Was this book really neccesary??

I dont know if it was "neccesary" but i think it was fun to see Eclipse from the view of this girl. After reading this book and then watching Eclipse again, i saw the movie differently which i enjoyed.

I agree; I don't think this book was necessary but it was nice to have an addition. It answered some questions in my mind from Eclipse, especially that the Volturi actually was aware and permitted Victoria and her clan to follow-thru on her plans to fight the Cullens; I thought the book was lacking the same meticulous detail like the other Twilight books had; I would have liked just a little more details about Bree and Diego or an alternate ending like they both escaped; I wonder if Meyers will write another story about Fred. Another thing in the Eclipse movie, Jane says "Decisions, decisions" and Victoria actually said that line in this book. There were a couple other lines from this book included in the movie. I also really liked how Bree talked about how the redheaded vampire, Edward, acted. I especially liked that Bree was trying to give him a message while she hoped he was reading her mind. I would have liked if Meyers talked more about Bree growing up and some of her life before she was turned as well.

I liked that she wrote this book. It gave me a better understanding of the whole vampire army concept and what they did and ect. It wasn't exactly necessary but is writing any book really necessary?

I really liked this book. I think Stephenie should write a spin off that didn't involve the Cullens.

i didnt think this book was necessary...just a waste of precious time that stephenie meyer could have spent on completing midnight sun....

I liked it but I thought that it was just a book to squeeze in all the vampire information that she couldn't fit in the Twilight series!

I hated this book and thought that Stephanie just wrote it to keep the Twilight saga out there since she doesn't know if she is going to finish Midnight Sun.

Is any fiction book necessary?

I agree! i personally love reading a story and then being given the chance to get it from another characters point of view, so i really enjoyed this one. It wasnt necessary for the series but interesting to get the new view and a bit more information into the new born army!

NOOOOO But the book was all gud:p

I think it wasn't necessary but it was a good addition and made me view eclipse in a somehow different way. I actually really liked this book but I have to say I really would have enjoyed if Meyer didn't kill Bree and instead let her somehow escape after Fred and create an entirely different and fresh series of this concept, what do you think?

It wasn't necessary and I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. I only read it for the sake of the series.

I love it, so, yeah

It was nice to have a book that was slightly more centred on action than romance

I enjoyed it and think it was necessary to know how Victoria got all those newborn vampires to fight for her plus you find out that the Voltrui(sorry don't known the correct spelling)are not the good guys and that they are just as corrupt as you think they are.

No it wasnt necesary, but the book was really good nice to see things from s different point of veiw

I liked it better than the other Twilight books, although the finale was disappointing. Was it required? Not really.

i loved this book, it gave me understading to eclipse!!

I enjoyed reading the story about Bree. Although I wished she wasn't killed off and could have stayed with the Cullens. It would have been interested to see how she would have adapted with them.

My preference would have been to focus the energy on completing MIDNIGHT SUN.... love the series.... but this one really wasn't necessary

I think it was necessary to see the side of an actual vampire. Not a "vegetarian" vampire, a real vampire because, in the saga we see those real vampires always as the bad guys. This book showed that these people are actually people with feelings. It was necessary.

It wasn't necessary in that if you hadn't read it it wouldn't effect your reading of the series but if you are a true Twilight fan then the more the better. I liked seeing it from a different person's POV for a change. It was great to get the inside info from an actual new born vampire as well. I know we get Bella's POV of her becoming a newborn but as we all know she's not a 'normal' newborn. Meyer hadn't intended to write this as a novella she was simply going to include it in 'The Official Illustrated Guide', but she just had loads to write and it ended up being too long for that book. It's def worth a read if you're a fan.

I don't think it was necessarily... "necessary" but I think it was interesting to get into the mind of someone who isn't "family" with the Cullens; someone who is actually bitten and taken in to a vampire "clan" that feeds off of humans and accepts their raw, instincts. Bree wasn't a very important character in the book series, but she still had a story before she was killed and getting to know her story was great.

i think it was a cool addition to the series i mean it wasn't necessary but it worked out.

this way confusing in the begining... i didn't get it. but i kept reading it and was a waste of my time!

