own it and buy another copy!
There are books I feel I have to own, but recently, I've started going to the library to borrow certain books that I want to read, but am not bothered about owning.
Interesting article but I can't see myself completely in any catagory, I rarely borrow as sometimes it can take me a while to finish a book but when I do buy physical books I prefer to frequent second hand shops, I do lend these occassionally but am very careful to get them back. I suppose I could be classed as a sort of secretive reader, most of the time when I commute no-one knows what I'm reading as I tend to have my eReader with me (easier to carry) though this is simply not because I'm ashamed of anything but the nature of how I read books.Another catagory to add I think is that I'm a 'Bargain Reader', I can't resist bargains and if there are offers such as 3 for 2 on books, be it eBooks or real books I will always find something that catches my eye, another way to discover new authors.
Aaaa! I'm a "Bargain Reader" too! I get bargain book catalogues in the mail. Books for 4 and 5 dollars! How can I resist that? I bought a book on falconry, just because it was cheap. Sure, some of them are duds that I give away without reading, but now and then, you come across some real gems. And you're right, Kimberley, it is a great way to meet new writers.
I found the article interesting, but I don't really fit into any category. At one time, my university years, I was somewhat of an 'underliner' but no longer. I also don't dog ear my books, even though I don't mind buying old books that are worn and well-read. I'm sort of a 'collector', love to have shelves filled with books, new, old, antique, hate trading in books (although I do periodically vet.. augghhhhh). I have favourite series and now find myself buying used versions of books I read as a kid back in the 60's and '70's (I still have some of them from when I originally bought them). I just love having books around and like to have two on the go at any one time... What does that make me???
I don't really fit any category either. I like to keep my books pristine, I almost hit someone once for bending the spine of a book I had lent them.I will quite happily underline text books and leave notes in them, but I could not do that to a real book.
Like Emma, I love having the ability to underline ebooks (I have gone to the dark side with a kindle), without feeling the slightest twinge of guilt :)
I'm not a Book Thief because i believein 'Do unto others...' and I hate it when people don't return my books. The thought of Dog-earing or Underlining makes me cringe (unless it is a book specially bought for school or theatre work) Although my books look well-read from spending a deal of time in my handbag I could never intentionally deface a book.
Everybody already thinks I'm weird so I'm certainly not Self-conscious about what I read.
Until no Goodreads friends conviced me otherwise I was a compulsive Finisher. And once I could afford to buy them I read what is popular and recomended by GR.
I am Screamer. Anyone who reads my FB feed knows exactly what I am reading. I do offer my books to friends and on Bookmmoch but that is mainly to make room on my shelves.
Can't say I fit any category....bar the underliner sometimes.....easier now with the highlight facility on kindle. I've never been a borrower or a lender - hate second hand stuff and always buy, never use libraries. Old DTB's tended to go into the bin - I was such a bad person before I got my kindle.
I do fit the category no. 7 - The Reader-of-Things-You’ve-Never-Heard-Of, but only partially. I did and do read classics and popular literature, but I also read a lot of things that are completely obscure to most other readers. Sometimes it's just my work, some other times it's out of interest. And I encourage my friends to read some of those as well, so we can talk about them :-)

He is a publisher so he had heard of them all but was surprised someone had read them out of choice rather than as required reading!!
@ Esther, I love reading the classics for pleasure and it does surprise a lot of people! I have found so fantastic ones I wouldn't normally read thanks to my ereaders.
Esther wrote: all but was surprised someone had read them out of choice rather than as required reading!!"I did read some of the classics on my read list because they were required in school, but I thoroughly enjoyed many of them and they inspired me to look for more literature like that.
But I admit, some were a nightmare, and I will never want to go back to them ;-)
I didn't fit either. I don't tend to lend out books and, like Ian, I don't like second hand books. I have given books to charity shops. I don't underline or highlight on kindle. Don't tend to tell anyone what I'm reading except on here in relevant post sometimes. I always thought of myself as a book dragon - as I do like to hoard them and gaze loveingly at them.

Nowadays, I like to share my books; at work, colleagues bring books in and the rest of us can pick and choose. However, if I liked a book or series, I am really reluctant to let them go to just anyone! those I am not so keen about go to charity. But it still leaves me with a large box full of books in my spare room that I just can't bear to part with!!
I don't think I fit any of the catagories, I take recommendations and look into them. I lend books and expect them back. If you bend the front and back cover of a paperback, the spine stays in good condition as long as you turn the book whilst reading alternate pages.
I'm closest to The Serendipity Screamer, only I try not to crow about giving my books away. I just can't handle the book clutter any longer (kindles are great for hiding), but I don't fit the catagory exactly!
I usually want to have finished a book so that I can move onto all the other books I really want to read. It's quite annoying.Occasionally though, I love a book so much that I don't want it to end, like The Beach by Alex Garland.
I am a mix of The Serendipity Screamer and The Did-Not-Finisher. I love to share books but in the same time if the book doesn't click with me I don't finish it, life is too short to spend it reading books of poor quality.
Well I wouldn't class my self as one of the seven because i'm a bit of each. I love books so much that at times i can not share them but at the same time i HAVE to tell people about the books I've read, i love old books, i love the smell of them and a book that has character that's a bit worn out.
i'm sometimes worried about telling others of my choose of books, i ALWAYS read more than one book at a time without muddling the story lines up, i have a book in which i write down favorite parts/quotes of the books i'm reading, and i can at time beg people for their books.... hehehehehehe XD
I love to read, and I'm quite a fast. I tend to read two books at the same time. Surprisingly, I don't get confused, and always remember where I am in each book.
Y.I., I also enjoy reading 2 - 3 at a time because I like a variety of stories rather than being stuck to just one.
I don't think I'm any of the types on the list, but I could just be kidding myself:-)I know I don't like libraries...you find a book you love and then they expect you to give it back!
I ask you.
Who could be that cruel? I prefer to buy.
The arrival of kindle will mean we can downsize, I never thought we would ever be able to move house, except to something bigger.

Not sure which one I am - maybe a bit of each one!
I read more than one book at a time, I love old books that are battered and loved, I give unwanted books away when I have finished with them and I have been known to highlight all the sexy bits in Lady Chatterley's Lover!
