The bookish_magpie Hi all, my name is Aja and I'm from the UK. I love reading a wide range of genres but my favourites are fantasy, paranormal and young adult. I am fairly new to the idea of book challenges but they sound like so much fun and I like the way they make reading more of a sociable and interactive experience. I am looking forward to joining in!

Dee (phonebooklady) Thanks Lanelle!!

The friendliest people I've met, I used to think were the Germans, now I think it's the Australians.

Next time I go to "the Dells", I'll have to pay attention.

message 1128: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (conservio) | 32 comments Hello,

My name is Courtney. I've been apart of this group for a few weeks but am now decided to post.

My favorite genre is fantasy. Preferably young adult. I feel like a lot of adult fantasy is the exact same thing over and over again. Just different names and slightly different rules for how the creatures act. I have found a few exceptions. Patrick Rothfuss's Kingkiller Chronicles being one of them.

My least favorite genre is romance then followed by "a 40 something woman found herself in a cat in a journal" type of books.

I'm new to challenges this year. I started Bookriots read harder challenge and look forward to joining in other challeneges here.

message 1129: by Amy (new)

Amy Hi everyone :D I'm new at Goodreads :) My name is Amy and I'm from Germany. My English is okay. I can understand what you're saying and try to answer without mistakes (but please don't laugh if I say something wrong. I try my best :)) I would love to live in England one day (I lived there when I was younger but it was for a short time and I couldn't understand a word and I miss this country...My favourite genre is fantasy. I started only one book challenge once so I'm a newcomer :D
I wanted to say something but I forgot it so that's all :D

Grumble---that's cute. My husband won't let us get a dog. He's about "no germs"

message 1134: by Holly (new)

My name is Kimberly but go by Kimmy. I'm from Virginia and when I'm not commuting to and from work I have my nose stuck in my Kindle. I'm a fan contemporary romance, erotica, PNR, New Adult and any books with rockers, MC, and athletes.

Penni | 996 comments Welcome Kimmy.

I'm a commuter also. The reading I get done is by audio - a good majority when I'm commuting and doing chores. Very little Kindle time anymore.

Lots of fun stuff to do in this group. Have fun!

Terry Saucier Caron | 1 comments Hello...I'm Terry and reside in Northern Maine. I have three beautiful children age 4, 6, & 15 and I work as an RN on an inpatient child/adolescent psychiatric unit. I LOVE reading...it's my escape, my coping skill per say. As far as what genres I enjoy, It depends on my mood. I pretty much read the whole gamete but particularly enjoy romance, historical romance, horror, thriller, sci fi etc. I'm new to the whole challenge thing but figure why not!!!

message 1147: by Shawna (new)

Shawna (grnmntgirl) | 5 comments Hi everyone. My name is Shawna, and I live in Vermont with my Husband, and my two feline fuzzy boys (11 & 8). I have 3 grown kids (27,28,31), and 1 grandson (8). My favorite genres are contemporary fiction, memoirs, and chick-lit. I am a newcomer to challenges, and am looking forward to seeing how it goes. I've always been an avid reader, but in about 2002 I got really sick, and I found that I couldn't read very long before I started feeling nausea. At my best I was reading about 40(ish) books a year, at my worst (2010), I read only 3. Little-by-little I've been able to increase the amount I'm reading again... last year was 21 books. This year I'm hoping to read 24, which will include the monthly challenge(s) I signed up for here. Good luck to you all!!!

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Welcome Shawna! Have you tried an audiobook? They might help vs reading a physical or ebook?

Hi Kimmy, Booksaway, Terry and Shawna. WE are excited to have you guys in the group!

Kimmy--I love audiobooks. I went from all ebooks to 75%audio

Booksaway--I have never been to Canada despite living in Syracuse. Actress, huh? That's cool. I can tell people I knew you before you blew up!

Terry--my husband did residency at Mass General. IT's freaking cold. I'm glad to be back in Texas. I am on an HR kick with the fairy tale challenges. Our bonus word is Castle. So you know there are lots of pirates and castles in HR.

Shawna, I agree with Jenne, try audio books. Or if you have kindle use the text-to-speech feature! I hope you get much much better
