*Shrug* That's your opinion, but I loved having Sydney as the protagonist. And her weight issues were the result of lack of praise growing up.

I wasn't IN LOVE with Sydney being the protagonist but it wasn't all together too awful either. One of the things that I hated about this book was that they were completely oblivious to all the signs that were in front of them the whole time. I probably could have solved everything in a week that Sydney took what? a month and a half or something? Idk but it was just sitting there saying "Neener, neener, neener! I'm right here. Come and get me."There were no twists and turns like in Vampire Academy and Richelle Mead's other works. Everything was so laid out and predictable. I pretty much always knew what was coming. I hope the next one is better and that Sydney gets interesting.
With Sydney's goodie two shoe act it made me pissed off only thing good in the book is Adrian and his wise cracks like who would whine about being a size 2 !! Yes I thought it was predictable too story wise I'd guessed about where the blood was coming from etc.... I'm hoping Sydney grows up a little and learns to live and have fun she's pretty boring.
Adrian wasn't really as funny as he was in VA.
Yeah not a big fan of Sydney although I don't think Jill's POV would be any better. I really wanted it to be in Adrian's POV but at least I got to have more of him. As long as there is Adrian I will suffer through Sydney.

I personally LOVED Sydney. Everyone is complaining that she didn't have a backbone but it took a lot for her to be able to hold everything together and to take care of everyone. I have a feeling that her ability to speak up for her self and fight back is something that is going to develop throughout the series. I don't think that there would be enough material for a book from Jill's POV. It would mostly just be about how unhappy is in her current situation.

I have a feeling th..."I agree, I think that its takes a lot of courage to be able to change and go against those who you are close to and have trusted your entire life. Just the fact that she would face her greatest fear to keep her sis out of harms way speaks very highly of her.
No, I think Jill will constantly worry about Adrian, because they're bonded now, and I would feel like reading once again about Rose and Lisa. I just don't like the bond, that thing is repulsive.

Yes, but it was more disturbing with Rose and Lisa, because every time Rose started obsessing with Lisa I was wondering about her sexuality.
And I think Jill had a crush on Adrian before they were bonded, and if the story was narrated from her POV it would have been painful to read.

YES YES! Exactly! It was really weird. I'd just die if something like that happens to me. It would be really embarrassing. I wouldn't have the guts to look into my friend's eyes later.And now, when Adrian and Jill are bonded, I don't wanna think about it. I just felt sorry for her when she had to witness his whole 'partying'.

Now he is interesting..."Well, Sydney was intended to be more different than Rose. She over-analyzes and thinks before she acts. Whereas Rose is much more impulsive and hot-headed. And given Sydney's upbringing I can see why does she has low self-esteem and appearance issues.
I can see why many people aren't satisfied with Sydney, but I think she'll grow as a character and we are going to see different sides of her.
Don't worry. I think she will be more interesting to you in the next book. She showed signs of difference at the end of Bloodlines when she stood up to Abe Mazur. So, I think that would increase in the next books! =)

Yeah, you can see how much she cares about her sisters and how much she loves them both. She proved her affection at the beginning with Zoe, and in the end with Carly.I'm so glad that scumbag Keith got what he deserved. I just felt sorry for her when I found out the real reason why was she so hostile toward Keith.

Exactly. Rose would have just broken her nose or something but Sydney actually got her into her debt. It kind of reminds me of how Abe does things.
I was highly disappointed that Sydney was the heroine, until I actually read the book. Yes, she is the opposite of Rose in a lot of ways. That's the good part, though. We were able to see how Rose matured in VA. Now, we get to see a completely different character in the same paranormal world grow as a person through discoveries of self with help from some of our favorite characters from VA, Eddie, Jill, and Adrian.
Sydney is not a weakling. She is simply intelligent and thinks before she acts. She knew if she did something outright to that girl, then it would cause problems for herself and Jill. Also, Sydney could not do something to Keith herself because her sister probably does not want the world to know what Keith did to her.
I think Abe would have to have been somewhat of a badass back in the day... Look at who Rose's mother is, Janine. I think she was a lot more like Rose when she was younger than she cares to admit.

I actually really loved Sydney as a heroine. I like her more than Rose because I can relate to her more.
I couldn't relate to Rose's 'badassery'. Most of the times she acted rudely and way too impulsively for my taste.

Sydney hit her right at the spot. She felt vulnerable, mostly because she didn't know who did that. That was really smart move on her part.
I'm sure we are going to meet Sydney's sister Carly and I think she is going to expose the truth about Keith.
Well we didn't see Keith after he got taken away by the Alchemists, so we really don't know about him and how he is going to tackle with what Sydney did to him. I'm sure we didn't see the last of him in Bloodlines.I guess the story with the bullying girl was just a simple subplot in Bloodlines. I don't really think we'll get to see more of that girl. Maybe she'll change, maybe she won't. But I didn't really see her as much of a threat. She was just a shallow side character with no real purpose. And she didn't even deserve to know who did that to her, at least in my opinion.
And so, just like you said it yourself, maybe Bloodlines is just not the series for you. Doesn't mean if you love VA, you'll love Bloodlines too. :))

I agree, Kieth was a gross asswhole, who needed to be taught a lesson, and I was a little sad for her when Zoe was blinded by rage and wouldnt let her explain why she did what she did

I didn't care for Sydney as mush as Rose and found her rather boring. It might be interesting from Jill's POV, but Mead seems to usually right in the side kicks POV, which I like. And also, I want to be reading from Sydney's POV because I want to see just how she and Adrian will come together.
I liked Sydney's POV, she's a lot more relateable to me than Rose and although Rose was a lot more fun and I admired how she would stand up for herself I couldn't stand her by the end of the series. And I like Sydney as a character but will admit reading some of things she had to do in Bloodlines was boring - the research she had to do for her history teacher, even though it became a vital plot point in the end. And the amount of times she restrained herself from speaking up for herself when I just wanted her to tell people where to shove it, those parts were a bit frustrating but I wouldn't call her weak for not lashing out every time someone put her down. I actually think its a subtle strength not to jump at every jibe and shows how mature she is. Also if its someone she cares about who is being mistreated then she'll actually defend them but she'll do it her way. Which I thought was a lot scarier then Rose who would probably as people say punch someone in the face. I like Jill but she was depressed for most of this book and suffering from Adrianism, her POV would have been filled with longing, whining, moping and would been annoying.
