My main character is in Zimbabwe...I'm reading a memoir by Alexandra Fuller who grew up there during the war of independence.Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight: An African Childhood
@Dot....let me know what you think of this one. I read it for a book group at the library a year or so ago. I am reading several different books so I am in
Virginia (Susan Wiggs' The Horseman's Daughter),
Ohio and Indiana (Jessamyn West's The Friendly Persuasion--September's library book group read), and
Vermont (Chris Bohjalian's Midwives).
I'm also reading 100 Voices: An Oral History of Ayn Rand so no particular location as they are interviews of friends, family, and various persons that knew Ayn Rand through the years (the 20s to 80s...truly fascinating look at this author).

I thought it was an amazing account of living in Africa...she presents the facts of her life without judgement and seems to truly love Africa in spite of the hardships suffered by the people there during wars and drought. I'm somewhat uncomfortable with the whole British Colonial attitude ...the author doesn't really comment on this so the reader is left to draw his/her own conclusions. I was left feeling grateful that I live in a peaceful country.
Let's see, I'm reading several things, so I'm near Nottingham, UK Sons and Lovers in Vanuatu Getting Stoned with Savages: A Trip Through the Islands of Fiji and Vanuatu in Ilmorog, Kenya Devil on the Cross!
Right now, I am inNew York (Summer at Willow Lake by Susan Wiggs)
Maine (The Cider House Rules by John Irving)
Great Britain, possibly Derbyshire (A Place of Execution by Val McDermid)
and still all over the US with 100 Voices, an oral history of Ayn Rand (interviews by various people who knew Ayn Rand at different times of her life)
I'm back on Arrakis with The Winds of Dune AND in the Greek Isles with James Bond in Colonel Sun AND in the Norweigen Alps enjoying a bit of philosophy with The Castle in the Pyrenees@ Dot
Big :)
well Philip Jenkins has me reading about the phrase "Spiritual Agnostic”. I believe this character is from Mercury, given the nature of its being. Is it something or is it nothing!
