Clara i know every thing was TOTALLY wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!! and why was Galbatorix in the movie???????????? and what was the whole "I suffer without my stone." he acted like the egg was stolen like 1 week ago when it was really like 10 years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Taylor The book was 10 times better than the movie. The movie didn't even make sense in some parts in my opinion.

Clara my thoughts exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 54: by Seri (new) - rated it 5 stars

Seri I feel the same way about this as I do about the Harry Potter volumes vs. their respective movies. Just...awful.

And doesn't it make you crazy when someone (thinks of my sister *cough*) says "No, I've never read it, but I did see the film!", as though that were tantamount to reading the book? Even in the case of Jackson's LOTR movies, which were actually pretty incredible adaptations, I would hate to think that someone might forgo reading the Tolkien series because of them. :(

Clara I actually think the Harry Potter movies weren't that bad I mean yes they left out some details like Dobby in most of the movies :( but in the sense of book to movie adaptations *glares at the Eragon movie* it's pretty good.

It is baaaaaad, the voice of the dragon is ridiculous and to just hash the story and makeup your own ruined it completely. Read the book.

According to Wikipedia, Paolini liked the movie..."

What else would he say? I am sure he made a nice little extra from it.

Clara Actually he didn't have any say in what went down for the movie cuz he sold it to the company that made the movie.

Pretty much the only good thing about the movie in my opinion.

Missing out the Roran/Katrina sub-plot just made it completely impossible to ever make a second film in my opinion. It was their love that led to Roran going after Eragon. Though not making a second film is probably a good thing...

Scott Bury It was not like the book except in one way: both were bad. They were derivative, unoriginal and cutesy, but in different ways.

Clara My advice to those who have watched the movie and liked it ..... READ THE BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I AGREE!!!!!!!!!

♏⟑¢⊀∑∏≳≀∑ MEE TOO!!!!!!!!!!

Alexanne Oh lol at first I thought I was reading the Twilight discussion board LOL I was like... there's no Galbatorix...
Do you think they'll ever try a fresh start on Eragon again so they can film it properly (with the intention of filming all the books?)

Clara I hope they do that.......preferably before I die!!!!!!!! :)

message 66: by Teri (new) - rated it 5 stars

Teri Gray I really hated the movie!!! Botched it completely!! And I so loved the books... I think I will do as another reader did and re read the series and expunge the movie from memory!!

Courteney Lansford I actually thought it was ok. I didn't really liked the actors they chose and the story line was... a little off, but still good. They should try redoing it in the future

Alexanne Lol when I saw the Eragon books in Costco when I was little, I thought it was pronounced 'Ee-rag-on' (the 'rag-on' sounds like 'dragon' minus the 'd' LOL)
And I thought 'Eragon' was the name of the dragon on the cover. I also thought the dragon on the cover was a boy :P

message 69: by Simon (new) - added it

Simon the move version sucks but the book is grand!!!

message 70: by Simon (new) - added it

Simon i cant wait till the 4th book is translated into my language!!!

Clara which language is that????? :->

Morgan I think you have to appreicate the amount of work it takes to make a movie, especially ones with mythical creatures like dragons, before you criticize them. Sure the movie fell short of expectations, but what movie is exactly like your imagination? I'll admit that I too was dissatisfied with the movie but I really don't like how everyone is writing hate messages about it when it really wasn't THAT bad. I think for the topic they chose, they did a pretty good job.

Alexanne Naw, they should have waited til they got more money so they'd have a much bigger budget for this movie. The visuals were stunning, but it's just the 'feel' of the book that was lost in this movie. It takes real director creativity to bring to the screen what the book brought to thousands if not millions of readers.

Skhoury Definitely i thought they were so bad i was so angry. But i would love Peter Jackson to re-make them cause then they would definitely be epic.

Clara Plus they messed up the characters!!!! Murtagh wasn't supposed to follow them. Sloan wasn't supposed to know that Galbatorix wanted the stone. Brom wasn't supposed to be some creepy beggar dude. Roran was totally messed up. There wasn't supposed to be army people (sorry I just woke up and can't think of a better word!) in Carvahall. Eragon was wrong just in how he looked, other than that he was OK.... Alright I'm done (for now.. MOO HA-HA!!)

Ziyue The movie was just-blah- it was just not worth seeing it. I was like what on earth is going on?!!! It didn't follow the book very much. Saphira grew up way to quickly and they missed most of the big-oh-my-gosh-part of the events. I heard from my English teacher that the authors could tell the movie directors what to put in the film or comPlain about the lack of events and such. So why didn't Chistopher Paolini do it?

Skhoury Mimi wrote: "The movie was just-blah- it was just not worth seeing it. I was like what on earth is going on?!!! It didn't follow the book very much. Saphira grew up way to quickly and they missed most of the bi..."

agreed.

Cnerd Even Jeremy Irons wasnt able to save that movie. Well, at least it was better than Clash of Titans

Clara Mimi wrote: "The movie was just-blah- it was just not worth seeing it. I was like what on earth is going on?!!! It didn't follow the book very much. Saphira grew up way to quickly and they missed most of the bi..."
He couldn't. He sold it to the movie company so he couldn't have a say in what happened.

message 80: by [deleted user] (new)

The film was shockingly awful compared to the excellent book. And all the story was wrong, like Eragorn and Ayra having feelings. Err didn't happen. Dissaponment :(

Michael I remember people were walking out 15 minutes in to the film. On the plus side, I thought Brom was well portrayed, though he was a little crazier in my imagination. Overall, it just seemed to me that nobody in the movie cared about doing a good job.

Badgerlord I read the book first and then watched the movie and hated it. A friend did it the other way 'round and liked the movie till he read the book. I think the movie is so bad that it threatens to consume the space-time continuum with the sheer awfulness of it.

OMG I AGREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Clara one of my friends has seen the movie and LOVES it (EWWWWWWWW!!!!) i keep trying to convince him that it terrible compared to the book, but no matter how many times i tell him this he just doesn't believe me! ugh why are some people so stupid?

hahahah, agreed, it sucked, they took out the everything that happened between the dragon growing up. they just swooshed him hrough the clowds and he was grown. just a bunch of bull. i got sooo mad when i layed eyes on it. this movie should have been rated r for intense violence.

Clara he still wasn't supposed to be in the movie... and Sloan was TOTALLY wrong!!!!

Clara true

Andrea Evans eragon+movie= horrible

Przemek Anyone remember "Power Rangers"?
Looks similar. Short, flat and repeating itself plot. Huge battles simulated by 10 actors. Sparse and cheap special effects (though sf for flaying dragons are quite good). Really small budget (ok I just guess that, it they had big one then this is prime example of embezzlement). Poor camera handling. Most of the craftsmanship transfered from cheap TV serials. Whole movie feels like short tv serial putted in one long row, with "movie" stamp on it.

Eragorn should get crew responsible for The Lord of The Rings!

(I wish that this will not happens to ANY other book I like, ..., no, I do not wish such faith to even worst book)

lol i agree for the most part.

♏⟑¢⊀∑∏≳≀∑ what does sf mean?

IDK. you're not gonna creep in me are ya?????

Michael MacKenzie wrote: "what does sf mean?"

I'm going to guess "special "FX" effects" from the context, as I'm sure they don't mean "science fiction".
