It’s Samhain, Wicca’s greatest holy day, and spirits of the dead surface in Bon Temps, giving Sookie some valuable allies to combat Marnie’s newest incarnation. Lafayette’s latest medium encounter imperils his relationship with Jesus; Jason finds confession good for the soul, but not the body; Alcide makes a heartfelt appeal to the woman he loves; Terry receives an unexpected visitor at Merlotte’s; Sam and Luna envision a storybook ending, for once; Nan wears out her welcome with Bill and Eric. As Season Four comes to a shattering conclusion, Debbie confronts Sookie and Tara with deadly consequences, and the denizens of Bon Temps brace for a new crisis with a familiar face.

Pam cracked me up in this episode! Her lines when she was looking for Eric were hilarious!

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) I was so happy when Nan died and when Marnie was finally dead. Debbie had it coming to her and it was almost how it happened in the book.

Poor Jesus. I didn't want him to die. Poor Lafayette.

Holly is a kick ass witch. It is no feat bringing dead relatives back. I am glad that brought Adelle back.

Poor Jason got the shit kicked out of him.

I am wondering what secrets Terry hides.

I was surprised and proud of Sookie for dumping both Bill and Eric. I bet now she is going to date Alcide. That won't last though.

All and all an interesting episode.

Kaye620 | 15 comments I was a bit shocked with Tara being shot in the head. My husbad said, "No worries, it's nothing a little vampire blood can't cure." What do you think? Will Tara be able to make it back or is she done for?

I felt bad for Lafayette; however, the whole time I was thinking about how was he going to explain himself out of this one. "Well, you see Officer, there was this dead witch who..."

Pam had some funny lines. Do you really think she would betray Eric and dig up the King of LA? That was an unexpected twist.

I loved Eric's line of saying that he was feeling a bit crispy. I'm not sure how I feel about Sookie walking away from both Bill and Eric.

Debbie, Marnie, and Nan dead..HooRay! Glad to see those story lines done with.

I agree it was an interesting episode and I enjoyed it. However, I'm not sure it lived up to being a cliffhanger of a season finale.

Now what do we do for the next 9 months while we wait for season 5?

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) We read all the book again? :) I hope they cast a Quinn. I forgotten about Tara, that she died. She lost alot of blood so I think it would be difficult bringing her back.

Stephanie W. | 26 comments Pam was great! My husband doesn't watch the show, but he laughed out loud at the "F_ck Sookie and her Fairy Vagina" comment.
I think it was a great episode!
I'm happy Sookie took Gran's advice and is having some time alone to sort out her heart.
I'm not sure how she'll handle the guilt of killing Debbie, especially if Tara doesn't make it.
Lafayette was having a hard enough time with losing Jesus, without Tara, he's gonna be a basket case.
Jason and Jess are really hot together. It seemed to me that he was a little hurt by her not wanting to be his gf. It seems to me that Jason is the kind of guy to fall for the girl who keeps him @ arms length.
I have a feeling that one of the vamps definitely will show up to help out Sookie. I'm guessing Eric as that's the way it went in the book.
I really do hope that Sook hooks up with Alicide or Quinn next season. It'd be good to see her with someone semi-stable.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) I was thinking something. When Holly, Sookie and Tera were in the cemetary and they called up the people that died, how is it Tera was able to pull off magic? Holly is a witch. Sookie is part fairy. Lafayette is a medium and has some magical potential so does that mean Tera has some Wiccan blood?

Adria | 80 comments Well I knew the Bill/Sookie/Eric triangle would be left at a cliffhanger. I don't know how many seasons they plan on making, but I don't really think its completely done yet. Thats how it was in the books, she wasn't with either of them at the end of book 4. I can't believe Tara's dead! I don't think there is anyway to bring her back from that...unless Bill and Eric get there in time. I bet they will bring Quinn next season, but I really don't care for him at all. All and all I thought it was a good season finale. I also loved when they killed Nan that was great! Yeah looks like Russel Edginton's back. And Steve Newlin as a vampire, haha that was funny!

message 9: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Let's see...I cried through about half of this episode. I cried when Jesus died. I cried when Lafayette realized what he had done, I cried when Jesus came back to see Lafayette (although he was a bit casual about the whole thing), I cried when Sookie broke up with Eric and Bill, and I cried when Sookie talked to Adele even though I wondered why none of the dead people told the live people they loved them, and vice versa)

Pam and Eric. Always the source of entertainment. Pam's rants about Sookie's name, and Sookie's Fairy V, and everything else made me laugh as much as Eric looking down at Goopy Nan saying so casually "What a B..." (and of course the "we're feeling a little crispy up here)

I'll end now because we all know I will have a PS: later, but I thought the ending of Marnie was awesome. Antonia was awesome toward her, Adele was awesome toward her. She finally accepted what she didn't want to and that wail from inside...and then the "awww this effing sucks" - I kept thinking "i'll bet it really feels like that"

Cliffhanger status on a scale of 1-10...8 (not as bad as usual) We have Sam staring down a seriously pissed werewolf, Arlene freaking out about what Rene just told her (and I'm pretty sure she believed some of it), Terry's new "friend" (I still think they had a "thing" when they served together),Jason Stackhouse completely naked with the leader of the Anti-Vampire ppl as an actual Vampire, Alcide looking at the chains of King Russell broken out of his concrete block, Eric and Bill with a "vampire bounty" on their heads "lucky to make it through the night" and Sookie on the floor holding her seemingly dead best friend with the long awaited-for moment of dead Debbie Pelt on the floor near her.

