This book is primarily about a girl who's parents are neglectful. Her mother is too caught up in caring about the father to give the daughter much of a thought. The girl goes to a museum on a field trip and while there sees an Egyptian stele (or possibly tomb drawings??) that take her back in time to what seems to be a previous life. She has a cat (Siamese I think) in both existences. There is also a boy who gets caught up in the time trip somehow too. At the end of the book, when she is back in the museum the boy greets her by her Egyptian name.

NOT A Swiftly Tilting Planet

Dawn | 220 comments I can't comment on the OP, but I've been looking for Cat in the Mirror for a while, but couldn't remember enough details to post it! Thank you :)

Cera Thirding The Cat in the Mirror. The boy using her Egyptian name at the end is one of my very favourite parts and I still remember it vividly 25+ years later.

The Cat in the Mirror cover looks right. I've put in a request at PBS.com for a copy. If that turns out to be it, I'll move this.
