Terrence Perera (terrenceperera) Hi there. My name is Terrence Perera and I wish to give some details of myself.
I attended Holy Cross College and the University of Ceylon in Sri Lanka. I am also a Chartered Accountant.
As a Chartered Accountant, I worked extensively in Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
In Zimbabwe I also turned Horticulturist and grew roses, for export to Europe, in a metal, plastic-covered greenhouse of extent one full hectare!
I was also a Lawn Bowls player and took part in Zimbabwe National Bowls Tournaments
I am now an author and have written four books. My first book, “Sri Lankan and Zimbabwean Memories”, is a collection of autobiographical reminiscences. My second book, “Hernando Villa: A Sri Lankan Love Story”, is a novel. My third book, “Turmoil at the Villa” is the sequel to “Hernando Villa” and my fourth book, "Unsuitable Boys!", is also a romantic adventure novel with a Sri Lankan background. https://www.amazon.com/author/terrenc...

Sharon (lonehawk46835) Hi, I'm Sharon. I live in Indiana with my husband and our cat and dog. I love reading a variety of books, but I tend towards childrens/teen fantasy. I've done the Goodreads Reading Challenge the past couple years, and I think I always either just hit it or fall a little short. I'm a bookseller who specializes in children's books, which is why there's a lot of picture books in my more current reads (I always count new books that I read for storytime).

Welcome, Sharon! I love that you actually review the books you read for storytime, as it would be a great way to find new reads for my 7 year old son!

Thanks Lanelle for welcoming me. I read various types of books from classical stuff such as Trollope & Jane Austen to Agatha Christie and other detective novels. I also like reading novels based in Sri Lanka.

message 1560: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hi all!! I'm Sandra. I'm from Ireland and love reading. My favourite is romance and I read the odd autobiography if it's someone I like. Dan brown would be a favourite of mine too.
I joined another group a year ago and been doing challenges ever since and love them (actually i might have a bit of an addiction!!).
I came across this group by chance, just browsing Goodreads. Looking forward to the challenges here in the new year!!

message 1561: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 757 comments There are tons of awesome challenges Samdra, amd we look forward to seeing you in some of them. My favorite is romance as well, especially ones that take place in the past. Someday I'll visit Ireland.....amd Scotland and England!!

message 1564: by Natalie (new)

Natalie Tyler (doulton) ♥Your name? (what you would like to be called)
I am Natalie

♥Where are you from?
I grew up in New Haven, CT but have lived in Columbus, OH for many years now.

♥Your favorite Genre?
Poetry, literary fiction, mystery
♥Are you a pro at challenges or a newcomer?
I am a rank newcomer at challenges. I like the idea of having a clear concept of what I am going to read. Right now I just free-range at the library shelves. I'd like some organizing principles.

♥Any thing else you would like to share!
I am excited to be starting a new year this way.

Welcome to The Challenge Factory, Natalie. Two challenges that might interest you are Can I 'Persuade You? (celebrating Persuasion) and Reporter's Challenge (for mystery lovers).

Be sure to ask if you have any questions!

Sue (stackthosebooks) | 7 comments Hi everyone! I'm Q and I'm from Texas. My favorite books would be Historical Fiction. I love books set in regency era, the old west, tudars, egypt, and biographies as well. To be honest there's theres not much I won't at least try to read.
I enjoy the idea of challenge. I've done a few before. I'm looking forward to the New Year and all the new challenges and books to come.

Welcome Natalie and Q! I think you will really enjoy this group. My reading has skyrocketed since I joined because I find so many challenges I want to do... Q, I also love history and historical fiction and the Tudors in particular. Have you tried Alison Weir's The Lady Elizabeth? And Natalie, I haven't yet gotten in to poetry, but planned to try some as part of the diversity challenge that starts next week. Any suggestions for a newcomer to poetry?

Welcome, Q! Your name reminds me of my very favorite Star Trek character, so I'm always going to be picturing John DeLancie when your name pops up!

Have you read Rick Riordan's The Kane Chronicles? Great way to approach Egyptian mythology for children, but even as an adult, I got invested in the stories as well! Very much worth reading!

*waves* Hey, Q. I'm glad you found The Challenge Factory. My favorite genre is regency, as well. If there's some romantic suspense in it, it's even better.

message 1572: by V (new)

V (darth_vaeda) | 1 comments Hey guys :) You can call me Vaeder lol I'm from the Philippines.

I'm more of a contemporary romance person but once in a while I have this mood for a historical romance. (But I think i'm just a plain ol' romance junkie)

I started doing the goodreads challenge in 2012 but I have only completed last year's. I'm hoping I will be be able to do so again this year and since I only tend to read romance books in a specific genre, would totally like to try out new or other genres as well. Although I find it hard sometimes to stray from my comfort zones, I think I'd take the challenge. A book or so wouldn't hurt, would it? :)
