Janet Justine, it really isn't that bad. I was just out of it for like a week and got to sleep for like ever, it was nice! Haha. Good luck!!

message 202: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) It's true. It's not that bad. I had really badly impacted wisdom teeth, so they had to put me under and cut them out. It turns out that they also had to cut some of my jaw bone out to get my teeth out! It does suck having the holes there and only being able to eat jello, but I thought the vicodin was pretty awesome. Some people have weird reactions to it though...

Another random question: How do you have your books in your Goodreads bookshelves so that the ones you already own but haven't read are separate from the ones you want to read but don't have yet? Or do you?
k, two random questions.

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
well..you can create different bookshelves..like one for books i own..and books i don't own yet. so you would already have them in your tbr list and then you just check off either bookshelf.

boooo...they said it is supposed to SNOW today! all we are getting is nasty freezing rain and stuff. EW!

ughh that is all we have had for the past week..yucky freezing rain..no snow..but i just drove up north to my dads on sunday and there is snow up here! :)

message 210: by Janet (new)

Janet We were supposed to get snow today and have a white Christmas, but it didn't snow! I was sad because I was really excited for a white Christmas! Maybe tomorrow! :)

message 211: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) Hopefully you'll get it Janet! I was joking with my boss because she said in the 10 years living here she has never had a white Christmas, the snow has always come before or after Christmas day. So I told her that it would be funny if we got a couple inches a couple days before Christmas and then warm temperatures on Christmas day and that's what we're getting!

message 212: by Janet (new)

Janet It's chilly but sunny here today. No white christmas forever. However, White Christmas is on TV! Haha.

message 213: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) Haha that's just as good!

message 215: by Janet (new)

Janet Just wanted to say, Go Broncos!! Cross your fingers we make it into the playoffs! (Unless you're a San Diego fan...then shut up! Haha j/k) This is such a huge game that they moved us from 2:15 game time to primetime! EEK! I'll let you know what happens!

Go EAGLES!! hehe :)

really random..but have you ever noticed that explore people option on here? I just was looking around and I saw it..so i was looking on the list..i guess it shows the most viewed profiles this week and of the month..and i got really creeped out to find that i was on both the weekly and the monthly one. lol I mean..who the heck is looking at my profile?? I'm hoping that its just people that are my friends on here. but idk..it creeps me out alot..idk why. i wish i would have never seen that explore thing because now i'm going to be all self conscious haha

message 217: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) Jamie, Saved By Grace is up there too!

Well lets just say the Broncos game isn't even close to over and I have already turned it off! Good-bye playoffs! Oh well, we still have a really young team and better luck next season!

what is everyone doing for New Years Eve?

i thought we were having a little get together with a few friends but apparently because I didn't "plan" anything definite..my friends decided we would all go to this party we were invited to. my boyfriend and i really don't want to go..its probably going to be lame and besides..i'm barely friends with these people anymore..these were like my high school friends..well besides the 4 of them who i was supposed to do something with. soo..i think my boyfriend and i are just going to hang out by ourselves..which honestly..i'd like that more. i want to go into NYC..but he doesn't want to! i'm still trying!

message 221: by Heather (new)

Heather (andshewontsleep) I want to go to NYC too! But it probably won't happen because my boyfriend is working until 4, and then it's a 3.5 hour drive and he's on call all this week. So, we will probably just stay in, watch the Twilight Zone and order chinese food (which is totally cool with me too! it's a family tradition for me actually). We were invited to a few parties, but nothing very close to home either.

message 222: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) That sounds like an awesome tradition, Heather! I honestly don't know what me and my boyfriend are doing. He wants to go to his friends' house but we do that every year.

message 223: by Tami (new)

When we were little our Christmas Stocking were filled with "leftovers" by Santa's elves on New Years Eve. So we still do that now. The neices and nephews and everyone gets their stockings filled and we have lunch or dinner on New Years day and open them.
Does anyone else have a New Year Tradition?

message 224: by Lynnie (new)

Lynnie So I've never looked at this thread before. haha. I find that strange.. so i just went through a lot of reading and I have to jump on the wisdom teeth bandwagon:

