Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments What do you mean? She never slept with Alcide or Sam.

message 52: by Madison (new)

Madison (madison2626) | 36 comments Bill, Quinn, Eric and a faerie in one of the Novellas and yes she did not slept with Alcide or Sam but she kissed Sam at one point I do not remember well kissing Alcide but I think she did it at one point or another and she had a sexual tension with all of them. For God sake she may be hot but not all of the guys have to drool around her, and thats why I do mot even care , it use to be a good series but not anymore with all the crap in :)

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments I would hate for her to end up alone. I thought I remember reading that she always wanted a family so it would be sad if she couldn't have that.

message 54: by La La (new)

La La | 245 comments I don't think Sookie will end up with Bill because despite his feelings for her he got with her under false pretenses and one thing she doesn't like is a liar. I didn't read the last book but I know the one before that Sookies feeling for Eric were waning. Quinn never really factor in with me. I like Sam and I thought there was a small attraction between the two but not enough to be together. I think that someone new will probably be introduced and that is who Sookie is going to end up with.

message 55: by ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (last edited Sep 02, 2011 11:09AM) (new)

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) Quite honestly, I'm getting to the point I don't care. Over the course of the series, the author seems to have pushed for the Sookie/Eric relationship, destroying any other relationships that interfered. After writing us into that direction, in the last book she totally messed everything up. It's like she had amnesia and switched Eric's and Bill's personalities the way she wrote how they acted and what they said. Sookie may have been attracted to Sam once, but so much has happened, I just can't see them ever being more than friends. I did wonder once if she might ever fall for her cousin's ex, little Hunter's Dad. I don't think she could put the child at risk though and her life sure is risky. The author's already written Alcide and Quinn off... so that leaves a vampire (Bill or Eric) which she hints at being unlikely (although not impossible... Sookie could stay human and her lover/husband vamp could stay with her til she dies of old age although that might be a bit too creepy, lol), Sam (so far, doesn't seem any more likely to me), someone new (after all these books, I don't think fans would like someone to swoop in at the end, know little about him, and have him win Sookie)... or Sookie could end up alone. If the last book is any indication... the series is now suffering so badly, it's going downhill FAST! At this point I have to know how she ends it, but frankly if the last book is any indication, I'm not expecting much. Ever since they turned it into a tv series, the author's original Sookieverse work has suffered. My guess is the author is tired of writing it, and the publisher is forcing several more books out of her when it should have ended already. (Like after the Fae War.)

A fun way to end it... although unlikely as other option... is to have Sookie use the Fae artifact that grants her a wish, and Eric becomes human. When he had amnesia, he was happy with her and said he'd stay with her. So on one hand he said once he'd like that option, I just can't picture our big viking warrior being happy leaving all the politics and power behind. But...ya never know. lol

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments With the latest novella I could actually see Sam and Sookie together but having said that, I don't know if that would happen either.
I am pretty darn sure Alcide and Quinn are out for good.
I can't see Eric ever being happy being a human again. He likes the politics and money and power. I think he would be ticked if Sookie did that.
Bill I could see being human again. He didn't want to be a vamp to begin with and had a hard time with it considering the circumstances that happened afterward.

It just seems to me that Eric never fully appreciate or respects Sookie. He uses her all the time to his advantage knowing there will be consequences for her.
I don't know, I can't see why if you love someone you would do that to them. That just isn't love to me.
The companion book has some conversations posted in it between Bill and Eric after every book and Eric is just a jerk. Not once in the conversations he has with Pam or Bill in them does he ever show love for Sookie. He shows some concern but more of an investment this is my property concern not, I love her I hope she is okay concern.

rebecca j (technophobe) | 124 comments I think Sam is her best bet. They almost always get along, it's obvious they care about each other, and I can't see her with a human guy she can read. She doesn't want to be vampire and I think that rules out any long term relationships with the vamps. A fairy guy would have the same longevity issues.

message 58: by La La (new)

La La | 245 comments The one thing she hated about being with a human men is that she could read them. That's why she like dating vamps, their mind was quiet to her. I don't know. Maybe in the end she won't end up with anyone.

message 59: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 12 comments I kind of feel like in the end she will be so tired of all the Supe drama that quiet Sam will be looking good to her. He never really got involved in any of it except to help her anyway. I love the idea of an off shoot series maybe starring their daughter... part Fae, part shifter(can that happen?)... Of course all the vamps can cameo in it since, of course, they won't age.
BTW What's the name of the novella?

message 60: by PM (new)

PM (personalmiracle) | 242 comments Wow, great discussion! I need to get that companion book!
Like I said, I think she will adopt Hunter and live as a close friend with all the supes. Hunter is at risk with or without her. If he is with her, she can protect him better and train him.
I agree that the books have been drawn out to preserve interest in the show. I am currently watching the 3rd year, and the show is not holding my interest at all any more. It has totally deviated from the books and whoever is doing the writing is simply not as good as Ms. Harris!

message 61: by Rayna (new)

Rayna i agree Quinn would have been my choice too until the novella.

