Tahleen Kimberly, it was wonderful of you to take the time to take care of her! I'm sure she will be claimed, and she is all right now thanks to your kindness.

message 1002: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen Nice to hear from you, SBG! Glad things are going well for you. I had thought that we haven't seen you around in a while when I saw you commented here. :)

message 1003: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments SBG! So glad to hear from you! I was actually thinking about you the other day, I realized that you hadn't posted for a while.

I ended up having to take the dog to the shelter. I called animal control and they told me that legally I couldn't keep her for more than two days. I'm really hoping her family finds her. It broke my heart to leave her there. She was asleep in my lap when I pulled up to the shelter. I had to wake her up to take her in there. They just took her from me and walked into the back room with her. I was in tears when I got back to my car. She was so sweet I got attached to her.

message 1004: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments Oh I have two dogs already to keep me company. :) As soon as I got home from taking her to the shelter I sat down and hugged my dogs.

I plan on calling the shelter in a couple of days to see if her owners found her. If not I really am hopeful that she will be adopted, she was cute, young and friendly. (That sounds like a bad singles ad, doesn't it?)

message 1005: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments lol, I just meant that it sounds like the personals in the newspaper. "Young, outgoing, long walks on the beach, etc." lol.

Nice to hear from you SBG!! Glad you are doing well!!

Kimberly--Keep us updated! I hope she gets adopted, too! I would have, like you, had a hard time taking her there!

message 1007: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker Glad to hear from you SBG! We've missed you. I hope you're able to pop in more often.

Kimberly, have you thought of making flyers saying Dog Found now at shelter call to claim or something towards that affect and hange them up around the neighborhood you found the dog in? I know here there are so many shelters, that even if someone was looking for their pets at the closest ones, they might not find them.

Welcome back Saved By Grace! It is great that you are liking your job more.

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments Tami- I put an ad on ksl.

message 1010: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 279 comments Okay everyone, I am stressing out a bit. Tomorrow is the Air Force Marathon and I am running the half marathon. I am starting to get excited but the fear is greater than the excitement. I got a slight chest cold from my niece and it hasn't gone away. Well it is bothering my asthma quiet a bit and I haven't been able to breathe very well. So while this is going on I am going to voluntary run 13.1 miles tomorrow and I may be walking all of them. I have been looking forward to this for over a year and now that I am so close I am getting dragged down. I know I will finish but it is upsetting that I got this chest cold now of all times. Right now I am taking it easy with my hubby watching Star Trek and Big Bang Theory. We will just have to see how tomorrow goes I guess.

Thank you for listening! I will let you know how I do tomorrow, if I am still alive. ;-)

message 1011: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen Good luck Melissa, praying that it will go away!

message 1012: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 279 comments Well I finished and with little problems. Breathing was hard at first, but after a while it was my legs that hurt the most. I finished under my set time of 4 hours with 3:22:23. Now we will see if I can walk tomorrow.

message 1013: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments Yay! I'm glad to hear it went well.

message 1014: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen Congrats Melissa!

message 1015: by Janet (new)

Janet Wow Melissa, that's great! I know I could never do that...sick or not! Haha. Way to go!

Welcome back SBG! I just came back to Goodreads too after not being on in forever. I am glad we both found our ways back! :)

Today I did a 5K walk for the Second Wind Fund. It's a race benefiting teen suicide awareness. It felt really good to do it and support the cause!

Janet!! :)

That is really awesome that you did that. I just had a friend commit suicide a few months ago and it is just horrible!

message 1017: by Justine (new)

Justine (paperbackheart) You guys! I've missed you! Even though we're friends on twitter/facebook/tumblr. It's just not the same! (I love !) Annnnnyways, I'm trying to get caught up and I hate running/walking but support what's happening on page 22 here.

message 1021: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments So today in my Studies in Shakespeare class the presentation was on Elizabethan period clothing. The students who were presenting asked for volunteers to be models. I, of course, volunteered. I got to walk all across campus wearing a full Elizabethan style dress. It was awesome. I could barely fit through the door, I had to turn sideways. A professor actually went down on his knees and bowed. hehe

message 1025: by Katerina (new)

Katerina | 252 comments In the spirit of oldies returning, I'm back! I've had shotty internet lately so it's hard to be consistent about being on here! I always get a nudge to come on when those monthly messages get sent!

message 1026: by Janet (new)

Janet That Flash Mob was awesome! I love watching those! Does anyone know how it works? Like how that get that many people and a place and everything?

message 1027: by Sashana (new)

Sashana So, I need some advice/insight/a kick in the ass. I’ve been thinking really bad thoughts lately. Like…I don’t want to go to college, I’m really starting to hate school- it’s like torture. Is college as soul sucking as high school? Why the heck should I waste money that I don't have to torture myself for four more years?

