Can't combine two different editions of the same book

Hi!
I was trying to polish Strane creature's data, italian version of The Craving.
First I edited the author name, since it was listed only as "Smith", so to have it listed with all the other books by L.J. Smith.

I've then tried to combine it (Strane creature) with The Craving since they are two different editions of the same book, but the merging failed and goodreads showed me a "Sorry, error encountered" message.
What can I do to combine them?

At the moment nothing there appears to be a problem with the server that does the Combining.

It has been reported in the GR Feedback group - check out there or just keep trying to find out when the combine server is working again.
