I think it might just be me but I always pictured Yelena looking asian
you know, I didn't see asian, but I did see someone darker than Portman.But nothing against Portman; she does portray a strong character very well.

I've always visualized my Yelena as Eurasian. I love Natalie Portman but she's not exotic enough for me personally. Although I agree she kicks ass (she did an amazing job in V)!

Um, I'm not totally sure but the more I see her from Firefly and Serenity the more she grows on me.Summer Glau as Yelena?

She's even a ballet dancer so she would be able to do the acrobatics Yelena likes so much and she has had fight training before for Firefly, Serenity and The Sarah Conner Cronicles.

I like Summer Glau's athleticism and grace too! She just seems a bit too tall and pale to me. Nevertheless, I'd be happy enough with her as Yelena=)
That picture of Summer Glau is very Yelena-like, with the boots and a red dress. Thing is, shes kinda tall and pale, but I suppose Hollywood can fix both of that...

A bit young, technically, but I bet they can fix that in makeup.
If you haven't seen the show, I highly recommend it--very funny and well written; I love the main actors. Lenora Crichlow is super-cute and a shoo-in for pretty much any Sitian character... maybe Nutty Zaltana? Russell Tovey as Janco?
No he's not sexy enough!Have you watched the whole series? It started off being good and then just got annoying!

But really, i don't think anyone could completely be Valek, he's just sooo perfect and i don't think a man like that exists!
I love the picture of Aiden Turner. When I saw it, I immediately thought of Valek. I think he would want to look rough and threatening but I bet he cleans up to be very delicious.
He is just soooo not sexy enough, and i really don't think he would look good in the black cat suit type thing that Valek tends to wear a lot!I think i watched too much Being Human, i can't see him out of that role!
I still say no one is good enough to play Valek....

i said viggo mortensin !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!he just seems so ... right. the first time i saw him he was in lotr and he was such a good fighter i jus picture him as valek but i dnt knw y ????

Alethea- I totally agree about Tilda as the commander! :) She could pull it off! I also agree with the suggestion for Kristen Kreuk as Yelena, she's kind of who I've always pictured, but with darker hair. I don't know if I really like her as an actress, though. Did anyone see her in Earthsea? Blek!!

Also, you know who I kinda see as Valek....Gaspard Ulliel. He's a bit young, but he can play good/evil so well, imo that I think he could pull off Valek's stone cold exterior. What you you all think?

I've just been watching the new Jane Eyre (Masterpiece Theatre) and he has icy, supercilious Mr. Rochester down pat. I like it better than Ciaran Hinds's earlier rendition, who seemed much too jovial and nice to his ward than this one, who is pretty mean, but in a well-meaning way.
Though I totally agree about Toby's performance in Jane Eyre, he floored me because I had only seen William Hurt in the role and BLAH... How about Toby for the Commander? I know that most have agreed that Tilda would be awesome. With Toby, the unknowing view would be totally shocked. His acting is amazing and I think he could pull it off.

You know, for a minute there I thought that you were absolutely insane . . . but now that I think about it, he might just have Valek potential. I wonder if he could pull off the dark hair?
What about Ari and Janco? We've focused on Valek and Yelena but Ari and Janco are a big part of the story too!
