It doesn't matter how many times a book is nominated. Each book/series will only be listed once. If someone wants to nominate the same book as others it will be fine. No book will be weighted based on nominations alone.
By the way, all discussions regarding eligibility and/or what/who/why should be taken to one of following threads. No one is assisting me with compiling this information so I will not be reading this thread with an eye to answer any questions. If you have questions/comments/concerns that were not discussed/addressed in "The Rules" thread, please direct them to the following threads:

Of course books will be nominated more than once! The idea is to nominate your favorite books, the ones you'd list as the top 10. That will be hard enough. If ALL of us could manage to come up with 10 unique titles the work load in setting up the polls would be tremendous. If when the dust settles there aren't 100 titles we can always come up with the ones we left off, but I'm sure that won't be a problem. The fact that every second person may nominate The Lord of the Rings won't be a problem, I'm sure of that to.
What do you guys think about authors nominating their own books for the list? I find it horribly tacky.. And already see at least one instance of it. Thoughts?
Well, as long as they only nominate it once...it's to be expected I suppose. If it's not good it'll probably not make the final cut, I'd assume anyway. Oh and as long as they don't join the group just to nominate their book. Are they participating members? that sort of thing, is the way I'd go.

Okay we have a problem... we just got Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre and To Kill a Mockingbird nominated... Now To Kill a Mockingbird is possibly my all time favorite novel, but it ain't fantasy. I think someone misunderstood the list.
I know I saw this question somewhere today but can't find it now that I want the answer. Figures, lol. When are you collecting the nominations? While it's going on or after the 16th? What's the thoughts about editing?

Dawn wrote: "What do you guys think about authors nominating their own books for the list? I find it horribly tacky.. And already see at least one instance of it. Thoughts?"Meh, if it's not good or well known it wont get any votes and not end up on the final list, so I'm not too fussed.

And the reason why all books must be linked (cause I'm not going to go looking to make sure I have the right ones, lol!).
These books will be discarded from the list.

No need to apologize, MrsJ--I'm letting you have the final smackdown. ;) Once again, just wanted to affirm how awesome you are for taking this on! Hopefully there's some way for Laurel to help you.
Let me add my congratulations on an awesome job so far, MrsJ. Can't wait to see the final list when it's compiled.
I think I have neglected to recognize what you're taking on MrsJ. Lest others over look it we are cognizant of the work...and risk. :) Good luck and thanks.
I'd like to add my thanks as well. This is a really cool idea and yes I will read every book that ends up on the final list, well the ones I haven't already. Highlighter in position.:)
Anyone up for a bet as to what series will "win" ?My money is on Dresden files as number 1, with ASOIAF on the second place..
Thank yall so much! It's nice to be appreciated. :)Laurel, I can certainly find something for you to do! How does splitting the list in half and counting? We just have to agree when to stop taking edits. PM me and let me know.

I also bet that Robin Hobbs comes in third place.

Ok, back, tanned and ready for action! What needs to be done is to split the nomination list into groups and get to counting. It doesn't matter how many times a book is nominated, we just need to create a list of the books. Maybe each person who helps takes an entire page from the nomination thread?
Just chiming in. I don't know how many we're starting with but would it be less work to simply put up a raw list, give everyone a specific number of votes and then see how it shakes out? just take the top 100 vote getters?
Mike (the Paladin) wrote: "Just chiming in. It only allows 100 entries and only one vote per person. There are no other options.
I've spoken to the feedback group about using a group specific listopia but that's not an option, either. All listopia lists are always open to votes, merging, and are public site wide.

Cool.. So I'll make a list of all the nominations from page 2.. Someone else takes page 3.. I'm assuming MrsJ, you are starting with page 1.
Then, We collate 3 and remove duplicates.

Exactly! We won't start this until the 16th because I don't want to have to worry about people editing posts. I will close the thread on the 16th.

Another doubt - For series like Discworld, do we count individual novels or just Discworld?
Mike (the Paladin) wrote: "First volume or simply nominate series. As I understand, series count as one title."As always, Sensei is correct. :-)

Which ever gets the most votes wins and so on? The final number will probably be less than 100 though, although it might still. I imagine this would cause more work if only a few are working on it. But with help? I agree with Mike that this might not be the easiest way but it might be the least complicated.

I took a lot of time working out the best way to make sure everyone's voice is heard ( who cares to vote) but cause the least amount of work. :)
One thought, how many will actually go through list of more than 200 books and pick out few?Oh wait.. maybe all of us will ;)
I trust you and believe me I can imagine the headache of trying to put this together. My head spins just thinking about it.:)
Great Question from Nomination thread: "Also a quick question. Do all the series set in the same universe get counted or do they need to be nominated seperately. So for example if the Belgariad is nominated does that include the Mallorean? Would Song of the Lioness include the Immortals? I think that would shrink the nomination list a bit."
I'm tempted to say that a separate series is a separate series. The Belgariad had a different set of characters than the first set but I see it as a continuation of the first series.
The Immortals are different characters, too. But it's a totally different look/feel than the first set. Plus there's also the Wild Magic series (is that Immortals?)