I guess mine were like Kelsey's.. They had to cut mine out b/c they hadn't emerged and there really wasn't any room for them. My teeth are on the larger side. It was my sophomore year of high school and my mom scheduled the surgery for (get this) the day after Christmas!! Talk about a huge bummer! I was sooo nervous b/c they put on iv in the inside of my elbow and I hate needles and had never had an IV before. The nurse tried to put it in my right arm, but couldn't find the vein! She kept slapping my arm and trying to find it. It's funny to look back on but I was totally just freaked out. Then she stuck my left arm... and couldn't find it... Then went back to my right arm and finally got it in one! I think I was pretty brave to go through being stuck multiple times without crying.

I wasn't 100% under, but I remember closing my eyes and kinda hearing people talking maybe but I wasn't paying any attention... I might have even fallen asleep. Afterwards I didn't feel a thing.. Just that loopy feeling you have after you wake up from a nap. I remember this nurse held on to me as we walked out and I kept swatting her away. I was like I got this! But I know they have to do it for legal reasons.

My face was swollen up for like a month and my jaw and cheeks had that ugly yellow bruise color. I thought it would NEVER die down.. But by the time school started up again it had died down almost all the way. I also had chair placements for orchestra right after break and I hadn't really been able to play my clarinet since it wouldn't fit in my mouth. but I got a pretty awesome placement all things considered!

I loved those lortabs they gave me!! They made me so drowsy. I'd take one so I could be numb enough to eat (oh it was painful w/o them) then I would end up napping for several hours.

message 225: by Lynnie (new)

Lynnie omg I hate new years... My mom is really gungho on doing some family stuff on new years so I think I might just stay home and do that. I got invited to hang out at a friend's in another town a couple hours away and I really want to do that too... so idk. I'm torn.

message 226: by [deleted user] (new)

my mom is always telling me to find a nice girl and get married and stuff but i am not the marrying type, i am loner, i wanna go my own way.

message 227: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) Totally off topic: Gene, your comment made me sing Journey.
And Lynn: that's terrible! I completely hate IVs too...that must have been awful!
I'm glad I never got bruises on my face, but it was definitely swollen for awhile. I totally loved the Vicodin they gave me though, which I kind of feel guilty about, but whatever. Haha. Anyway, when I got my wisdom teeth and they put me under, I came out of it while walking in the hallway. How does that even work? I literally became conscious again while I was walking down a hallway.

message 228: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Williams (mrslaurenwilliams) | 425 comments I feel for ya, Gene. That's what my family says to my brother. He's 25 and doesn't even have a girlfriend. Haha. He's still what I guess you could call a social butterfly. When I got to high school I was called "Little Wilk" because my brother was "Wilk". Haha. He is still cooler than me. But anyways, I've been dating my bf for 4 years and we're happy where we're at. We share our money, live together, have a dog, play games, have the same friends, etc. To us right now, getting married would just be cheaper on insurance. Haha. We want to wait until I'm out of college and have a good job and until he's been at AT&T for longer. Plus getting married without going in debt would be really nice.

message 229: by Janet (new)

Janet Ok so this is totally random but it sounds like a lot of you live with your significant others and I just had a question.
So I am done with my course work in May and was planning on moving back to Denver and then student teach here in the fall. So I was planning on moving in with my boyfriend in May. My mom has expressed wanting me to have a ring first but this was awhile ago and I figure now that it's been 5 years I figured it wouldn't be too big of a deal. Anyway, my mom brought up the other day that she asked my step-dad to do something in my room to make more room for my stuff this summer. Um...WHAT!? I didn't know what to say. I am assuming a ring is coming soon after I move back down here but probably not right away.
Has anyone had any problems like this before? Any suggestions? I don't know what to say to my mom, that I would rather live with my boyfriend...? I don't know.
My sister said I could live with her too because my parents are starting to drive me crazy and this is just over the month of Winter Break but I don't want to have to move all over the place! Ugh...I don't know what to do.

message 230: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) Maybe your mom just doesn't know that you living with your boyfriend is an option? Maybe she just figures you'll want to live at home? I'm not sure. I think the best thing to do would just be to flat out tell her that you and your boyfriend were thinking you'd live together, but I don't really know your mom, so I don't know how she'd take that. My parents don't really approve of my boyfriend and I living together either, because we're not married yet, but we've been together for 6 years, so I think they've kind of made peace with it. Plus, they know we're going to be getting married soon.

