Could a super librarian look at the tag on this quote? I'm guessing that it should be 4 separate tags.

Could someone take a look at the Rick Riordan quotes like the above? There are currently 5 that are mostly identical. No matter how profound that particular page of prose is, I think that that's overkill.

Done.

I would suggest that the tag PKD be removed from this quote. This quote like many many others is already correctly attributed to Philip K. Dick and its the only one that bears this PKD tag

This quote is tagged with "Dear John" and yet it is tagged with "the notebook" It is from the notebook and that's clearly attributed in the book field as well. I'd suggest that the quote-tag "Dear John" is an error and should be removed from this quote.

also...
http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/show/30
could this be tagged with "challenges"? its really what the quote is about.

One of my pet peeves is the confusion between losing and loosing. I'm thinking that it's wrong in this quote, but does anyone know for sure? She could be "being poetical"

I am SO with you. And it was definitely wrong. Fixed.

Stephen (havan) | 330 comments please add the tag "on fiction" to the following quotes
http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/show/...
http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/show/992
http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/show/...

I've already done a number of the less popular quotes and the result of following the link is a page of quotes that deal with the subject of fiction rather than simply a jumble of quotes.

can a super librarian add a comma to this quote's tag? I'm pretty certain that it was intended to be two separate tags.

message 168: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (havan) | 330 comments http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/show/...

Could a super librarian modify the tags on this quote?
Percy Jackson should be one tag, not two. Titan's and Curse aren't really necessary as that's the book's title but if present should be one tag not two. Also Zoe Nightshade is a character name and should be a single tag.

Thanks in advance

Can a super libarian look into this?

First of all...Thanks for the changes to the tags on the quotes I asked for.

This one seems to have had a problem though... The author seems to have gotten corrupted. I'm guessing that G.^K.^Chesterton has become G.K.^Chesterton due to all the new data feeds and when the tags were modified the quote sorta became detached. I know because the "Real" G.K. Chesterton has a picture in his profile and it disappeared when the quote was corrected. Thanks again

message 174: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (havan) | 330 comments Thanks again. In a related question I noted when correcting the spelling in a quote by William Tecumseh Sherman that his name has become William T. Sherman on most of the 30 some books he's credited with. Just three retain his full name. Since most of the book covers show him as William Tecumseh Sherman I'm wondering if there's way to get him back to his full name without going in and modifying the 30 some books that appear to have changed individually.

message 175: by Paula (new)

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments It looks like he has been rationalized to William T. Sherman

There are books with William T. Sherman as well

The library of Congress catalog him as William T.

message 176: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (havan) | 330 comments Ok so I'll change the three remaining as Tecumseh and that should sort it out.

message 177: by Paula (last edited Jan 28, 2012 08:02AM) (new)

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments Easiest why to do it when quotes not involved is to change the author profile and merge the two profiles, but I have found if I do that while when I look at the quote on the list of quotes the name and picture is updated, if you edit the quote the wrong name remains in the look up field.

So you then have to go an update the quote there also

I merged the profiles already

In case you find someone who continually makes this mistake, just remind them: If you don't want to lose your life, be sure your noose is loose. Often, this sort of rhyming association is enough to cure this ailment... :)

Melody (runningtune) | 13300 comments Any guidance on this quote?
http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/show/865

It has been edited and the source changed back and forth. And in the meantime it has been added several times (I just combined the instances I found) back as a quote from Dr. Seuss.

message 184: by Banjomike (new)

Banjomike | 5166 comments I'll just re-paste this from a previous discussion:

"Wikiquote actually gives a printed reference for a version of "Those who mind don't matter" dated 1948 by Bernard Baruch which is more than Seuss has."

I would leave it with Mr Baruch.

Banjomike wrote: "I would leave it with Mr Baruch."

Agreed.

message 186: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (havan) | 330 comments If the earliest reference we have is 1948 I'd go with Bernard Baruch he probably "borrowed" it from his old friend Winston S. Churchill. It sounds like him.

http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/show/...
http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/show/...
http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/show/...

The quote is "Now my own suspicion is that the Universe is not only queerer than we suppose, but queerer than we can suppose."
Possible Worlds and Other Papers (1927), p. 286

Similar quote (but longer) with no source:

http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/show/...

The quote is "I have no doubt that in reality the future will be vastly more surprising than anything I can imagine. Now my own suspicion is that the Universe is not only queerer than we suppose, but queerer than we can suppose."
Possible Worlds and Other Papers (1927), p. 286

message 194: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen (kathleenburk) | 17 comments I need a super librarian to edit this quote:

http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/show/...

The quote should be "Women are meant to be loved, not to be understood."

Also, the quote is not from An Ideal Husband. It is from Lord Arthur Savile's Crime and Other Stories. The specific short story is "The Sphinx Without a Secret".
