I'm an author myself, and I feel that writing reviews might be sort of a conflict of interest."
Jennifer, writers are also readers. It's through reading the good, the bad and the ugly that you become a better writer.
Personally, I still read like a reader (means I'm not trying to rewrite the author while I read, I'm just enjoying the story - if there is one, LOL) and don't review things I didn't like.
Here's a discussion I had on another Goodreads Group, that almost turned me off Goodreads (until I found Creative Reviews, that is!): http://creativebarbwire.wordpress.com...
I usually add an interview to my review. But I decided to interview even unpublished writers from now on - so if there are any interested... I'm also interested in being interviewed, if that's your thing! ;-) I might be a creative goddess, but also a very humble author...

Thanks :)
Frank

Yes true...and I totally have no problem reading and critiquing, and being honest when I know that the comments will remain between me and them. But...I'm sort of a people pleaser. If I know that something I say about someone else's work is going to go public...I think it would be harder for me to be totally honest about it.
So...I just can't hurt people's feelings...especially in a public way. :) But everyone is different right? This is my solution to that problem. I'd rather not just give everything I read 4 or 5 stars because we all know that would just be me trying to please everyone. Not a born reviewer I think. But to each his own.

I'd very much like to participate, both to promote my novel Earth Bound but also to discuss writing. I may be able to offer a different perspective as well, since my novel is a sci-fi/fantasy (think Crichton) but because of the plot, I learned new problem-solving strategies as a writer and had to be very deliberate in some aspects of my novel. I certainly learned alot and also discovered some challenges authors face that I hadn't anticipated. Very enlightening.

I DON'T review what I don't like, that's why I don't post on Goodreads what I'm currently reading - in case I hate it! :-)
And I guess I'm easily pleased as well - only a couple of books I read so far were so badly written and filled with typos I pretended not to have read them! :-D

you can check out my website to see if it would be something you are interested in interviewing me about. http://www.cambriahebert.com

Hi Jennifer
If it’s of interest, I’m available for an interview for your site. I’m one half of a Down Under father-and-son writing team whose two new release novels have recently cracked Amazon’s bestseller lists in their respective categories.
I’m New Zealand-based and I write in collaboration with my son James who is based in Sydney, Australia. We collaborate at long distance primarily via Skype and email, and I thought that may be a unique angle for an interview. That and the inevitable artistic differences a father-and-son writing team has!
Our first novel, an international thriller titled The Ninth Orphan recently held the #1 ranking in Amazon’s Conspiracy Books category for one full week. In December, it was at #3 on Amazon’s ‘Movers & Shakers’ site for the biggest gainers for all books in its Kindle Store in the previous 24hrs.
The Amazon ebook link for our novel is: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0056I4FKC
Our second book, Fiji, is a historical adventure-romance set in 19th Century Fiji. It has already made an appearance in Amazon’s bestseller list in its Historical Books category, and is currently outselling The Ninth Orphan.
The Amazon ebook link for this novel is: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0057YCZM0/
Both novels are attracting predominantly 5 Star reviews.
(We remain very open to further reviews for either or both books. I can email the ebook version/s to any interested reviewer).
Let me know if you are interested in doing an interview for your site. Thanks

I have a blog, which is also linked to a StoryWrite writing group with over 60 members.
I'm interested in interviewing authors either about their books, or just about writing in general. I will post this interview on Storywrite in the Inkception group which is a private group with some of the best talent on the whole site (IMHO), on my blog which feeds to Amazon, Goodreads, FB, and Twitter, and anywhere else you'd like. I'll be doing one or two interviews a month.
Anyone interested?