So what is left to figure out (for me) are 1. who is the the werewolf snarling at Sam? Debbie's sister? One of the pack? Luna's daughter escaped from the van and turned into a werewolf finally? 2. What's with the new dude (i already think they covered something up and/or had a fling and new guy wants to kill Arlene out of jealousy)3.What's Russel going to do (he doesn't seem like the grudge holding type to me)to Bill and Eric 4.Is Tara really dead? (My personal thought to that is that it gives an opening for Sookie's Grandfather to appear and save the day)5. I hope that Andy and Holly get married and live happily ever after. We need some happy in this series. 6. Eric sets Pam straight and she quits freaking out. (I really loved the scene where the human girl was brave enough to just hug her, even though she could have been killed by Pam)

OK this is long enough. I watched that episode TWICE in a row - why can't they all be that good?

Kimberly PS: (SEE?)
What happened to all of Jesus' magic when Marnie left Lafayette's body? Maybe it is still in Lafayette, and HE will save Tara? And I liked the point that Jayme made about Tara possibly having magic - that would make total sense.

And did anyone else think that Nan was just super ugly in her viciousness and mean-ness?? I would have taken her out too, and was super impressed with Eric and Bill's "think as one" moment lol.

Oh - Oh! Last thing I'll say - As hot as I think Eric is, and as much as I have wanted him to end up with Sookie, can there be any denying that while they were tied up to that pole together it was actually BILL that had the hotter arms, chest, etc.? And he looks really good in a suit...he's come a long way from Season 2 that's for sure. ok I'm done sorry so long lmao

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I thought it was rather lackluster and was dissappointed. Thought Jesus dying was very sad. Figured the Tara thing happened too quickly if she stays/is dead for such a long-time character. It seemed like this episode focused on the past from other seasons.

Chela (chelah) | 8 comments I am glad I wasn't the only one who cried most of the finale.  I really liked it because it definitely set the scene for season 5. I hope Tara doesn't die . If for no other reason than the fact that Sookie and  Lafayette can't take anymore loss. If a vamp saves her she'll hopefully get rid of this ridiculous hatred of vampires. Yeah she was kidnapped raped and tortured by a vampire but growing up she was also physically abused  but her mother for years and that clearly didn't make her hate all women. I am also wondering who released Russel Egdington. And what does Nan's dismissal from the authority mean for the BonTemps Vamps. Since Alcide killed the Shreveport packmaster does he get the position?  Whose going to do the global vampire PR now. And does Lafayette retain Jesus's dark powers or did they leave with Marnie?

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) I assumed since Alcide killed the Shreveport packmaster, he would be the next in charge.

MJ (zombette) | 11 comments Cried? Oh my!

I have always hated Tara but this season she was actually tolerable. I always wanted her to die but man, I didn't hate her this season so it wasn't as joyous for me.

I love the hell out of Pam, she is so funny and witty. Her and Eric are such a great pair. Boring Bill had one of my favorite scenes of this season, with his "We are not puppy dogs" line.

The thing that most excites me is my beloved Russell Edgington is coming back! WOOOOOOOOOO!!! Also, I have a feeling I will see some half naked Alcide next season and some Jason and Jessica sexy times.

I am 100% straight but I have the worst girl crush on Jessica. That girl is S-E-X-Y!!!

Lacey (spinner26) | 58 comments Oh my gosh. Just got to watch the finale. I believe the running death toll is give or take 5 characters?? Depending on Tara's outcome. I'm surprised that many were knocked out. So glad Nan is gone. I never liked or cared for her character or any storylines. They always seemed to be in the way. I was also extremely sad about Jesus being gone. I really grew to love him, and he was a storyline that I always felt drawn to. Happy Debbie is gone as well.

I was also impressed with Holly stepping up to the plate. She must be our Amelia. :) I hope she continues to have a part in the show.

I think I will have to watch it again. I'll probably post again later.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) I thought Jesus was the male Amelia.

Kimberly Jayme(the ghost reader) wrote: "I thought Jesus was the male Amelia."

I have kind of thought that Jesus was True Blood's version of Amelia for a while! I'm glad that Holly and Andy are hooking up. I've been thinking about what everyone is writing, and I believe he still has the powers. "A little bit of Jesus in his life" and if Tara is dead I pity the fool who incurs the wrath of Jesufayette. I keep watching this episode over and over, and now I'm left with 2 problems instead of one.

1. Eric still owns Sookie's house, so how does she truly stay away from him and what if he gets cold and pissed off at her?
2. WHO is the dang werewolf growling at Sam? It can't just be some nobody...maybe its one of Russel's guys tracking down Sookie?

*stomps foot and pouts I DON'T WANT to have to wait another year!!

I likek that theory about Pam! But you're forgetting that Russell would go after Eric and Pam too, not just Sookie and Bill. Other than that it's a cool idea.

I am not sure you have to be Wiccan or a witch to be part of a spell you just need more people to channel the energy through. Thats why Tara was rounding people up, the more people the bigger circle the stronger the spell.
