From what I've experienced this far, the data from amazon isn't always reliable, especially for old/rare editions, and unfortunately this data is spread on other websites. In such cases, I google for other sources of information for the isbn.
Anyway, you probably can have more confidence in what is written on the book you possess than in data from faraway. And you're the only one here to possess this book for now.
ISBN 0333343700 is "The new Grove Bach family" (Composer biography series) ed. Christoph Wolff and published on sadly poor quality paper by Macmillan in 1983.
The catalogue entry http://www.goodreads.com/book/edit/11... gives a wrong title and author, but the rest of the data is correct.
So this doesn't look to me like reuse of ISBN but rather some dirty data of unknown provenance.
What's the code of conduct for handling a situation like this ?