BTW, I'm a senior in a high school. I just started my first application for college.

message 1028: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen I don't know about you Sashana, but college was WAY better for me than high school. A lot more freedom and more interesting lessons. Where are you applying?

message 1029: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Tahleen, I'm applying to most of the state schools in Florida,University of:Flodia, North Florida, South Florida, West Florida, Central Florida. And a few private universities.

IDK, I hope that I'll enjoy college. I'm just really freaked out.

message 1030: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen I'd guess that's pretty normal. I can't say for sure what your college experience will be like, but mine was pretty awesome.

message 1031: by Kelly A. (new)

Kelly A. | 499 comments Sorry to just butt in here, but Sashana I go to UCF and am applying to UNF and UWF for next fall because I am thinking of transferring. As for soul-sucking, I'd say it depends on your major and the school you go to. As an Ad/PR major at UCF, it's pretty easy, but my roommate is a nursing major and believe me, she has no soul left. I also think you need to go in with a good attitude! Go to study and learn because you want to, but also to have fun and I think you'll really enjoy it! I hope it all works out for you!

message 1032: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Thanks Kelly and Tahleen. I feel more confident about going now (still nervous though).

Kelly, why are you transferring? You don't like UCF?

message 1033: by Kelly A. (new)

Kelly A. | 499 comments No, I love UCF! It's just that the Ad/PR major is extremely hard to get into. They only admit about 60 students a year out of 400 applicants. I can either change my major or spend another 3 years trying to get into the program :\

message 1034: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Oh man, that sucks.

message 1035: by Janet (new)

Janet Hey Sashana. Sorry for just getting into the convo now. I know this might not be the ideal move for you or some people but I didn't know what I wanted to do or even if I would do well in college. I struggled a lot in high school. Anyway, I went to a community college my first two years and LOVED it! It gave me some time to figure out what I wanted to do and helped me learn to like school. The smaller class sizes really helped me out! Then when I did go to a university, I still really enjoyed it but I don't think I would have done as well if I had just started there right off the bat. It also saved my mom some money so if I didn't like college and decided to do something different, it wouldn't have been a huge budget buster. Anyway, just a suggestion! Good luck!!

I LOVE HALLOWEEN! I know it is an odd holiday, but at our house it has always been a favorite. So, this year, I started, what will hopefully become an annual thing, a potluck lunch at my work. It is right after the final tax deadline and we all need to have a bit of fun. I decided since a bunch of accountants really aren't going to wear costumes that I would have a hat contest. The categories are scariest, funniest, most orginal and tallest. So now I need help. What would be cute fun little prizes?

message 1037: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen Candy! In a mini plastic pumpkin.

Thanks, Janet! I think about starting off that way too because I feel like maybe the best think would be to ease myself into college and not just overwhelm myself. Still thinking though, whatever I decide I know I'll continue my education.

message 1039: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 686 comments Totally random: I was watching Gossip Girl yesterday and noticed Blair has the exact same laptop I have (color and all).
My brother got me 2 books for my birthday, but because he ordered them and I haven't really seen him since, I still haven't gotten them. And I know I'll love them because I sent him a list with what to get :) So I'm sure to be really happy with them, if I can just get my hands on them!! (it's a bit frustratin)

message 1040: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Happy Belated Birthday, Daisy. Enjoy your books :)

message 1041: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 686 comments Thanks! I hope to enjoy them next week, since he said he'd bring them with him when he comes to our parents' house. I so hope he got Firelight!

message 1042: by Sashana (new)

Sashana OMG, I want that book! Did you know that after 2 weeks of being published they decided to make this into a movie?

message 1043: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 686 comments Seriously? That's really cool! I haven't read it yet, but I've heard really good things about it.

Janet Hey all. Just wanted to say I didn't leave again. Our Internet went down and now we're waiting on our new router. So I just wanted to send this via my phone but I won't be on for a little while longer! It's too hard to update everything on my phone!! Talk to you all in a few days!

message 1046: by Anna (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments So I got signed up on paperbackswap.com a couple days ago. Within a few hours I had 4 requests. I printed the labels out today and two of them are being sent to people in Utah, one of them lives less than 15 minutes away. Crazy huh?