How is everybody's weekend going?? Do anything fun??

i have had such a good weekend..girls night on Friday night with my one and only bff who is a girl haha..and then last night went out with a bunch of people..woke up with a hangover..i realized that is why i don't go out all the time..the hangovers, the fact that i see everybody i hated in high school, and how much it costs to get a drink if you don't have guys buying them for you. going out is overrated. haha. :) and today..the EAGLES are on!! and until then I have plenty of time to read!

message 232: by Lynnie (new)

Lynnie one of my best friends from school and her fiance are coming to my hometown today for the first time. I figured they should meet my family since I've been over to her house several times and met her family and I'm going to be in her wedding so it's about time she saw where I'm from. hah.

I agree Jamie.. going out is overrated. I like chilling at people's houses better for the most part. Then again I'm not 21 yet so that might change. haha. but probably not.

message 233: by Janet (new)

Janet Haha I'm 21 and still don't like going out. I mean it can be fun but for instance, on New Years I went to my sister's friends house and we just partied there. I would much rather just drink at someone's house than have to go out!

Jamie- have to say I am going for the Eagles now too! I just hope stupid San Diego doesn't make it all the way!!! BOO!!

yayy!! i'm so glad you are rooting for the eagles!!

message 235: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I just turned 21 in November. I got a drink at dinner that night and one night in December when I went to dinner with an old friend. I've gone to the liquor store 3 times. I'd rather buy books with my money than alcohol! For the price of 2 drinks, I could buy the ingredients to make 10 drinks. And I just don't want to go to any of the bars in my college town because they're hick/cowboy bars, which is so not me. And Janet, I totally agree, I'd rather drink at someone's house (especially if I know I could spend the night there if I need/want) than go out.

message 236: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) So I'm trying to order my books for this semester and I have butterflies! Is that weird?

message 237: by Lynnie (new)

Lynnie I got butterflies the other day thinking about who would be in my classes and where would I sit

message 238: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) I'll probably get that way the day before classes start back up.

I know, especially considering my self inflicted pain for the next 3 or so months. It just started and already I am wondering What the Hell was I thinking!

message 242: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) Omg Tami I so know what you mean, I found out today my only security blanket was just ripped away from me. This will be my second semester and my boyfriend is taking it off. So now I'm like WHAT THE CRAP!

message 243: by Caiti Casey (last edited Jan 05, 2009 01:27PM) (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) Oh yeah and I signed up for two lit classes and history class. With five classes I just had to order 13 books. So my work load is going to suck!

What is everyone taking this semester?

message 244: by Tami (new)

Tami | 3103 comments Mod
My school work won't be the problem, or at least the bigger part of it. I am taking 6 classes, but two are online and shouldn't be too bad. My work averaged last year to about 60 hours a week. That is what my problem will be.

Tax II
Acct. Info Systems
Acct. Practicum
Writing in the Professions
Managerial Finance
Marketing Principles

I know you all cannot contain your excitement to join me in my classes! :)

message 245: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) Haha Lynn, I hate that awkwardness that comes with new classes!

message 246: by Janet (new)

Janet I am in classes with all the same people as last semester! So I am really excited to see everyone again! We're like our own little 17 person family! Haha.

message 247: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I'm taking:
Survey of American Lit I
Literary Criticism and Analysis
Sociology of Sex in America
1st Amendment Freedoms Seminar
Supreme Court Seminar
French Lit

I hate the awkwardness of new classes too. Especially if you don't know who's in your classes and as it turns out your mortal enemies are in there.

message 248: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) I'm taking:
World Lit. II
Intro to Lit.
Broadcast Management
Comp II
Recent American History

message 249: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I'm surprisingly looking forward to my classes this semester; not worrying about any of them being too hard or stressful, which I worried about last semester.
