I'm still hanging out in Hawaii with Sarah Vowell and Unfamiliar Fishes, listening to her adventures as I walk to work each morning, so it's slow going but quite enjoyable. Later today I will embark for Nigeria to meet up with Little Bee. I am becoming accustomed to being in two places at once. I think I may just live out this entire year in this way. Audio in the mornings, paper/e-ink in the evenings!

I'm all over the place. Just got Oman, Under Arabian Skies from Book Depository so I can try Oman again; Bosnia-Herzegovina with Postcards from the Grave; on the audiobook high seas with Master and Commander; and, not for this challenge but for my TBR challenge, various islands north and south with Rat Island: Predators in Paradise and the World's Greatest Wildlife Rescue. Still dipping into Birds of the Fiji Bush, and just expelled from the Garden of Eden with R. Crumb's The Book of Genesis. How anyone expects me to get any work or cooking done is beyond me.

You must be so confused about where you are and what time zone, I wouldn't think that you would know whether you should be cooking dinner or breakfast.
Anne wrote: "Sho, are you actually reading all of these at the same time? You must be so confused about where you are and what time zone, I wouldn't think that you would know whether you should be cooking dinner or breakfast...."Anne, Osho is most likely doing fusion cuisine.
Judy wrote: "Sharon wrote: "I'm still hanging out in Hawaii with Sarah Vowell and Unfamiliar Fishes, listening to her adventures as I walk to work each morning, so it's slow going but quite enjoy..."I've just started with an e-reader, and so far I'm loving it. It's so much easier to carry books around and I don't need to worry about them getting wrecked in my bag. The book I'm currently reading is print because I bought it some time ago. I think I'm liking the combination of different formats. No matter the situation, I've always got a medium that will work!
I solve the problem by eating constantly. I usually have a book by the bed, a book at my desk, a book by the bathtub, and a book for walking.

I've left the Ukraine now and I'm headed to 1930s LA in The Big Sleep. I'm going to get sleuthing with a private investigator!
Jessamy wrote: "I've left the Ukraine now and I'm headed to 1930s LA in The Big Sleep. I'm going to get sleuthing with a private investigator!"that sounds like a lot of fun. I loved the film, and I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of the book!

Whiny women with unrealistic expectations regarding life and those around them don't make for great travelling companions. So, I left her there. I'll check back later to see if she's matured somewhat or if my compassion level has changed.
Anne wrote: "In Zimbabwe. Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight."Anne, What a coincidence, I'm here too! Nice so far if one doesn't mind sharing a bus seat with "frightened hens and the occasional rich-smelling goat."
Read two books about Vietnam/America, one youth and one graphic novel: Inside out and back again and Vietnamerica. And now moving on to Trinidad with White Woman on the Green Bicycle.Fun seeing where everyone is and what they are reading!
I've left the rather tragic gypsies in their trailers in England, but I have no idea where I am now. The central character is a sign language interpreter for video phone calls between deaf and hearing individuals. I'm fairly certain that she's in the U.S. but I don't know where.

Anne wrote: "No goats in my part of Zimbabwe. Snakes, spiders, baboons and land mines."Oops, stay clear of all those, Anne. We want you safe. :)
Thanks, Pragya. So far so good, but the people I'm traveling with are always drunk and take extraordinary risks. So cross your fingers for me.

Haha. It's rough out here.

Hahah! I don't know because they don't have fare for the bus.

Sounds like the makings of a good book.

The "Happy Valley Set." It's coming back to me, now that you mention it. Reminds me of a movie - don't remember which one.
Gaeta1 wrote: "Besides White Mischief? How about the Kim Basinger movie I Dreamed of Africa?"I saw that one, but barely remember it. I can watch it on Netflix streaming.
I'm sure that this is filled with all sorts of scandalous tidbits. Child of Happy Valley: A Memoir. Now Gaeta has me interested in learning more about this crew.
Mikki wrote: "I'm sure that this is filled with all sorts of scandalous tidbits. Child of Happy Valley: A Memoir. Now Gaeta has me interested in learning more about this crew."That does look interesting. Why is it that so many of the English who go to Africa die in airplane accidents? I see that in almost every book or movie on the topic.
I seem to be moving around the Pacific rim at the moment. Did finish Shizuko's Daughter by Kyoko Mori http://www.epinions.com/review/Shizuk... which was my pick for Japan, and now off to Vietnam and Graham Greene's The Quiet American.
Gaeta, looks like you are remaining right on course. That is the same route I planned on taking until Vietnam put me at a standstill and I decided to backtrack and go from Australia to Africa instead. I should just go back to Vietnam, see if the whiny girl will mature and press on with the journey as originally planned.
Gaeta1 wrote: "I will be in Asia for the next two months."When you come to India, don't forget to visit me, if I'm still here by then. ;)
Gaeta1 wrote: "I've never heard of Mikki's book. It looks interesting."Doesn't it? I tell you, Mikki knows how to pick 'em.
After spending time in Bolivia with hackers and cryptanalists, I'm now off to Guinea with The Radiance of the King
I just left Nigeria, and am on my way to Biafra where I'll joining several of you with Half of a Yellow Sun.

I just left Zimbabwe (Phew!) and am on my way to Canada. The Man Who Loved Books Too Much: The True Story of a Thief, a Detective, and a World of Literary Obsession
I'm in 4 places at once still, but I've gone from Uganda to Sierra Leone.England in
France in
Rwanda in
Sierra Leone in
I'm loving all the different places.
I've left France and Germany and did a small hop over to Ireland. I started the audiobook The Secret Scripture. I'll be starting another book later but I have to check what I had scheduled next.
I'm spending some time in Denmark right now with The Boy In The Suitcase. Not exactly where I'll be headed next.
