Sandra Harvey I was so disappointed in this movie. I loved Eragon (the book) but the movie just twisted the story completely! Jeremy Irons was a great Brom, but other than that it sucked. I bought the movie, really excited to watch it, and then stared at the screen as the credits rolled, feeling so upset that one of my favourite books - at the time - had been ruined!

Claudia Marcela when I saw the movie I thought, "WTF?! Is Lord of the Rings with dragons in poor version". But then I read the book and loved it.

The book is much better than the movie.

message 253: by Maia (new) - rated it 5 stars

Maia It was pathetic, did the people who did the movie even read the book? They didn't even get the ending done right! But maybe thats a blessing so that they couldn't butcher the next book. It was completely screwed up.
My mother wanted to buy it and just couldn't understand why it made me want to scream. I hope they redo it, Jeremy Irons was ok, I wouldn't mind him in it, everything and everyone else should hit the road!

message 254: by Clara (new) - rated it 5 stars

Clara no Jeremy Irons was too young for the role of Brom...

Ryan James I watched the movie first and thought it was great. Then I read the book and thoght it was horrible but I think they should still make it into a movie because I want to see what thorn would be like and the battles. I think they should make all of the Inheritance cycle books into movies. I've read Eragon and I'm reading Eldest but I know a lot about them because I have Inheritance and read about how Galbatorix died. Why should Eragon take pity on Galbatorix when he's killed so many people + the leader of the Riders and I think his name was Vlaedr. Correct me if I am wrong. After I read the book I thought that the movie was really cheesie.

message 256: by Olivia (new) - rated it 5 stars

Olivia I think the movie might have put a bad opinion onto Christopher Paolini... the book is so much better.

message 257: by David (new) - rated it 3 stars

David Dawson The movie version went so far beyond sucking there's not a word to describe how bad it is. It even put me off reading the rest of the books for a few years. It makes me so angry when Hollywood producers get their greedy mitts on our favourite books and destroy them.

message 258: by KaDee (new) - rated it 5 stars

KaDee I liked the graphics in the movie, but it was nothing like the book. It's almost like they just borrowed the names and idea. Still, it was pretty good. The book is WAYYYY better though. =)

Claudia Marcela Clara wrote: "no Jeremy Irons was too young for the role of Brom..."
Yes, he was too young, but if they would had selected to an older actor, maybe the action scenes would not had been believable or even possible.

message 260: by Jared (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jared Green the movie was so bad the people who made it would have to create a whole new story line to make a second movie.

Jessica I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who watched the movie and went "huh?" Whoever wrote the screenplay should have been kicked to the curb.

TooManyFeelsToDeal NOTHING LIKE THE BOOK!!!!!

message 263: by Kayley (last edited Mar 22, 2012 01:55PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kayley yeah the only reason my mom and i watch it any more is to point out everything they got wrong!!! its sooooooooo bad. actually its a pretty good movie, BUT they shouldn't have based it off the book because the only thing they got right was the tittle and the dragon. it would be great as its own movie

Chanelle Screenplay, costuming - it was a hastily put together mess. It come off more like a B movie trying to a first rate one.
Actually, I watched this with a friend and cringed in embarrassment after telling her how great the book was. Even for people who hadn't read the book this movie was terrible and illogical.
The really sad part is that this is not a terrible book. I expected them to have to change a few things when adapting to a screenplay, but someone seems to have just done whatever he/she wanted.
However, Saphira was excellent. She looked exactly like I thought she would and Rachel Weisz did a great job giving voice to her.

HELL YEA THE MOVIE SUCKED! I WANTED TO MURDER THE DIRECTOR!

Chanelle Nasra wrote: "HELL YEA THE MOVIE SUCKED! I WANTED TO MURDER THE DIRECTOR!"

lol...for me it was the costuming. I think all of us hated the writing so I'll leave the screenwriter for someone else!

message 267: by Clara (new) - rated it 5 stars

Clara it was just plain awful!!!

message 268: by Arya (new) - rated it 5 stars

Arya The books are SO much better. The movie leaves out good action. I saw the movie first so I thought is was awsome. But now that I've read the books(well the first three) I believe now the movie sucks!!! But when I read the books I picture the movie characters.

message 269: by Ben (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ben B i can respond to this in one word: duh

message 270: by Clara (new) - rated it 5 stars

Clara so agree with you there Ben. there's nothin else to say...

message 271: by Eric (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eric Weigner The movie felt like a very long synopsis or something. It's a shame ... Eragon was a fun book.

message 272: by Shula (new) - rated it 4 stars

Shula It would probably be one of the worst movies even if it didn't rip off a great book!

message 273: by rose (new) - rated it 3 stars

rose Yep. This book was butchered by the movie. So was The Lightning Thief. ><

message 274: by Eric (new) - rated it 5 stars

Eric Weigner True about "The Lighting Thief" movie, but I thought it was better than "Eragon."

message 275: by Clara (new) - rated it 5 stars

Clara hey at least they did a good job with the Harry Potter movies...

Rosalba The eragon movie was.... so awful.
I need not to say more.

message 277: by Emma (new) - rated it 4 stars

Emma The film was so bad by comparison I could barely watch it.Not only was the story inaccurate, but the casting and acting was all wrong as well- find it hard to believe paolini himself liked it, but he's young and ambitious so maybe he was just thrilled it was made into a movie at all- even if it was an extremely bad one!

Caroline Omigosh all these haters! I liked the movie, actually. I mean, they cut out a LOT and warped it in a sense, but the movie itself was good. The movie in comparison to the book... eh. And they totally set it up for a sequel, and never made one. THAT'S what has PO'd me for all these years.

Emilyn Kracher well than dont watch the movie it SUCKS

(im not kidding it totally ruins the book)

message 280: by Naomi (new) - rated it 4 stars

Naomi it was an abomination...

message 281: by Tom (new) - rated it 5 stars

Tom As compared to the book, the movie sucks, and by itself, its not that great either. It is just light entertainment. The best way to describe it is its just a little better than the cheap syfy original movies.

message 282: by Reagan (new) - rated it 5 stars

Reagan Madeline wrote: "Is the movie that bad? I haven't seen it..."

Yes, the move is absolutely terrible. I almost cried the first time I watched it, but now I check it out at the library whenever I really want to laugh or mock something. :)

message 283: by Reagan (new) - rated it 5 stars

Reagan Did anyone else notice that Murtagh was wearing JEANS in the movie and that a similar bow can be bought at Wal Mart?

ALSO--

Actually, I could rant about this forever, so I'd better stop now (while I can). :)

KHBBSTerra Madeline wrote: "Is the movie that bad? I haven't seen it..."

It was exactly that bad. It's not entirely based on the storyline. They completely butchered it.

message 285: by Jerome (new) - rated it 1 star

Jerome Otte The book and the movie are of the same quality, don't kid yourselves.
I can't believe people actually like something as atrocious as Paolini's trash.