Honestly Harris has done a fine job with making everyone of her male characters faulty. i don't see any of them being right for Sookie, so i really hope that a new love interest comes into the story and fast since there are only 2 books left!

I can't remember now and I don't have the book in front of me, something Wedding.
She goes with Sam back to his home town for his brother's wedding and meets all of his family. they talked about it in the second to last book, about him inviting her.
It is suppose to take place right before the last book but they never really mention anything about her being there in the last book for some reason, which considering all that happens I think it was a little odd.
I will look up the full title for you and get back to you with it when I have the book in front of me.

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments Okay it is called Small-Town Wedding.

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) So far... the The Sookie Stackhouse Companion is so seriously disappointing, and as far as I'm concerned rather inaccurate (like the Bon Temps map!) that I seriously would not waste money on it if I hadn't pre-ordered it. And yes, the novella "Small-Town Wedding" takes place before the last novel. That's because the companion was suppose to come out in Feb and the last novel was released in May. So reading it out-of-order, feels strange. At this point, I'm compelled to see how it ends, but getting so seriously pissed off with the series... reading the books instead of being fun and relaxing, is upsetting, as it feels like the author is ruining everything she built. :(

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments I agree that the last few books have been disappointing just because it does seem like everything is wrong. Eric isn't nice and has all these issues and Sookie isn't happy anymore.
The novella really shows how angry she still is after being captured and tortured by the fairies.
She is definitely not the same person she was in book one.

message 66: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (mskat) | 11 comments Well, I hope she ends up with Eric. I love Sookie + Eric together, and have loved Eric from so early on. I can't stand Bill. Sam might be good for her, but sometimes a little of what's bad for you (Eric) is the thing you need. I absolutely prefer book-Eric to tv-Eric.

message 67: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 368 comments I can't see Quinn popping back in. Nor can I see Sam there just isn't anything there for me. I have to lean towards her and Eric working it out or it being some new person not yet introduced. Has Harris confirmed only two more? That makes me sad.

EowynRN | 121 comments I'm pretty sure that I've read enough PNR series to know that she will end up with Bill or Sam. When they do a multi-man-hop arc, the character always ends up with the first "love" or the one she was "meant to be with." Maybe it will be bill, and something in her Fairy blood will keep her immortal - so she's not a vampire, but still makes sense to end up with Bill.

Man I'm smart! I just thought of that immortal fairy thing *pats self on head* (kidding!) but if it were up to me, it would be Eric.

I think the whole immortal-but-not-a-vamp-Sookie thing is pretty likely too. I think I'll wait to read the latest books for a while. They sound different to the early ones, and not in a good way :(

Actually in one of the books it already said that her being part fairy doesn't affect her mortality at all.
But, I was thinking about this, she has consumed vamp blood numerous times, won't that alone prolong her life span?

Like in the Night Huntress books where Bones tells Cat each time she has his blood, she gains 50 years?

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) According to CH in the ask the author a question section of The Sookie Stackhouse Companion, the author says and fails to say several things. She says flat out that Sookie will never be a vampire and I believe she also said Sookie doesn't have enough fae blood to make her immortal. So scratch both of those. And when someone asked if Sookie would get her HEA, the author did a complete run around about how you can't make everyone happy with how she ends the series, it won't end happily for everyone, etc. without ever bothering to actually answer the question. So based on that... my guess is that now she won't end up with anyone. I'd love to see her end up with Eric, but I don't see that happening.

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments Nairabell wrote: "Mlpmom wrote: "Eowynmn wrote: "I'm pretty sure that I've read enough PNR series to know that she will end up with Bill or Sam. When they do a multi-man-hop arc, the character always ends up with t..."

Yeah but I don't know if that even happens in this series. We know it makes her have better reflexes and makes her more attractive but it doesn't ever say anything about if it adds years to her life or not.

Brainsgirl, those same questions were in the Companion Novel and I thought it was strange that she skirted around the HEA question. I mean of course she doesn't want to give away the ending but geesh, she didn't even answer yes or no. Makes you wonder.

message 75: by Allison (new)

Allison Kraft (allisonkraft) | 9 comments I know he's probably not her HEA, but I've been a Sookie/Eric fan for ages now. I don't know what it is about him, but he's my favorite of her men by a mile. (And that's before the TV show, so I'm not just biased by the yummy Alexander Skarsgård. Though their casting certainly doesn't hurt my Eric love any.)

I've never really liked Bill much, even from the first book. And I never warmed up to Alcide or any of her other guys-of-the-week. I wouldn't be opposed to her ending up with Sam, though.