I thought it was terrible!

No......but since when is ANY book necessary?

I don't think it was necessary but an awesome addition to the series. I would love a spin off with Fred. I would of loved a cameo of him in Breaking Dawn but I think Stephenie wrote it after the fact.

the book was not necessary, it definently wasn't as good as the four other books, but it was interesting seeing the events from a different point of view

I thought that it was better than the book twilight!

I was glad she wrote this cuz in eclipse after she surrendered and they talked to her I wanted to know more about her and the book also shows why edward got mad and got very cryptic as he subtly implied how the volturi was plotting against them. Even though you know how it'll end with her it allows you to see another side of her and how in the end helped edward and the cullens understand that they were more than being just watched....also I loved the friendships she made and the short bittersweet experience of her first crush happening after she was turned....I hope to see a future book about her friend that left and didn't go to the battle

Yess! i am so happy stephenie decided to make this book i loved readsing it so far i have read it three times... and just saying i was kind of confused about the whole bree thing in the book and the movie and so it helped me a lot that stephenie explained it more that all of the new borns were tricked and lied to

I found this book fairly entertaining. However having read The Passage (The Passage #1) by Justin Cronin i was sort of let down. This was a great insight into the vampire life of the Twilight universe. But some things just not as quite expected from the Cullens descriptions.

I think it is, just because it's nice hearing another POV of someone else in the story other than Bella. I mean, I like Bree better because she seems like the type that doesn't want to die, but will if it's the right thing to do. I like her better than Bella personally, but *shrug*.
I wish she hadn't have been killed, though. :(

I totally enjoyed this, the only book in the series which made me say "ah nice one".

I ditched the whole series. I guess, I'm not a fan of "glistening" vampires and too much romance.

Happy reading to all!

Yes and no.

If you're only reading the series for the Bella/Edward interaction then no. It's not necessary.

But as someone who was more interested in the action and everything else, then I do believe it was necessary.

I mean, this showed more into Victoria and the Volturi - some info that I felt was very important to know.

Yes. Because when they found Bree everyone was thinking what is her part in this

No, I don't think it was necessary, but it was a nice addition. It gives the story more depth. I'd personally appreciate more books like this one.

I don't think it was necessary BUT I really liked reading about Bree & Fred. Though it made me even more sad that Bree didn't make it :( I really liked her should would have done well with the Cullens ~js

It wasn't, but I think it was for a charity or something.

It may or may not necessary, but here i found out the real Dimetri... that she knew about Victorias plan after all... and i think the story is kinda nice

no, it was a nothing of a book

I really am glad I read it....necessary? probably not, but I feel it added to the storyline.

Am I the only one who didn't really like the way Bree was revealed in this book? She used to be one of my favorite characters but when I read this I hated how high on herself she seemed, calling herself "a god" and everything. It really ruined my whole image of her character. However, I loved learning what was going on behind the scenes with Victoria and Riley. It gave me a whole different insight and actually made me sympathize with him because he was just as much in the dark as the newborns he was leading.

this actually wasn't going to be a book, but part of the twilight guide. When she was done writing it they told her it was too big to include in the guide and that is why it became a book instead.

No it wasn't necessary but it was nice to have something "extra." I gave all the other twilight books 5 stars but this one I think is more a 2 or 3 star read. I didn't really enjoy it and wouldn't read it again but like I said it was a nice option to have for those of us who wanted to read it.

I think it was. It did explain some things about Victoria and her newborn army. It also confirms how corrupt the Volturi were.

No it's not necessary, but it's a nice addition

I think it was. Somehow I really enjoyed seeing the other side of the fight... just to see that it wasn't really a good/evil fight when you take that stupid Victoria out of the picture. The newborns were not told the truth and they were being played and lead into a deadly battle. It wasn't really any fault of there's and I think we needed to see that instead of just taking it from Bella's perspective. It is implied in Eclipse but I think reading from Bree's perspective was really necessary.
But even if you don't agree with this, we all enjoyed it still right? I know I did...

no - it wz soooooooooo boring
