UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments September's Build Your Own Challenge

Duration - September 1st - September 30th.

It's that time again... a new month, a new challenge! If you’ve done this before, you know the drill. If not, here’s how it works –

The challenges in this group are designed to be not very challenging, hence the title, Not Too Challenging Challenges. That means that you get to design the challenge around the books you want to read and the only requirement is that the books somehow remind you of September.

Some ideas might be –
**Books that are published in September.
**Books whose author or a character is named September..
**Stories that have something to do with kids heading back to school, or family vacations, etc.

Some September Holidays and Observances -

***Labor Day
***Grandparents Day
***Patriots Day

Also -

* Classical Music Month
* Hispanic Heritage Month
* Fall Hat Month
* International Square Dancing Month
* National Blueberry Popsicle Month
* National Courtesy Month
* National Piano Month
* Chicken Month
* Baby Safety Month
* Little League Month
* Honey Month
* Self Improvement Month
* Better Breakfast Month

So you see, with a little imagination it’s very easy to find books that will work in these challenges! If you have no imagination at all, copy someone else's challenge!! And for more ideas, check out this site - http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreho...

The only restriction is that you can’t begin reading for this challenge until September 1st, and you must be finished on or before September 30th.

Please list your stats at the top of the page so I can easily spot them and update them.

Sign up below if you’d like to join us!

Romance!Romance!Romance! I really am craving for romance right now. *really wide grin*
I have chosen a few but I wanted to read more and I still don't know that many great romance authors... I'm WIDE OPEN for suggestions!!

Here's my tentative list:
SEPTEMBER Book Challenge: - ?/6 (for now)

Janet Evanovich – Foul Play (about a chicken)
Janet Evanovich – Smitten (single mother)
The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle - Avi
Tumbling Through Time - Gwyn Cready
Catherine and the Pirate - Karen Hawkins
Pirate’s Woman – Paige Tyler

Foul Play by Janet Evanovich Smitten by Janet Evanovich The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi Tumbling Through Time by Gwyn Cready Catherine and the Pirate (Avon True Romance) by Karen Hawkins Pirate's Woman by Paige Tyler

message 21: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Ok, if those were MY books, here's how I'd make them fit------

Janet Evanovich – Foul Play (about a chicken) - this one works because Football season is in full swing and they PLAY football, and the word PLAY is in the title.

Janet Evanovich – Smitten (single mother) - This one can work because September is a rough month for single mothers.

The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle - Avi - this works because a friend of the family (mine) is named Doyle and his birthday is in September.

Tumbling Through Time - Gwyn Cready - This one works because the heroine's name is Persephone "Seph" Pyle, and Seph has the first three letters of September in it.

Catherine and the Pirate - Karen Hawkins - this one was published in September.

Pirate’s Woman – Paige Tyler - this one works because it sounds REALLY hot, and so is September.
---------

Yes, some of those are stretches, but it's YOUR challenge and no one here will ever question WHY a book works for you :)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 4782 comments I used to Cross Stitch! I framed some of my work. I have one similar to this one:

message 28: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments My favorite that I did had cross stitch around the edge created a lacy pattern. It had mauve and pink roses in the center, and butterflies worked in the lace. I framed it with a green matte and a cherry wood frame.

Nissie Lambert Since it's Self-improvement Month and I have a boat load of self-help books, I'm going to try to get through some of them. Not my favorite thing to read, but they've been sitting here forever. I think I'm being too ambitious when I say I'll read 5 of them, but that's what you can put me down for. :)

message 50: by Kate (new)

Kate Reads (misskatereads) Since, it's Classical Music Month, National Piano Month, AND International Square Dancing Month - I wanna read books about music. So, I'm going to read books involving music, performance, and/or dancing as a part of the theme (this doesn't mean any romance novel where they dance at a ball or a party). At least four books.