That's so annoying. She could have said something like 'while the ending may not make all my readers happy, I believe that it will make Sookie happy'. That way we'd know if there will be a HEA just not who it is.

message 77: by jD (new)

jD (jd_4everbooked) | 152 comments Sookie needs to have kids of her own one day. I believe her character is a natural for motherhood. I have always loved Bill but he can't do the deed. The nephew would work but she would never raise a child in the house with a vampire and the danger they represent. So Bill and Eric would not be a realistic option. I am thinking Sam. I always felt he loves her. As for the HBO show, Alacide. Whew! Hot!

message 78: by Missyb (new)

I agree. The last book shows clearly that the little lies Bill told her are nothing compared to what Eric kept from her.

message 84: by PM (new)

PM (personalmiracle) | 242 comments I just read the short story in Home Improvement Undead Edition. Home Improvement Undead Edition by Charlaine Harris It must take place after this last full book, because Sam comments about her being part owner of the bar. Basically it recounts an event involving Sookie, Sam, Tara, JB, etc--other than Sam, all humans. Sam is just her friend and boss in it, although she thought he made a cute bloodhound and then said that was just creepy. Anyhow, no romantic interludes between them in this story.

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments It does take place after the last book because Tara already had the babies and in the last book she was still pregnant. ;)

I agree, the lies and secrets he has kept from Sookie are far worse than anything Bill did to her.

I didn't remember that. Go easy on me with Tara- LOL! I just watched the complete 3rd year of True Blood and it has me ALL confused about her, more so than any of the other characters for some reason. Is she the one that is the most "off" from the books?

Erica Poole | 21 comments I personally love Alcide and Quinn. Not sure which I prefer. I think either can be good men for her once they get past their issues. I don't think that Sookie was being selfish with her issues with Quinn, I don't think it was that she had to be his ONLY priority, just that she seemed to be super last on his totem pole of importance, and who would want that?? I don't see her with Sam because he is a good friend and she really needs a good friend who understands her as not being 'normal' and while Tara is a friend, she isn't really someone she can go to for that kind of stuff, so if she hooked up with Sam for real, he would be her EVERYthing, and that isn't healthy. My 2 cents. :)

message 93: by Sherbet (new)

Sherbet (sherbetmango) | 6 comments With Sookie's abilities, I don't think she can end up with anyone human. I don't think that she will end up with a shifter either, even though I do think Alcide is delicious. I have never seen Sam as a serious love interest. Can't a girl have a male friend? I can never forgive Bill. I don't think Sookie will settle on her first lover. I agree with the general consensus that Quinn is right out. I hope we get our HEA ending. Sookie should end up with the strongest character. That leaves the amazing selfish delicious Eric. It had better be Eric. He can be frustrating sometimes, but Sookie deserves a partner as strong as she is. I hope that Sookie discovers secret fairy powers that help her be strong enough to hold her own against the world. Then she can have Eric. I would love to see Eric melt for Sookie again but in his right mind this time. I like to believe that amnesia Eric shows how Eric really feels when he doesn't have to worry about vampire politics. Let Sookie have Eric. Pretty please. P.S. I love Pam. If only Harris were a bit more openminded :)

She's barely in the books. She's in book 1 then not in them for a few books then is back for a book or two and then not in them. She's a minor character in the books. I think the book where she comes back to town and has a abusive vampire boyfriend is the one she's in the book the most.

message 98: by Missyb (new)

Missyb | 493 comments Sookie and Alcide go well togehter. Or a faerie that is around but she hasn't gotten involved with yet. I do like her with Eric, but she seems to be gravitiating away from him.

message 99: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 27 comments I wouldn't rely on the show to make your judgement on who she should end up with in the books. The show and the books are completely different, the show is only loosely based on the books. This means it features similar plot points, characters, and settings- other than that everything else it up in the air.

As far as the books are going, I've been so disappointed in the way they have turned out so far. I feel like Charlaine Harris doesn't know what she's doing anymore. There are too many contradictions that really bother me. I hope that Sookie has a HEA but I really don't know who she should/would end up with. In the end I guess I'd want her to be with Eric but I'm not positive. The whole thing from the last book needs to be handled better. I think it's possible for Sookie to end up alone because she needs to work on how to stick up for herself and not rely on Bill, or Eric.

message 100: by PM (new)

PM (personalmiracle) | 242 comments OK so while the theory I think is most likely is still Sookie adopting Hunter and living HEA, how about this idea....Eric leaves Sookie to marry the Queen of Somewhere or Other, as the last book seemed to suggest. He realizes he can't live without Sookie, leaves the queen and gives up all his political power for Sookie, who may or may not wipe his memory, and they live a quiet HEA. ????
